Hi . I just finished installing this on my bike . Took the entire day . The 7 and 10 cutting mark are in cm not inches. The reason for the offset is to fit inside the plastic tube supplied by the kit . The metal shim that you say looks like crap is to hold the wires in place . I had no problems with excess wiring .
This looks awesome. I would like to install one on my ST1300 but I think it would throw off the old school look. Great video brother!
Your vids are amazing. Very detailed. Thanks.
Integrated tail light and a flush mount plate that tucks under the rear is kind of hard to beat for the streamline look. I know you like the arm, but it costs an arm and a leg. 😜
I like the way it looks like it's floating and hugging the back wheel, I'm with you on the under seat plates I think the look naff.
I want to get rid of that entire thing over the rear wheel but short of taking it back to the dealer or a shop, I can't find where it talks about cutting the electrical wires. Any help? I bought a plate eliminator which places the plate under the rear seat but there is nothing about removing this plate LED wiring.
I like it much better than stock. I don't mind the looks of the "under tail" kits but, I don't like that some bikes throw water on you when riding in rain. I'm interested in the quick shifter for the FJR. I hope it works well.
Oh it did, it works flawlessly!
Can you send the link of that plate holder you installed?
I believe the little plate that you did not use is for re-enforcement as the whole thing gets shaken quite a bit on the swing arm. A big plate is better than two small washers for load spreading.
Same cost as the Yoshimura fender eliminator, which gets rid of the axle fender arm altogether. I was secretly hoping you'd pick it up eventually, but it seems you're staying with the current fender style. Thanks for the detailed vid as always!
Yep I love the rear fender
To each his own, Bryan is one of the respected reveiwers here, some of us may not necessarily agree with his choices but nevertheles appreciate the detais of his vids and more importantly learns from the diy stuff he uploads. Personaly, i did a couple of mods on my bike following his diy instructions!
The plate that was bent up on one side looks like you put the wire behind it right where it has the bend. With the wire behind it it would not show. Just a thought.
Nope, too small
2001himax That is exactly what it‘s used for.
Thanks for the updates, my interests are with the FJR since I have one. About the bent plate in this vid, maybe it gives enough room to trap the wire behind it so not to be hanging loose next to the wheel. Just a thought.
Keep up the good work, I wish we had the sunshine you have in the U.K. 👍
I thought that too, but no, not the right size.
Is this still available? I can't find it anywhere online or any part number
hey i really like the mt-09 plate older but i have mt-07 - 2018 can i install mt-09 stile plate holder on mt-07?? thank you
Definitely a more streamlined look. I like it. Another great video. Just thinking, that extra metal finished rectangle piece with the edges slightly bended...I’m wondering if Yamaha had indented that to provide a small recess gap to fit excess wiring/connectors? Regardless your final solution looked cleaner without it. Great work and thanks for sharing.
Quick shifter? Looking forward that one
Qual o link pra comprar por favor passa ai
BTW I like your photoshop skills on the xsr900 seat lol
8.55 - What if you bend it inside out? Then the white will be inwards. =)
I have one question that’s bugging me : I am trying to find a male connector so I can connect the new tail light wires to the oem connector without having to cut any wires . Do you know if it’s possible ?
You can buy the Yamaha OEM connectors from TST Industries.
Is that universal?
Great video! Got a question, Does this kit come with parts to relocate the rear signal indicator to the license plate holder?
no
TwoWheelObsession alright cool, Thanks
Much better than stock...but as you said, not worth the money. Did you know that PUIG make arm license holder too? It's around 120€ and it's pretty minimalistic.
And I am with you too on the topic of under seat vs. axle arm. I think it looks different in a good way, and more modern.
And yeah...we have effin huge license plates in EU.
The aftermarket units are too small, no fender protection from spray.
Link product Plis
I personally removed the rear fender. I hate the look. That being said, this looks way better than the stock piece.
Looking forward to seeing what quickshifter you got for the FJR.
Healtech
TwoWheelObsession interested to see how well it performs.
Flawlessly it’s awesome!
way cleaner! i have the same setup on my bike. 🖒
Just some info for European viewers: the red rectangular reflector is absolutely mandatory all over Europe. The bike will fail inspection if you don't have it (in the countries with bike inspections).
Critical Rider in the UK MOT you can get away with just one of those small red reflectors stuck on the plate
Well, the UK is not really Europe :D Just kidding. I know it's mandatory in France, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands and Germany, and they have to have the CE marking, so I assumed it was the same all over Europe. Anyway, thanks for the correction.
Haha, yeah we will see how that goes. Surprisingly the laws on motorbikes are pretty lax but with all this scooter crime in London I think that is due to change soon, oh well.
So many opinions about this rear fender, sure it's ugly, looks like a Harley from the back. The BMW GS that has the same system, I saw one that had picked up a large plastic bag, locked up the wheel & broke off the support bracket.
Whatever you feel comfortable with.
i'll just keep my stock rear fender + reflector delete, too much of a hassle for me haha.
That looked like the wrong type of solder. Should be rosin core for electrical connections.
It is rosin core. It’s not my first rodeo. Don’t assume things.
Okay, well the blobs of solder looked much larger than I typically see, which is typical of other types of solder that don't flow into the copper as well.
Looks good
I think I will just take a dremel to the original one and see what happens! :)
Very good video . But why not film all the steps ? I mean the entire uncut video? I don’t mind watching an hour long movie
Looks nice, but a lot of work and money!
please donate me the rear one :D
The FZ09 looks foolish with that arm over the rear tire. Why anybody would keep it, is beyond me.
Because some of us like it ;)
TwoWheelObsession Yes. Everyone has their opinion...you are correct. But god does it look so much cleaner without it.
And to me, sticking an ugly plate under the seat looks sloppy and out of place li,e any bike from the 90s
TwoWheelObsession I agree. I did not like that option either. Be creative. With all the comments you have on the fz09 forums...im sure you can come up with something that does not look like frankenstein was involved. But if you like the arm then no harm done. Cheers.
Don't like it, just put the plate under the seat.
As I said in the vid...I hate that look
