I would hate to share my bookshelves and space with my sister 😂
It's not that bad but that's coming from sharing this same room our entire lives so we're just used to it I guess lol. The only real problem is her style is magazine perfection while mine is a bit more bohemian (or as she likes to say, "messy") 😂

I love watching reorganizing videos anyway but I especially loved that you turned this into a mini-party of sorts, that made me super nostalgic. (Had a friend in middle school and early years of high school whose room looked like a landfill more often than not, and when she actually cleaned her room up, she would invite me and a mutual friend over for a book organizing party.)

I love going through my bookshelves and reorganizing, especially when I finish reading a whole lot, because a book doesn't go on my shelves unless I have read it. I try to at least once a year.
Kudos to you for only having books you've read on your shelf! I tend to enjoy organizing once I get started but I usually never get started so it doesn't happen very often lol
I have a fair amount of books too, to keep track of what I own as well as what I have & haven’t read, I made spreadsheets in excel! There is an entire tab where ALL of my books are on, sectioned by series, triology & single books. Another tab of the ones i have read, Another tab of the ones I haven’t read and then a tab for a “wish list”

@Jess Seidel omg I have the exact same excel file, just like you mentioned!!! a seperate tab for the ones I've "read", "haven't read", and "want to get". Additionally, a tab for the books that I've read but I don't have at home (probably borrowed from library, or gave away to someone). And they're all in alphabetical order of the authors.

I actually squealed when I saw you have some of the Artemis Fowl books. I feel like they're so rare (at least among BookTubers) and it's a shame cause it's a really good series. this made me wanna re-organize my shelves (again)
I loved the Artemis Fowl series and I'm so excited for the movie! I don't own the full series because I haven't figured out how to get them all to match lol but now I might just buy the new covers. They do seem pretty rare and I feel like they need more love! I think that some people just read them before they had a book tube though so they just never get mentioned here? Hopefully that organization feeling is a good thing? 😂

Haha, same here though! I’ve tried organizing by genre or color, but aesthetics always win out for me
My plan is that when I'm old and grown and have a house with a library (because mark my words I will) then I'll organize it like a library with fiction books in alphabetical order and non-fiction by the dewey decimal system but until then I just do whatever
Also as much as I love the look of rainbow shelves the fact that it breaks up series bugs me relentlessly lol @@beccadoingstuff

You are lucky, I'm from the Netherlands and I read a lot too, and I read a lot in English but I read a lot in Dutch too so I have a lot of books in English and in Dutch. I'm fourteen and I only started to get English lessons in school in seventh grade and I read at a much higher level than my classmates. Sometimes they tease me for reading so much. I figured out that it's just out of jealousy because I've read like 3/4th of the books I see on your shelves and I get much higher grades in English...
You are absolutely amazing! I wish I could be half as smart as you and be able to read in two languages! Yes it probably is jealousy especially if you have read that many books because that is such a an amazing accomplishment! I was never picked on for my love of reading but I do get called a nerd a lot, and not always in a loving way, but I am proud of being a nerd so if there's any advice I can offer it's to be proud with who you are

0:46 i got rid of a bunch of my books because i hated having so much stuff, at least now i can read the books i do have because the collection is more manageable, most of them are non fiction/college textbooks.

i'm not normally a person that reads a book and then years later read it again, i normally just read it and then never read it again. But recently there have been some books that i am really wanting to re-read. i'm also currently trying to buy more books for the book series i like but the bookshelf i have been using is a tiny box on my wall because before i didn't read much but now i have been buying loads of books and planning to read them. my bookshelf is basically full (the most i can fit on my bookshelf is like 15 books maybe less) and the books that are filling it up are my diary of the wimpy kid books, and i don't really read them anymore but they're like fun little books to read and i have the full collection so i would like to read them all (i've only read like 3 or 4/9) and i'm in a bit of a dilemma because i don't really wanna get rid of them. sorry for my rant it's probably irrelevant to everyone, i just wanted to tell somebody lol

Years ago I gutted my bookshelf. Worst decision ever. I was going through some life events that were hard. Every one was decluttering blah blah blah. So wish I still had most of them.
I've been okay with getting rid of all the books I did and I did one more sort through but I haven't been able to do another lol so I just keep getting more

You could do the jump cut thing of you taking them off then actually organize them off camera and once you're done do the same thing of you putting them back on? Then it's just the shelves being emptied and re-filled.

ahahhaah you having 5 copies of Dracula is a mood tbh. I think the only books I have more than one is the great Gatsby, Alice's adventures in Wonderland and Dracula (one in my native language and one in english) and 2 copies of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes (I'm not sure if that's how you say in English, that's just the literal translation) because im impulsive tbh
Dracula is the bee's knees and owning multiple copies is the move ✌🏼 The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is correct! Impulsive book buys are the best book buys. Did you ever read book in your native language (mind if I ask what it is?) and then read the same book in English to help you learn? I've considered trying that to help me with Spanish
SimplyABookLover I sometimes do that, not as frequently as I wanted though. I only started doing that recently maybe 1/2 years ago, but it definitely helped me improve my vocabulary. I prefer buying the books in English because they are way cheaper: I once saw a brand new copy of The Great Gatsby in English at 3€ or something, but the cheapest version you could find of the same book in Portuguese was over 10€.
it's still hard, but because it's the second time reading it's easier to focus on the vocabulary, instead of the plot or characters, without being afraid of being afraid of getting confused.
The first time I did this, I started with only being able to read less than a 10 pages. When I tried reading the same book, I was able to read until I was halfway and just stopped because if school work and stuff
(btw totally agree with impulsive buys, I wasn't even planning on buying the entire Sherlock collection but it's not every day you find the entire freaking collection - it was actually missing a book but whatever - costing less than 18€!!!)

I go through my book collection every year and the books I don't care anymore go to donation. If I feel like reading any of them again I borrow it from a library ... Since I've reduce the amount of books in my house I know exacly what books I own, so it's not that difficult to keep track of them... and I don't buy that many books anymore, quality over quantity

I can't stand organizing my bookshelf. Its just so boring to me. I mean, I love the look of a fresh clean shelf but its not worth the work most of the time. Also, I don't know how you can stand to share a book space with siblings. I won't let my sisters anywhere near my books for anything!
I don't do it that much but that's mostly because it's just so much work. We've literally shared a room our entire lives so it's my normal at this point lol :)

Are your eyes two different colours or am I seeing things? I have one green eye and one hazel eye but it's hard to tell unless you're really looking
I don't think they are? They do the whole "changing colors" thing so sometimes they look more green and sometimes they're more blue but I'm fairly certain they're usually the same color? Idk though 😂 That's so cool that yours are like that!

That's a good idea. If I ever get a full wall of bookshelves then I'll probably organize by author/dewey decimal system but since my shelves are kind of mismatched then I feel like my books can be wherever. As long as I know where stuff is I'm happy

I sadly have only 1 bookshelf that doesn’t even fit half my books :( I’m never getting rid of any of them though once I tried trading some at a bookstore for money ( it was 20 books including original Nancy drew books) never doing that again I only got 10 $

Your local library, bookoutlet, thriftbooks, the amazon and barnes and noble secondary seller things, thrift stores, goodwill, half price books, and used bookstores are my go to :)

Haha no, when we adopted him he came with the name but I did ask to change the spelling from Waylon to Wylan because of Wylan van Eck (unfortunately my family said no so Waylon it is)
