Well what did you expect? this is Peggy Hill we are talking about! This is the woman who thinks everything she does is right and falsely accused someone of something they did. I mean she didn't even side with Hank when she thought he rented adult videos and even said that he would only listen to her if she removed her shirt and dance funny like those women in those videos. I mean look at that face at 7:41, That face needs to be kicked and punched and slapped at the same time. It no wondering she's the second hated female of the main characters.
Makes you wonder who wrote Peggy in this episode. That woman absolutely Hank to death and would go to bat for him every time. So why was she written like THIS?! Why Peggy, of all people, actually believes the mob over her own husband?!
I don’t mind this episode, but that’s because as a Hispanic woman I have seen this all my life. Simple misunderstandings getting blown out of proportion. I mean just look at JK Rowling. She didn’t say anything against transgender people, her tweets simply said there are differences experience between trans women and women but she gets accused of hating them. I actually remember seeing that same test in the news, it was being pushed by the media that it was a good test and people should take it. most people saw this test as stupid and divisive. It later was not only debunked but the guy who made the test was also racist. I love that this episode showed that it was an absurd test before it was debunked.
I'm Hispanic as well, and I grew up in a pretty diverse neighborhood in south Arlington, TX. I rarely saw misunderstandings go _this_ crazy. My main gripe, aside from the ludicrous way the townspeople handled the situation, is that it was solved by effectively allowing an innocent person get mauled by Hank's dog just so Hank could look better.
This episode foretold the future. Gotta love how it disproves the implicit bias test like a decade before it became the most popular tool to attack people with.
I'm feel bad for Hank in that situation and I black. I don't like the fact everybody overreacted Hank pet ladybird bite black dude how in the world did everybody in the church know the situation I hate that episode
We shouldn't judge someone based on a misunderstanding. They should've went to Hank to hear his side of what happened, instead of believing one side, and making the other party a social pariah. That's what this episode taught me.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😌😌😌
It poorly addressed an issue and half asked it, y'all seem more worried by the accusations of racism than the actual racism that's hurting and killing marginalized people as well.
Harvey, could you please discuss the Thanksgiving episode where Bobby had to do a lot of homemaking for his home ec class, but Peggy got weirdly jealous of her own son? That, to me, is Peggy at one of her worst.
Hi Tara! Thank you for your comment! I think that is one of Peggy's less than stellar moments, yes. Though I do have a little bit of sympathy for her, because growing up she was constantly put down by her own mother. So Peggy being a good mother herself is a huge part of her identity. Bobby taking over that role by cooking and cleaning and being better at it (as superficial as it is in the role of a wife and mother) is a bit of a blow to her entire worldview. She took it too far by taking the turkey, but I'm glad her stylist was able to verbalize her frustrations to her and to Hank so they could reconcile those issues. But may do a dive into that episode some time.
I am fully aware King of the Hill is a satire. But you can't just say "it's a satire" as an excuse when the episode itself is bad. Satire can be done poorly too and King of the Hill had many seasons before this where their satire was done extremely well. And they were able to do it without plot contrivances and everyone acting dumb .
@@jaxsmith1204 No my friend. A comedy of errors works when everyone is acting realistically. Not disregarding reality to the point of absolute stupidity. No narrative can work when characters act beyond the confines of believability, which is what happened here. Hank allowing someone to be victimized by his dog just to absolve himself of wrongdoing isn't a joke. It's just plain asinine even in this episode's narrative. Perhaps _you_ should take a break from the internet and stop assuming someone's stance when you know nothing of their background. I don't know where you're getting this "us white people" stance, because I'm not even white, I'm Hispanic. Cheers.
