Nice video. I like places like Parque Bicentenario, and other parts of Vitacura and Las Condes. You should visit Valle Nevado, a the ski resorts near Santiago, it is nice even in the summer. Thank you for pointing out the bus service at the airport. From an earlier video you said you can't dump toilet paper in the toilets in Chile. In some areas is true due to old pipes or small towns but I never had that problem.
While I agree that you should definitely avoid the bad areas of Santiago, I would also recommend that people go to some of the "less well off" comunas of Santiago to see how the normal Chilean lives. Las Condes, Providencia, Vitacura and even parts of Santiago Centro can be beautiful, but they don't show or accurately portray the real Chile, nor how the average Chilean lives.
You have to go to cachagua zapallar y maintencillo.... and on the way pass by con con you gonna freak out!!!.... trust me you will want to live there ... is more than beautiful is mix of Europe in a Chilean style
Very useful video Jon, I also find way too expensive the Costanera Center mirador, fifteen thousands pesos?? those people are crazy. I'm interested to know what are your impressions about Mapocho river, what would you do to make it more turistic? thanks. Blessings to you and Elise and Moses, kind of déjà vu-ish the last part of the video ha ha ha.
Christian Martínez hey Christian! Thanks for the comment! I honestly don’t know what I would do to make it more touristic but I do know that San Antonio has made its river very touristic so maybe something that they did could be replicated? www.sanantonioriverwalk.com
@@JonGrossGringo thanks Jon!, I think San Antonio River Walk is perfect to be replicated in Santiago, I saw some videos and the place is beautiful, much more touristic than our Mapocho river, it would need a lot of engineering to avoid river rises in the winter but I think it's perfectly doable. I hope some day Santiago can have its own River Walk, the Mapocho the way it is right now is a black dot in our capitol city. I really think that the future of Chile lies in the tourism.
I guess you say Metro is cheap compared to other subway companies around the world 😂 because for me it's getting expensive every year. Great video as usual, very honest.🖖 P.D.: Yes, I agree, Costanera building is ridicously expensive, as we say here "te cuesta un ojo de la cara". 😂
Saludos Jon Gross ✌️
The taxis on the costanera center are a tourist trap, they scam tourists with adulterated taximeters, and charge fares disproportionately high as 30.000 pesos for a trip that only costs 5000 approximately. Also in that places is signaled that cars and taxis can't stop there and even that they do that. I recommend to use a app called easy taxi, that is like Uber, but only of taxis. That is a trustful option that gives the security that you will get charged the exact amount of money that you have to pay for.
