- My first drive in the utterly insane Apollo IE 'Red Dragon'! My friend Mike, @Shinnmike has taken delivery of his extreme Apollo IE, and on a visit to Spa-Francorchamps, he's surprised me with an opportunity to get behind the wheel on the famous F1 track... there are very few words!
Hot on the heels of my fabulous experience in the Pagani Huayra R track hypercar, we're here with Mike during the Arte in Pista event as his Huayra R is due imminently, however in the meantime he's brought both his Pagani Zonda F and Apollo IE to Belgium for the event. Today is all about the latter though, the Red Dragon as it is nicknamed, that Mike has recently bought and taken delivery of.
The Apollo IE, standing for Intensa Emozione, is one of only 10 being made in total, powered by an 800hp NA V12, with radical design and aero, in a street legal racecar like no other. The drama and intense emotion begins as soon as that engine fires up, with a deafening growl and ready to scream in anger. The seats are fixed as part of the tub, the interior is all bespoke, and the feeling is totally extreme to the max.
After a quick tour with Mike, we're out on the track for some passenger laps before he surprises me as we pull back in to the pitlane with an opportunity to get behind the wheel myself! I cannot thank Mike enough for the trust and opportunity to pilot such a special thing that very few have been lucky to experience. / shinmikeyin

Mike is an absolute gentleman for letting Tim drive the IE, what a man, it’s good to have people like you guys who actually let people enjoy the cars..
Yes he is...but Tim can pay for anything he may broke and he know how to handle a car and he's a very reasonable person...so no danger for the owner I would have done the same...next time Tim will come with his Zenvo and he will test it!

There's probably a lot of paperwork Tim had to sign before driving that car for insurance purposes

Tim gets to drive a lot of expensive cars and the owners let him because he's got the financial credentials to pay for damages in the event something goes wrong. Tim's from a very wealthy family. It's just one of those unspoken agreements.

With that V12 engine, that thing screams in a good way. It’s meant to be loud cause who wouldn’t want to hear a car with a screaming engine and exhaust sound? Definitely like that paint and the transition from red to the carbon fiber. Maybe shmee150 can bring his other shmee mobiles to that track some day.
That car looks like botched plastic surgery. I wonder what its drag-to-downforce ratio is.

I personally think it’s a bit overdone on the outside. It certainly looks nice to drive, I would also drive it. But it looks alright in my opinion.
Never thought i would see a Pagani Zonda so overshadowed. Crazy shapes on that Apollo IE.

Probably the best piece of design I've seen in the past few years. Nothing really looks like it on the road. And the spec is absolutely gorgeous. This car will go down as one of the greatest no doubt.
Mike is a complete visionary for getting them to perform that paint / carbon work! It is a 1 of 1.... I think this is the best super car paint I've seen 😍 👌 🙌

That's the sickest car in the world. 2700 lbs and enough down force that it could drive upside down. Any car on the planet id take that. Its a shame there is only 10 of that absolute masterpiece

If this is really the last generation of V12 cars, we are sending them off with some phenomenonal cars.
There's still some more to come, the successors of Aventador and 812 to name a few, including the GMA T33.
Ferrari V12s will still be around, Gordon Murray’s cars will have V12s, Aventador successor will be V12, Delage D12 has a V12, Aston Martin Valkyrie has a V12, SCV12 has a V12, and of course there will be more bespoke car makers likely to use V12s as well. They aren’t going anywhere yet.

Literally the best car ever made in the history of mankind. Apollo Automobil never disappoints especially in paying its homage to the GT1 class. Shout out to Mike with the IE Red Dragon, even letting Tim take a spin of the insane weapon.

this made me almost cry of happines seeing tims joy as he drives it, as i know i will never be able to experience this, but envisioning that i was right there with them inside the car and felt the raw emotions. Amazing video!

My favorite track in Europe. I lived about an hour away in Trier, Germany and I've driven that straight so many times. Also done track days back in the 80s and 90s when I lived there. So much fun to drive. The main straight used to be part of the highway through Spa driving to and from Germany to Holland

Everytime I see Apollo IE, I think Devil Sixteen. For me, if I recall correctly, they started development around the same time. But Apollo actually deliverd. And what a dream you got realised Tim!

While I don't have a car like that, I have had some nice cars (Tim you signed my 981 Spyder when in Sydney) and the best satisfaction always came from watching someone else enjoy driving them. This guy gets it. This guy is a true enthusiast and car lover. He not only uses them he lets others use them freely too. Mad props.

It is always great to see these types of cars on track. I mean so many videos are of these type of supercars in a garage or something, seeing it for its intended use is what its all about. Especially for the people who may never see or come close to owning one.
Apart from the sound and feel of the Apollo IE, their paint scheme is the craziest of any car in the world. Back in 2019 (Riyadh Car Show) I met the owner of Apollo and De Tomaso car manufacturer as they were also displaying the P72. There was one of the 10 Apollo IE's displayed having even crazier paint scheme than this one. The owner explained me all the crazy steps they did just to do that paint job and it costs a whopping $100K out of the total $2.3M price tag

Tim is a pretty impressive driver. Not that I’m an expert, but I was just doing spa on my Sim race and he hit every Apex which I thought was pretty impressive.
