My brother used to work at a karaoke bar on Friday nights and even though I'm an early-to-bed-early-to-rise person, I sometimes I would go spend a few hours and sing a few songs. His favorite was Cher's Strong Enough. But about 10 years ago he started going out with a single mother who had a 2 year old son who had a deadbeat dad. He did everything for that boy. We both fell in love with him, really, and from there he was a part of our family. Not as a 'step', but as blood. One night, about 5 years ago, I went to the bar and I sang this song, looking him in the eye the whole time. First and only time I was able to make my brother cry
This song means so much to me. My biological father abandoned me and my mother when I was a baby. One day my mom met a man. He once said that he fell in love with me the moment he held me in his arms. They got married and he adopted me. He is the best father. 52 years later and I still thank God He brought him into my life
Awesome song! Always brings the tears! I lost the man I called dad back in 2007. I have to admit that I gave this man hell throughout my teens. I constantly disrespected him. I wouldn't listen to him. He never faltered though and continued to treat me like I was biologically his. As we were standing in the church on my wedding day, he kissed my forehead, pulled my veil down, and told me I looked stunning. He held out his arm and said, "Are you ready?" All I said was, "Thank you for everything!" I will never forget his response. "You don't have to thank me! That's what daddies do!" ....but he didn't have to!
You nailed it when you said "You don't have to be blood to be a father." As an adoptive father of three, I can tell you: families are made of love, not DNA.
My sons had the worlds best Stepdad. He sadly left this earth 2017 at young age 49 from massive stroke. We played this song with pictures of him and boys through life at his celebration of life service.
Commenting again for my mom. She loves your reactions but can't type. She suggested Watching You by Rodney Atkins. I'll second that! Mom has some great ideas!
This song gets me hard. My oldest daughter said it reminds her of me. I adopted her from my sister when she was 7. Makes me cry this song and I hope you dance because it reminds me of my kids. I don’t even care if my wife sees haha I’m a big softie
My husband met the man he called dad when he was 3 years old. When we met, my boys were 8 and 9. I think it was because of his dad that he gave me a chance. 30 years later, I’m grieving because cancer took him, but I’m also grateful for him being the daddy he didn’t have to be. Oh god I miss that beautiful man…..
This song hits home for me so much. The difference for me, is it was a mom. Sadly, they did not stay married. But, she asked my dad if she could see us and he said yes. She could have walked away and never looked back. But, lucky for me, she didn’t do that. She lived with me and my family in her later years and passed in 2015. She was an amazing Mom. I miss her so much.
This song makes me cry everytime…my stepdad was my hero, I wish I had understood the choice he made to be my dad when I was younger, I lost him when I was 20
I had this same situation. My dad drowned a month before i was born. So i never knew him except through my grandparents and aunt and uncle. My mom remarried and that man was my dad. I never felt different from the other 5 kids they had together. He always treated me the same. I went by his last name my whole life until i got married. I always felt he was my dad. He passed several years ago and to this day if anyone mention my dad he is the one i talk about because he was my dad.❤
This is such a sweet song. To all those men who are dads they didn't have to be hats off to you. You may not have any idea how important that is the kids who are blessed to have you. ❤ Brad Paisley is such a great artist!
I love this one too, since I am a stepparent & so is my hubby & he has been a real dad to my kids for over 33 years & counting. He released this one in 1999, so that is not his real wife. He married his actress wife, Kimberly Williams Paisley in 2003 & she plays his wife in his 'I'm gonna miss her' video. he can make you laugh, or cry or just plain think. He did a song called 'Welcome to the future' for the Obama's at the white house, when Barack was president & the song is one of my favorite spunkier tunes he does.
I cry every time I hear this song and I had my precious Dad until he passed in 2010 at the age of 83. He and Mom were married for 65 years. I’ve been to a couple of weddings where the stepdad walked the bride down the aisle. In each instance, he was the dad he didn’t have to be. ❤❤
This is one of the best father songs in country music. And my absolute favorite Brad Paisley song! I'm still suggesting Collin Raye! Any song. Particularly Love Me, I Think About You, or Not That Different. You will not regret adding this amazing artist to your country journey ❤
I met the man I call daddy when I was 2yrs old. I was incredibly blessed I had the best dad in the world. Unfortunately he passed of cancer at the young age of 56yrs old. This song is amazing
This is what i like about Brad. He can be so funny or he can make you cry or just make you think about life. Thanks Craig p.s. i know your British but Happy Veterans day from a 20 year retired U.S.A.F.
WOW….this could be my story. My biological father left when I was about four years old. My mama met John when I was 7 1/2 years old. John had a five-year-old daughter and a 2 1/2 year-old son. They knew each other for about 2 1/2 weeks before they got married. This man who was my stepfather very quickly ended up being my dad. In 2018 I lost my mama and then five months later I lost my daddy. He was the daddy that I always wanted. He chose to be my daddy, and for that I am forever grateful. This past August would be five years since he’s been gone. I miss him every day!
Here's a list of country artists you might want to check out. They are. great to listen to>> Loretta Lynn. Rascal Flatts. Alan Jackson. Dwight Yoakam. Tim Mcgraw. Faith Hill. Reba Mcentire. Trisha Yearwood. The Judds. Vince Gill. Billy Currington. Kenny Chesney. Alison Krauss.
I love this song! A current favorite that I hope you react to soon is Dax - "To Be A Man" My favorite vido is the DAX Remix featuring Darius Rucker, but all versions of it are outstanding.
If you want to try some fun country how about The Nitty Gritty Dirt band "fishin in the dark" Georgia Satellites-"keep your hands to yourself" Blake Shelton "Boys round here" or "playboys of the southwestern world" the 2nd one is not as popular as most of Blake's music BUT IT SHOULD BE !!!
I got pregnant my senior year of high school. Had dated my boyfriend for 4 years. I. had my baby girl and he left us almost immediately. I ended up moving to another state with my parents. I met my husband when my daughter was in second grade. He included her in everything we did and he ended up a great dad - (not step dad) - he was her dad and the only dad she ever knew. Could not ask for a better man. What is funny (not really funny) is that my boyfriend got married and they were not able to have children. That feels a little like karma to me but still feel bad for them

