  • Have you been keeping up with the hit TV drama "Shogun"? As each episode progresses, I find myself eagerly anticipating the outcome of the Battle of Sekigahara, which marks the transition to the new Edo Shogunate. Based on the original work, this adaptation of Shogun has surpassed all expectations with its remarkable screenplay and grand scale.☺️
It's quite remarkable, isn't it? Despite being an American production, the show features a predominantly Japanese cast, with Japanese creators taking the lead. In Japan, there's been a trend of traditional period dramas becoming somewhat outdated, mainly attracting older generations. However, Shogun has shattered this stereotype with its dynamic direction and powerful cinematography. This flawless production has left even Japanese audiences with nothing to criticize.🏯
Now, how have we Japanese viewers reacted to Shogun? While opinions vary, the overwhelming majority of comments praise Hiroyuki Sanada's performance as Toranaga. He truly shines, doesn't he? In this Chillax video, we've compiled and analyzed comments from Japanese viewers, providing insights into their reactions. Be sure to subscribe to our channel for more historical insights and discussions.🙇
In our past videos, we've compiled the varying opinions of Japanese people regarding this "Shogun" and explained the characters of the drama in an easy-to-understand manner. So, be sure to subscribe to our channel and watch until the end.
This video compiles rare information not typically covered in standard history school education, so please don't forget to subscribe and give it a thumbs up.
Thank you always watching my vids.

This time, we've incorporated real opinions from Japanese viewers into the video. We also discuss comments regarding the female characters towards the end of the video. Please enjoy watching! Also, we've decided to stop providing English translations for Japanese comments this time. Can everyone understand with just English? We've slightly increased the narration speed, which used to be slower. If you feel the narration is too fast, the sound is too loud, or if you need English subtitles, please let us know in the comments. Lastly, if you have any new discoveries or opinions regarding Japanese comments, please feel free to share them in the comments section. Thank you in advance!😀

I’ve only watched one other of these reactions, but will watch all of them. I fully understand the narrators English, so I’m unsure of the translation comment. I watched the original series and prefer this remake, but both are great. I have many comments from a Westerner’s viewpoint, but I’m still learning about the Japanese culture. I will save my comments for latter.

Thank you very much for watching. And thank you for your valuable opinions.😀 Regarding English, thank you for listening. I use English in my daily life and somehow manage to do the voice-over.😅 By the way, I am Japanese, so please rest assured that I translate Japanese into English almost perfectly, including nuances. Japanese is a difficult language as it contains many meanings in a single word, similar to kanji"漢字". In this video, please consider how Japanese people think about history from a Japanese perspective. Some Japanese people are quite history buffs, so there are some deep insights in the comments. Anyway, thank you for your comments. Like last time, I thought about adding English subtitles for Japanese viewers' comments in this video, but I learned that Western cultures tend not to read subtitles. 😅Therefore, this time, I deliberately omitted English text-based subtitles. Also, please let me know if you have any requests in the video. (Sorry for the long message)🙇

Thank you for your comment.😀 You're right. The mention of 50,000 Japanese slaves is impactful, and I imagine that as an island nation, Japan resisted religious colonization to prevent it from spreading. However, from the perspective outside of Japan, this topic is sensitive and there are mixed opinions. It's complicated, isn't it?😅

your remarks about Christianity and the Bible are very offensive!

Thank you for your comment.😢 I apologize for causing any discomfort, but discussions about Christianity are highly sensitive in Japanese history.😢 While this video presents the perspective of one Japanese individual, it's worth noting that during the late 1590s, when Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who unified Japan in 1590, feared foreign religions as a form of invasion, there were numerous incidents. Japan essentially adopted a policy of isolation from trade with other countries, and it's saddening to reflect on the historical context behind this decision.