15:30 Having grown up in Fort Worth, Texas, I can attest to that area being the most diverse part of Texas. Good review, man. I’ve watched a few of your videos in the past, enjoyed them, and checked back to see if you had more, and, yeah, I watched a few more, and they’re great! I actually saw this episode when it came out, and remember the big thing about it was actually Bernie Mac being in it; most the ads for this episode were pretty much hoping to get views from having Bernie Mac in it, since, if I recall, it was around the time The Bernie Mac show was in full swing (God, I miss that show, and Bernie Mac’s standup). I agree, I think Kahn’s introduction episode handled this topic better, and I feel the ending to it was also better and heartwarming. The audience already knows Hank isn’t a racist, and you’d assume his friends and family KNOW this, and as a writer, myself, I see where you’re coming from - the episode basically does the “everyone is stupid” trick, and comes off as ham-fisted, more then satirical or ironic. I’m a huge fan of KOTH, and yeah, the later seasons kinda… they’re hit or miss… This episode does still have a few good jokes, but, yeah, it really isn’t special, other than your pointed out modern comparison; it bothers me that in this day age, yes, people DO, do these weird, social tests (not like the one shown in the episode) on people to kind of see if they might SOMEHOW have racist ideologies, and it’s really unsettling, like asking people personal questions about social politics that they may not even care about, or be comfortable discussing - especially in places like work. I liked your review, overall, and I get where you’re coming from, man, keep it up! :)
Mocking everyone in a slightly exaggerated way what all Mike Judge originated shows does best, more fun and less preachy than just mocking whoever the authors ideology deem as ''the bad guys'', then you put preaching first and humor second.
My problem with the episode is, It doesn't really fit the King of the Hill universe. After that, the episodes goes back to normal. It's as if it was a public service announcement. You know, forced not organic. That's why it was bad.
I feel like this episode is a prime example of how often people can so easily give in to their inward lust to backstab one another. While simultaneously wanting to look like a saint in the process. Which is insanely disingenuous, and people like that are utterly disgusting for doing so.
Lol this is an awesome video 👍 someone on a Shady Doorags video mentioned another RUclipsr did a video on this episodee, dunno if it was referring to you
If you think this is a wasted plot, you should see Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo. It features the Love Bug's driver being accused of misogyny by a token female race car driver, whose goal is to prove that she doesn't need a man. It was made in the 1970's, so guess what happens.
I LOL at the Rev talking about praying for Hank Hill’s racist heart. Sometimes the word racist or racism is funny when it comes to jokes here and there.
Ooof I feel old. I graduated high school in 2009. Used to have season passes to Six Flags. Can't wait to see your video. Hmu when it's done so I can check it out 😉
Could you cover the episode A Firefighting We Will Go? The guys’ dreams of being firemen go horribly wrong because of their off-clock horseplay at the firehouse (even ending with the firehouse burning down).
Other ideas for episodes to cover for future KotH videos: The Texas Skilsaw Massacre And They Call It Bobby Love (Marie’s antagonist role and behavior in some parts drags down this episode as a whole.) Nancy Boys Keeping Up with Our Joneses Pretty, Pretty Dresses (This episode is particularly bad.) Hanky Panky/High Anxiety (two-part episode because the latter episode picks up where the former left off) Yankee Hankee Sug Night Talking Shop Returning Japanese Tankin’ It to The Streets Death of a Propane Salesman (both parts of this two-part episode) Some of these were mentioned in the best or worst episodes videos, but I would like further analysis done on these episodes.
13:54. I heavily disagree, Consequences and compassion can fight hate. By being overly lenient towards it, prejudiced people and actions can get away scot free while the hate can still exist. And throwing around the term "mob mentality" can go 2 ways within realizing it with other like minded people who pretend they're experts on discussion topics pretaining to race. The episode in discussion was just another poorly made episode and that Hank really needs to keep his dog on a tight leash if she's going to attack trained professionals, trying to do their job.
Thank you for your comment. Though I'm not sure about what I said at the timestamp is contradictory to what you wrote. It sounds like we're on the same page here.
Well tbh people being very sub conscious about what other people think is very realistic. I will agree it was done kinda poorly though. The situation wasnt that realistic but the reactions were. Especially ladyburg an old dog picking up on Hanks subconscious cues. But tbh it wasnt that bothersome for me. Hank is a suburban Democratic European and the show revolves around that perspective. Some akward stuff around race is expected and honestly the episode was kinda funny.
You took a very simplistic view of a very complex subject. After listening to you talk about the three people of color in that episode, i'm not so sure if you should be the one talking passing judgement.

After all, “you don’t need to be a pilot to see a plane crash” Also she was saying that Hank in the past is shown to have racial tolerance, that’s why she brought attention to that
Peggy was a jerk in this episode cause she didn’t take Hank’s side when he needed her
I know what you mean. She turn her back on Hank. And speaking of jerk. The dog trainer is a total jerk.

U know, in the pilot episode where twig boy comes in to investigate Hank, we see Lady Bird bark at twig boy after Hank kicks twig boy out the 2nd time
