"Several prominent Republican politicians and conservative commentators condemned House Republicans and Democrats for passing a “hate speech” bill on Wednesday, which would define examples of anti-Semitism to include criticisms of Israel and “claims of Jews killing Jesus.”
“Antisemitism is wrong, but this legislation is written without regard for the Constitution, common sense, or even the common understanding of the meaning of words,” wrote Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), one of just 21 Republicans to vote against the bill. “The Gospel itself would meet the definition of antisemitism under the terms of this bill!”"

But freedom from consequences IS what free speech means. If the consequence of speaking is being fined or going to jail, that isn't free speech. What do you mean "consequences"?

In simple terms, this means that any criticism of Israel's policies is anti-semitic by legal definition. And it means that Israel can actually do whatever they want now and the rest of the world just has to accept it. First, this has always been the system. You have NEVER been allowed to criticize Israel. Not privately, among friends, not even among family. And certainly not in the workplace, where you will most certainly get fired. It's just that, now, it's an official law.
Secondly, they don't need for you to say anything that is anti Israel or antisemitic. I was fired from a job because i insisted that my boss make good on his promise to pay for a health insurance plan, a condition he agreed to when he hired me. Then he challenged my unemployment benefits by saying i was fired for cause because I called him a Jew bastard, something which never happened. Not only that, he went around spreading this lie to keep me from getting another job. So, the weaponization if antisemitism victimhood has always existed, and they don't even need a law for that. It's just like the students who are now claiming to be victims of antisemitism on the college campuses where there are propalestinian protests.

Today, almost every nation in the world is managed by a government that doesn't represent their people but still do whatever they want. If the USA ever came to be the only nation that at one point really represented the people was because the people was in charge of its government thanks to a well written Constitution that was the King and the law.
This was something never seen before in human history. It also became a nation most of the world came to love and admire and wanted to be like it.
