Thank you for shining light on boxers from outside of the American sphere. I don't think people realize how hard it is for some of these guys, especially in the lower weight classes, to gain real fame and fortune

And than when they do and take a big fight in america down the line after spending they’re whole entire lives fighting and giving everything for that opportunity and than they get robbed in America and than 6 months later nobody acknowledges the guy got robbed and he’s an afterthought in boxing and loses everything he worked for.

    • @cfs7338
      @cfs7338 Год назад +27

@@mr.fukk12 Facts. A great example is Rolly vs Ismael Barroso. Rolly is a guy who only is relevant because he's got a big mouth + his alignment with Mayweather promotions. He got an extremely privileged title shot at 140 against a Venezuelan who worked his way up the rankings the hard way. Dude gets a complete gift stoppage, and just like that Barroso gets robbed from his world title and all the opportunities that comes with it.

Having one Olympic gold medal says a lot but having won TWO Olympic gold medals says you are of a rare breed champion level boxer!
That says you are destined to become a world champion at professional - if you have the hunger to go there!
Or having gone houndreds of legit amature matches and competed in a lot of; Olympics, World Championships, European Championships, Commonwealth Games, South America Championships etc. says you are a well-rounded boxer with a lot of training, ring experience and top level competition experiences that equals you to be a serious championship contender. You manage to have a mix of all this under your belt = Then YES! You will be given a big boost as a proffesional boxer on your way up!
Lomachenko had TWO Olympic gold medals. To my knowledge, he is the ONLY PRO world champion P4P boxer who have ever accomplished that.
"Sugar" Ray Leonard was a superstar and earned $400.000 in his very 1st professional bout - Marvin Hagler at the same time earned $50 bucks in his 1st PRO match!

@@mongoslade277 Well that is depending on how old you are when turning PRO. If you have tallent early like Lewisor Khan, then it is possible to compete in 2 OG.
Lets take Amir Kahn for example. He was just incredible 17 young when he won an Olympic silver medal back in 2004. He was solid all the way to the final where he met an far to exsperienced Cuban who defended his gold.
BUT lets say Khan won that gold for this example. he then continues as an amature till the next Olympics in Bejing 2008 and this time he is 21 years young and still considered incredible young for this level of competition and wins his 2nd gold, this time with more bravado!
He turns Pro in January 2009 at age 21 to be 22 and still have incredible amount of time to develop his PRO craft and learn the ways of PRO boxing. He is at this point that "rare super breed".
We all know inreality Amir Khan never became all this, but he was a good example. Lomachenko's problem is to few fights as he seemed them to be not worthy unless he fought for a championship, and even then to fe title defences made him waste time.

@@CLC407 Yeah, that is fully correct. I overdid the numbers there as I was unsure of the amount until now when I went back and looked at his PRO boxing career.
Overdid it by 600K :-D That was a lot so to speak.

Bro I'm from Australia and there are so many great Australian fighters but most of them are not boxers. Alexander volkanovski the MMA fighter is probably the best fighter in the world currently. John Wayne parr is one of the greatest Muay Thai fighters of all time. But the best boxer from Australia has to be Kostya Tszyu without a doubt.

I’ve linked every fight video I can find of them to their boxrec pages if anyone’s interested in watching the Fierce Eagle and Watanabe during their heydays.

I’m from Canada and Winnipeg so the best fighter to ever be born in Canada is of course the great MMA fighter Georges Saint-Pierre. The best fighter to ever call Winnipeg home was former WBC light-heavyweight champion Donny Lalonde.
The best kick-boxer I’d say would be Joesph Valtilini and as for Muay Thai fighter I wouldn’t have a clue because of the lack of media coverage available.

    Couple of things.
I have no problem classing Jake Paul as a boxer when he fights professional boxers. His first real boxer he faced was a boxer and under the age of 35 was Tommy Fury and he lost (no issue with a loss as you can always come back from that). However Jake Paul is chasing big names who can make him money and are not really boxers, again I have no issue with that other than they are not real boxing matches in my eyes (Just my opinion though).
As for Boxers from my Country being Scottish there are loads, the main one at the moment is Josh Taylor and is currently my favourite boxer. However I cannot look past Taylors idol and one the greatest of all time.... Ken Buchanan, who sadly passed away 1st Apr 2023... RIP my good man.

michael moorer is the same as rey mercer, only at least he would become major champ years later, people say he's a 2 time champ while others say he's a 3 time, heavyweight champ because he strip the WBO after winning it, and then became lineage and a real major until his first loss came, the WBO was not major.
