- Learn how to seam your knitting with mattress stitch three ways.
Vertical mattress stitch is used to join rows to rows, such as for a side seam or a sleeve seam. Horizontal mattress stitch joins cast-on or bound-off stitches, such as for a shoulder seam. And perpendicular mattress stitch joins stitches to rows, such as for sewing a sleeve to an armhole edge.

Very cool! I have a blanket I finally finished "knitting" and all that's left is connecting them! Now I can finally call that blanket DONE! Great presentation. This one goes in my "keeper" list! Thanks
Thank you for this excellent presentation. I especially appreciate the formula for calculating stitch-to-row gauge for seaming as well as picking up!
Super helpful thank you for showing this
Glad it was helpful!
Really done well video instructions.
Thank you for this helpful video. Saved this one for future reference.
This is a beautiful thing. Such a needed tutorial. I mostly crochet, but knitted a sweater last year and it wasn’t clear about the 1-2 ratio when stitching sleeve to shoulder. Thanks for this video. 👌
How do you sew a blanket stitch on purl rows for Arran knitting please?
