    "Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Trump lawyer John Sauer had a stunning exchange over whether presidential immunity covers the assassination of political rivals during Thursday’s Supreme Court hearing.
    Sauer had previously argued that under certain circumstances, a president could order Seal Team Six to assassinate a political rival and not face prosecution, at an appeal hearing on former President Donald Trump’s claim of presidential immunity."

      Trump lawyer argues for presidential immunity. He brings up these three examples. 1. Bush lied to congress to induce war with Iraq. 2. Obama ordered drone strikes to kill U.S. citizens abroad. 3. Biden induced foreigners to enter the U.S. illegally.

      I have a better solution.
      If I was Biden, I would put the secret service and the capitol police in the court room and advise the SCOTUS that if they decide that the president is immune from prosecution when it's an official duty... as soon as they side with total immunity on all circonstances to save Trump... the justices who voted for it would be immediately arrested on corruption charges and put in jail for the rest of their lives.
      I wonder if they would vote for that knowing what is waiting for them.
      And I would personally do it in an heartbeat. Trump appointed the partisan judges who are ruling on his case, they should have recused themselves, if not it proves they are corrupted and are totally partial.
      Then I would appoint 3 un corrupted justices and let the justice system deal with Trump if he's guilty or not that's up to the court system.

      Comment section WILD with those urging a political assassination

    • @ashleybishop7248
      @ashleybishop7248 18 дней назад

      @@sonjakozman1699 Back in January it was Trump's attorneys who stated political assassination by the president was fine. "Trump’s legal team suggested Tuesday that even a president directing SEAL Team Six to kill a political opponent would be an action barred from prosecution given a former executive’s broad immunity to criminal prosecution.
      The hypothetical was presented to Trump attorney John Sauer who answered with a “qualified yes” that a former president would be immune from prosecution on that matter or even on selling pardons."
      If the president's immune, the president's immune. And Biden happens to be the president. So the answer is YES, Biden could order the assassination of his political rivals without consequences. Biden could issue pardons for anyone who carried out said assassinations without consequences. Biden could order the assassination of any member of Congress who even whispered the word "impeachment" without consequences. Biden could stage a coup without consequences. Do you see how stupid the "absolute immunity" argument is?

      @@wipeoutxl21 I mean it'd be better than what we have, but i'd still want them to be reconfirmed by vote in a year or 2. That's the rule here in Florida.
      For me the ideal is more toward the Roman model. Have all the appellate judges rotate into it for a seven-year term. Take them by the order of their inauguration. And have the appellate judges nominated by a pair of former Presidents who both have to agree. Those were called Censors and were elected by the Senate for 5-year terms. There were lots of former "presidents" to choose from because they elected 2 each year and then at the end of the 1-year term they had to be off for 10 years before they could serve again.
      The censors' principal duty (besides assessing property taxes) was to rebalance the Senate twice every five years based on census figures, but since the Senate contained all the judges, the Censors also effectively chose the judges. By keeping this responsibility away from the head of state, they enforced a greater dispersal of powers than we have today. Also there 2 Tribunes who were popularly elected each year to serve for a year, whose sole duty was to review records and veto any action they disapproved of. So each Tribune had veto power over every judicial appointment.
      And the Senators had the sole power to remove judges for cause, not by 2/3 but by a simple majority, and not only for conviction of a crime but for any reason the Senators saw fit.

    How is a president's immunity to criminal prosecution even being discussed here??? This should be an open and shut case. I think if they rule that Trump has immunity (therefore, all presidents have immunity), Biden should put Trump in Gitmo, never to be heard from again. The American people (most of them) would thank him.

    Donald trump actually believes that every president needs to overlook OUR Constitution, the guidebook, the barometer for civility and justice for ALL citizens. donald trump thinks presidents need to commit crimes with immunity and impunity in order to run OUR Country. I don’t know if I want to live in a country anymore that the leader adheres to and supports criminal activity and is supported by so many people whose own rights he wants to completely strip away. Where and when and how would it stop?
