I can't believe you have played a bunch of the Shuffle Simulator (Dominion) and still shuffle like a kid xD Don't get me wrong, just a joke around. I do love and respect your work with games. You're a beast among gamers.
@@rahdo Well, as I do just the same xD. I can imagine how do I look when I shuffle it :P I was just kiddin' around bro. Please don't get me worng. I do respect you and your work with games in a huge maner.
Is it worth getting this sans skills mini exp? It looks like it could be fun, but getting the skills expansion with limited availability is prohibitively expensive for it's price and shipping for what it is ($15+shipping for a few cards). Just don't want to end up feeling like I need it after making the purchase.
Cool. Game around Creating a Character and now a game creating the Environment. Like the complete Series cause of this cool idea playing to create an RPG.
Seems odd that they would take the Skill cards out o the retail release. They seem to be an important aspect of the game adding to replayability and player choices.
oh i think the game would stand on it's own with out them, being comparable to other R&Rs. but they are a nice bonus, and the dev said they will be sold seperately in the future, so basically just a mini-expansion :)
@@rahdo good to hear it will be available later. It looks like a nice addition to the genre. Does appear to be removing part of the game though to create pre order demand (rightly or wrongly).
@rahdo or anyone :) what is the cost of the 'negotiate' skill card? It s the only one that is not visible on the online pictures. Thanks for the great review!
sorry i only had the prototype but it's long gone so i can't answer. but anyone in the forums on bgg should be able to help out: boardgamegeek.com/forums/thing/263918/cartographers-roll-player-tale
I loved the Twitter Tolkien quote. Any games you would consider Roll Player itself against? It seemed to beat out Sagrada for your shelf space, but I'm wary about having yet another generic fantasy theme for more Muggle-y friends, and contemplating other attractive settings with commendable play.
yeah, for us RP beat sagrada, but we're geeks who want a heavier game. sagrada is a wonderful alternative though, and i know woudl work much better with inlaws and the like! :)
@@rahdo Really appreciate that! Would love to see a top dice-drafting list from you and Jen - seems a species of game ye're very fond of. Was also looking at your Pandemic: Rome Thoughts and saw you bring this mechanic up against Roll to Resolve, and felt I'd really agree. For this particular roll/flip/verb & write/draw, it sounds like wouldn't make your top-ten? Does seem to have an attractive degree of tie of mechanics and theme, though.
Oh just spotted your top-ten dice game where those two are head to head. Will check your thoughts. I played three straight games of Roll for the Galaxy when I first opened it, so glad to see it as a very deserving number one. Thanks so much for this channel, with wife and in-laws it has brought some lovely gaming moments.

@@rahdo This is lovely and I hope more people spot this Rahdo's runs-through a Top 10 run-through. I just saw Sagrada: The Great Facades - Passion, and am hoping that, as you highlighted about Cacao, there's a smart integration of worthwhile expansions that develop the headroom for strategy. It would add to overall cost against Roll Player, but make it a game without compromises - one that's a satisfying entry, Muggle-friendly, and with scalable depth (for Witches & Wizards :D). Hope there will be a future Sagrada: Passion Run-Through to see, or is your copy of the base game gone already? Must look at finally becoming a backer. I've been supporting SUSD and will continue to, but in the last year many of your reviews have really struck a chord with me/my tastes/situation. Glad to keep you running!
@@Sheriff_K It was already noted... Like Rahdo says at the start of the 1st video, please turn on the Klingon subtitles to see where Richard goofs up… Thanks :)
First of all, I wanna say that because those skills cards are not in the base game, knowing that they're are already created and the game is not out yet, I won't buy this game because I hate these practices. Second, why does Rahdo sounds like he's going to explode ? It's just a silly little game, he has to calm down.
Me: A new Rahdo video! I'm so happy! Rahdo: ... and I'm gonna be doing a solo runthrough... Me: WTF FFS not again On a more serious note: why all these "solo mode" videos? In 99% of the cases, solo mode is not the main game :-(
well, filming solo is SOOOOOOO much easier for me, and i'm much less prone to rules goofs, when i'm not trying to juggle two player's games worth of content in my head. plus, i'm really only doing it when the solo mode doesn't change the core gameplay in any significant way, and that's certainly true here. since this is a basically a bingo style game, you could even play along at home if you made your own grid version...
I enjoy these "solo mode" videos. This game has 1 rules change from solo to multiplayer. Most roll and writes have few changes from solo to multiplayer. So I prefer the solo mode in those cases .
This looks like a brilliant implementation of the Roll Player world with a nice beefing up of the flip and write mechanic. Think I'll preorder.
You made me smile when you threw in the Hamilton quote. Always love your enthusiasm Richard. Thanks for teaching me the game (just bought it!).

It's curious how the simplest ideas in life are often the best. The Victorians had a similar game, I wish I could remember what it was called.

It's a mistake at 19:40. You can't draw a shape adiacent to another previous drawn shape.
the timestamp you mention is the end of the video, so that can't be correct

I'm confused... the rules says "The chosen shape does not have to be drawn adjacent to any shapes previouslydrawn on the map", I'm wrong?
if the rules say that, the rules say that... wat seems to be the confusion?
Does this game play well with two players?
i'd say so :)
