Almost like a magical spell from the Old World. Feels really mythological that a gang of children restarts a successful civilization, Like the kid here Skyfisher, Just became a new class of wizard now that he proved that the Sonic is true and it's pointing them to the promised land.

@Aaron Barranco Here we have a person who has never opened a dictionary. If they had they would have realised that their is a difference between protaganist and hero. That truck body/train setup is absolutley sick. I know it's a movie, but that gearhead part of me asks, how was it built, what kind of engine ran it?? Fucking genius engineering and building. Alot of the Mad Max Trilogy vehicles were like that. Of course, the original Interceptor, a 1979 Ford Falcon, with Weiand intake on top a 351, with that insane blower. The Aussies have it right, even to this day: take a Ford Fox body (like a USA Mustang) and make THAT thing!
I think the Intercepter was a '73 Falcon XB, the Australian version of the American Torino GT. The Bartertown truck was a 1960's era B-Series Mack truck. It hadn't occurred to me then, but now I rationally ask, "If Bartertown runs on methane, and the truck broke away from that fuel source, how does it stay running?".
trouble with beyond thunderdome is that it doesn't really add anything. The first half had all the new ideas but then the plot retreats into road warrior.
Max Lost Everything On Three Movies. Mad Max: Lost His Best Friend And His Family. Mad Max The Road Warrior: Lost His Car And His Dog. Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome: Lost His Weapons And His Jacket.
Its a great sequel and the continuity in the Road Warrior universe is great. Its a cring-ey film because its too much Hollywood, between the scores and the scenes. Its non-sequitir to throw the music with these themes. Add the G-PG- and back again, its too damned much
This makes sense if you ve read Lord Of The Flies, for example. The scenes play in your head and you watch the movie and the scenes are just "too" airbrushed. This is that. Thematically and intelligently brilliant, but the visual ratio is an awful match, especially the music, with the G-Pg, R ( wait!)...and back-thing
It's how the Lord of the Flies kids would have turned out if they grew up on their own. Primitive hunter-gathers with a distorted view of modern society.
I was never a fan of this movie. Unlike Road Warrior, I never felt that they were in real danger at any time. I couldn’t feel the tension that permeated the second film. And the annoying extreme closeup of the bad guys for no reason was ridiculous. Is this a good movie as a generic adventure flick? Yes. Did it feel like it was part of the Road Warrior universe? Not so much. Everything felt silly, almost like a parody, such as the frying pan scene here.
Its basically two movies put together. Miller did the first half and then came someone unknown who wanted to make a apocalyptic version of "lord of the flies" and he just put his idea in mad max. Beyond thunderdome making was hard for Miller after his friend's death so he didn't care much for the film. The pg lowering damaged the movie heavily. I have a conflict with that movie. I like this movie and deeply hate it at the same time.
Yeah, and chasing a train is also a problem. A train can go faster, or slower... and that's about it. There's not a lot of evasive action you can take when you're stuck on rails, and everybody's gonna know where you end up, even if they don't catch up immediately. So that kind of kills the whole chase thing. There's no "driving," which is a core component of Mad Max movies.
This movie hammered me seeing it as a kid. It might not be the “best” in the MM series but it did more to flesh out the world. Also remember when this entire chase sequence blew your mind and you thought nothing would top it - then 30 years later Fury Road came out? 😮
The “Im going home” part with the record is so moving. Has always stuck with me since I first saw it as child.

He also lost his iconic sawed off shotgun in Bartertown
To be fair I'm surprised his uniform lasted 20 years in that environment to begin with.
Don’t worry he searched the wastelands and found it again for Fury Road :)

I think this was kind of a children's movie. It was about fulfilling the hopes and dreams of children vs. the harsh realities that exist.
Only the final chase scene was a copy of Road Warrior. They even had Bruce Spence playing the pilot (The Gyrocopter pilot from the previous movie)
