Honestly, I respect MMs decision. I think more studios look at the money and big names in the industry for support and sacrifice creative endeavors in the process. It's nice to know that MM moved on because they wanted to shatter new boundaries, and I expect new titles from them to exceed expectations of what a video game should be

Dream’s sole mission was creating a decentralized, low-ish level game development tool. This is a neat, somewhat-noble concept but in actuality it’s not something people actually resonate with past the conceptual level. Lbps create tools might be more limited but the overall effect is so much more powerful than dreams. The limited nature of lbp’s create tools forced creative uses, it kept things delightfully playful, and lbps multiplayer features allowed people to build something together and created real friendships. You’d want to build levels just to show your online friends in lbp. Everything about lbp was just magic and dreams is just not. It’s more like a more complex, amorphous husk of what lbp was. I think that’s why dreams has been a flop and lbp is still adored to this day. Dreams wanted to be everything lbp was and more, but media molecule failed to realize the perfect, *perfect* and harmonious balance they struck with “play.create.share.” in lbp.
Agreed. And also Mm were the ones who sold Lbp to other companies (Tarsier, Sumo, The Station, etcetera) so if anything Mm is partially guilty of killing/butchering the franchise
I don't want to trash Dreams since I haven't really gotten a chance to play it, but I will say that visually I hate how everything in that game looks. Like no matter how impressive the project, visually everything in Dreams just looks cheap and shoddy. LittleBigPlanet's "handcrafted" aesthetic naturally provides better theming and is more charming to look at, no matter the quality of the level.
lbp art style is unreplacable one of the most underrated games of all time I'll never experience new games with similar nostalgic soundtracks, unique levels and memorable characters. media molcule were unique no one can replace them, i hope sumo digital is a good studio, they might be better but it's going to be a different series not the lbp that i loved it's sad that Mm chose this direction, i will never forgive them for this.
I can only hope that they return one last time for a final game. LBP3 was just so buggy and Sackboy's big adventure doesn't really feel like a LBP game. It just needs one grand finale to lay this lovable franchise to rest.

As much as I don't want to accept this, I can respect their decision, I'll keep the memories of what Little Big Planet has brung me in the past, the good times and friends that I made and enjoy still

PS: The First 'M' in 'Community' is capitalized regardless if the full word is spell in ALL CAPS-because the acronym of Media Molecule used to stylised as Mm, with the first 'M' being capitalized and the second one being in lowercase
i think the worst of all is that some assholes crashed the LBP servers so hard online had to be discontinued on ps3 (yknow, the platform with 1&2) and now only works on lpb3 ps4 (unless that was fixed? i saw no news about that tho)
I was sad, and disappointed that they weren't ever gonna make a little big planet game but after hearing of why they left, it honestly makes more sense. I kinda wish they would make a Fourth game on Ps5, (not counting the game where you can't create) but it's their projects of that they wanna make and I respect them for that
they can do what they want but building a whole community and fans base full of people who care about you and support you and leaving it all behind randomly is shitty. they left to make dreams then BAM they left that project too. type “ps4 dreams” onto your search bar and you’ll see tons of videos of them moving on fork support

If only lbp3 wasnt a hot buggy mess. I (and lbp1/2 players) would have actually taken in its beauty and charm. Lbp3 was really a well made sequel and stuck to what made lbp special, but its buggy nature is what cemented it as a trash game in the franchise. Shame we got the timeline we did. Saba is salt on the wound at this point since that game has it's own major flaws

Dont even get me started about how bad playing online is. Lbp3 corrupted my whole ps3 years ago and I still get profile corruptions on the ps4 version.
SABA’s a spinoff that was never meant to replace LBP. It’s an awesome 3D platformer That does represent where the main series could go. If you don’t see it as an LBP game, it’s really fun.
Not gonna lie it also felt like LBP3 took the magic away, I'm not the best with words but there is something about the auto-saving, the extra layers, and the new playable characters that feels a tad like a slap in the face. Not intentionally of course, but there was always a sense of Awe when a new glitch or bug was found and turned into a very useful feature for creators. However when implemented officially for LBP3, it doesn't work. The auto-save feature soft locked the story mode of my main account (the swamp level hub area was I guess under great pressure and broke), and due to the way it works saves backups of levels you've played to your Play station (mine was 3) which took up space I didn't need taken up. The extra layers is cool but it's so easy to misplace what layer your on (i have the least issues with this, I jus don't like it). The characters feel unneeded. Cool designs and all but Sackboy already had it covered, he's a jack of all trades. Flight? Jetpack, bounce pads, low gravity, or a creation. Fast? Launch him, bounce pad, or a creation. Heavy or light? Make him carry/drop something with the grabinators, bouncepad, or a creation. In situations where people needed to create other creatures, they would just make them and get around the problem.
Now Sumo Digital basically owns LittleBigPlanet. Don't worry, Dreams is still a good game, it's just a bit too complicated for me to really make anything.

I play lbp3, it does not bug, maybe it did when it came out, but for years after it has been fine
