I have an SL-1200M7L and SL-1200G, while one is on the bottom end of the 1200 productline and the other one on the top, both sound great. This one is in between the two, so I'd expect it to sound great too. I highly recommend adding a tonearm fluid damper to it though, takes it up a notch.
I have the GR. Excellent build and plays perfect. Using a ortofon bronze cartridge. Now that the 1200GR2 is coming out maybe you can catch this model on sale.
Es hermoso y, por lo que he leído, tiene tecnología de primera para hacerlo totalmente silencioso... Tengo un Technics SL-1700, de 1979, que aún funciona de maravillas. Los platos Technics suelen ser excelentes.
I think the two holes in the platter are there so you can lower the platter without it being sideways and possibly damaging the spindle ;). Definitely need this when you take it off to clean/travel. Nice TT. Party on 🖤🍭😎🦾
I bought my GR several years ago when they were made in Japan. They've closed their Japan plant and moved everything made by Technics to a giant plant in Indonesia.
Technics SL-1200GR AU$2,849 11.5 kg Pioneer PLX-1000 AU$949 14.6 kg Pioneer is lot better build and better sound quality. It is more stable, better motor, refined tonearm to better standard, better insulation, yet more simplified for maintenance and more capable power. Why would you want to pay 3 x for less just for the brand name?
Hello Paul does the Technics have the superior plastic base that the Pioneer sports... Rubber is the main material used in all superior turntables but not tennis balls??.. My GR2 has the noise cancellation technology within the power supply and motor... The Pioneer lacks this and is obviously the reason why it sounds better... Don't the Pioneers have loose arm bearings and poor internal wire..2 KG of rubber is a must like my 1210 mk 2 Technics with Rega arm xternal PS blah blah blah... The lack of hinges on the Pioneer
@@matthewtaylor7355 In witch planet do you come from comparing a table that is more than 3 x the coin. Also the GR2 is available from December so you are full of it. I guess that 11.5 kg vs 14.6 kg from Pioneer indicates something to you and take away the "2 kg" I guess we are left with plastic plus it does nothing to insulate the electrics on the table. Can I ask how are the other turntables transported that doesn't get loose bearings as it seems the only table in your mind that goes back on the truck is Pioneer? If you don't know how to adjust your turntable I think you should stick with the cheap ones that are locktited. Good luck with that if it ever needs maintenance. It is a 1 minute job that most do easily. 2010 Pioneer bought the rights for the Technics but these were improved not used to copy. And how much did your "1210 mk 2 Technics with Rega arm xternal PS blah blah blah..." cost? Hinges? Are you joking? The cover lifts off to make it lot more easier? Have you ever seen a DJ working on the table with the cover attached? HaHaHa. First you talk about a TT that hasn't even been launched yet and then you compare to something that has been modified. Entertaining.
I've owned a PLX-1000 in the past and nope, its motor is not better. These newly designed Technics motors are really good. Plinth of the PLX-1000 is indeed more solid though.
@@paulboyce8537 Yes, starting torque is lower, so the platter starts up a bit slower. This might be an issue for scratch DJs, but not for beatmatching or home use. w/f spec of the technics turntables was measured using a test record, which doesn't go lower than 0.025%, while the w/f spec of the pioneer was measured at the output of the FG coil.
The best ever...

Would be a dream to own a set on those❤❤❤
It’s a great turntable!
My current income doesn’t allow for one of these.
Can we dj with these or must we stick to the 1210's?
@@bitbotrecords I can’t see why not.
I love that turntable but I can't afford it❤❤❤❤❤❤ thank you for showing me it's beautiful
Very very nice

Fantastic 👍👍👍
I love my 1210GRs.
It certainly would be nice to have one.
what is the end on that power cable? Do you know how many volts if it's DC line in?
Are these still made in Japan? Nice looking deck, I bought a PLX 1000 not regretted it, plays wonderfully and it’s solid.

@@roymoxley2587 Just make sure you get an international one, because the US and Japanese ones don't accept 220V.
