this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. any time I've ever started thinking that i knew peoples motives and what they wanted from me or how they'd react, it has been an absolute nightmare. I would get these expectations and when they wouldn't get met, it was really confusing for me, and for them. Sometimes arguments happen. I just don't think that there is any other way than just to ask people what they want or think or whatever. also, your perspective can never be correct. That is the only thing that I really know. So, Yeah, going around projecting your perspective onto what other people might think or do is just a setup for failure at some point. That is all I have to say,.

Hopefully, you've found a therapist who TRULY understands adult female ADHD bc our traits aren't the same as what kids experience. Yes, there are similarities, but it's not the same. I say this as someone who's seen a LOT of therapists in my adult life. I'm seeing a therapist at the moment who has a child with ADHD & I know she THINKS she knows a lot about ADHD, but she doesn't know about how it presents as a woman in mid-life. I don't do well being told what to do, but yet she'll tell me to do things & hasn't caught on why I don't follow through on them. I'm not trying to be obstinate or a jerk, I just don't do well being told what to do, which I think is probably pretty universal amongst us neurodivergents. Looking back, my advice to you is to listen to podcasts & watch videos of ADHD experts to learn allll you can about this stuff. THAT will give you a roadmap on what to work on with your therapist. Best wishes to you & welcome to the club! ❤