I'm a single mom and the first time I heard this song, I cried my eyes out.

My husband love my boys like his own even though they have a Das but, when the need life advice, they go to hubby. He loves his boys!

Same. He’s gone now and I miss him everyday. This song was played at his funeral. 😢
❤
Yes I lost mine just last year. I definitely wasn't always easy on him growing up but he always called me his daughter.
My sons whò are 20 and 19 feel like this about the man im with now and so do my younger 2, such a good man.
You nailed it when you said "You don't have to be blood to be a father." As an adoptive father of three, I can tell you: families are made of love, not DNA.
It sounds like the type of music my family used to play on granny’s covered porch in rural Tennessee! Authentic country 🎸👵🏼💜☮️

He co-wrote the song and it was the true story of the man he wrote the song with
He touches your heart! Loved your reaction ❤

There's too many dads who aren't fathers, but every so often you get fathers that aren't dads. Power storytelling. Phenomenal message.
Great song for a shout out to all those dads that didn't have to be! Love your reactions, very genuine!

My nephew had this song played at his wedding reception for his stepdad. First time I ever saw the man cry.
Always makes me cry! Such a great song. Thanks for the wonderful reaction!!
Fun fact about this video: The baby is Tim McGraw's nephew. Also the story is about a friend of Brad.
I met the man I call daddy when I was 2yrs old. I was incredibly blessed I had the best dad in the world. Unfortunately he passed of cancer at the young age of 56yrs old. This song is amazing
Lee Majors as the step dad!!! Six million Dollar Man !
I never realized until recently that the dad in the video is Lee Majors, the 6 Million Dollar Man.
OMG such a beautiful song. Love me some early Brad Paisley stuff. You should definitely react to ‘’Me Neither’’ it is such a fun song!
If only all step-parents were this way. I was the unwanted step-kid.
