The video in no way went according to how I had planned it out, I was going to do the point of impact screen blackout with a siren sound etc. in all the vids I have done I had this one planned. Unfortunately I just relived it right there on that film and that's when I lost all thought of the way I wanted it to look, to those who watch my vids will just think its another crap video I do, but in essence it was something I wanted to rush and get it over with as soon as I could.... Sorry. The young lady I mention in the vid had seen the accident, she came running, along with her partner from one of those houses on the right, they along with some others now removed my helmet and the lady's partner George I mention, ran back to their house to get me a blanket to keep me covered until medics arrived, they weren't married but I always remembered her surname, as a family a few doors to where I lived in the 70s had the same name.
Ey up John, just discovered your video's, I was born at Listerdale Maternity Home Wickersley, worked at Orgreave Coke Ovens from 66 to 72. This video very special to me, went in the Plough at Catcliffe a few times so it was quite emotional to see it again. Thanks for posting. I live in Tasmania now!
@@philipgeary7555 thank you Philip that area around the Plough has suffered with floods for many years I think it's closed now. The coking plant has now gone it's one huge housing estate. I've a few expats followers from Australia and New Zealand. Also Canada I think they find me by typing in Rotherham.
My mum's side of our family all came from Treeton & Catcliffe, I grew up visiting the area. It'd be good to see a video of how things were back in the 60s.
Hi, it would be great to see for me unfortunately I have no recollection of the area at all, only the route I took or I could have gone over the brow on towards bole hill, it's grown in dwellings that's for sure, some nice houses they've built.
Brought back memories of Treeton for me John. Sorry about your accident and I hope you can feel better about it. I went down Treeton pit on a careers trip in 1970 with Oakwood school. Interesting it was, but not for me.
Thank you Chris, it did depress me for a while, one reason I do these vids it's just to tell some of my life stories. It's done now, do I blame the driver? no. I just count my blessings and consider my self lucky. But I have added 4 stone in wt lol.
Eyup John , a very poignant one ,that video must have been a bit hard to make even after ten years glad you made a full recovery just a shame it ended your cycling journey all si di on't next un pal👍
Cheers Jon, arr, just after ad done them two climbs anarl lol. A just forgot everything I wanted to say, and the way I'd planned to do it. I wernt doing it all again, pretty much how u see it is what was done. Think I chopped 7 mins off in total and that's cos I repeated me sen twice lol.

Thank you, appreciate what you do; but that one must have been very difficult. Take care. Bob M. (Ex R'ham).
Thank you bob I'm not brilliant at this presenting stuff but your kind words are encouraging.
