    “She hates herself because she’s become Bobby” is the most Homer Simpson thing Hank has ever said

    Hank and Luanne episodes tend to be some of the strongest and most heartfelt ones. Their relationship had a lot of development over the series. In the beginning Luanne was designed to make Hank uncomfortable and she was just his wife's niece. But after the fifth episode when Hank and Luanne bonded after her break up and then moved in with Boomhauer they started developing more of a father\daughter relationship. This episode was another great bonding episode for them.

    Hank was often overly hostile towards Luanne in the early seasons. In one episode he said Luanne wasn't family. That was after Luanne told him he was like a father to her. He does everything he can to kick her out even though she hasn't done anything wrong. So of course he wouldn't care that Luanne moved out. As for charging her rent to live with them, he never discussed it with Peggy. While I agree that Hank wanting Luanne to pay rent isn't unreasonable, he should have talked it over with Peggy first. He crossed a line by going behind her back. Peggy even calls him out on it. Luanne is like a daughter to Peggy. She will do anything for her. To Hank, Luanne is just an annoying houseguest.

    • @HarveyMcCloud
      @HarveyMcCloud  Год назад +3

      That's not true. Hank comes around to letting Luanne know she's welcome, like when Luanne was about to leave and Hank had all of her stuff set up in her room as if she never left (Luanne's Saga). Or when her trailer got tipped over again, he said it looks like you can't live there, even though he previously said a tipped over trailer is fixable (Texas City Twister). And again, all of this is in the earlier seasons when Luanne didn't really have another place to go, and Hank made her feel welcome in his own Hank Hill way.
      As far as asking Peggy first, yeah that would've been a nice courtesy. But I think Hank should have the final say. It's his home after all and it's his space that is being invaded, and it's not fair for one to be uncomfortable in their own home if they feel the person in question should pay their way. I wouldn't even say it's crossing the line. As Hank so artfully put it, he exploited a loophole. And I don't think Hank looks at Luanne as an annoying houseguest. He doesn't treat her like a guest at all. He subjects her to all of the house rules like she's one of the family.

      @@HarveyMcCloudYou make some pretty good points. While Hank was more often than not a jerk towards Luanne in the early days, he still did do good things for her.
      I disagree with not including Peggy when deciding to charge rent. Charging Luanne rent is a big decision. Peggy owns the house too so she should have been brought in before making that decision. It shouldn't be just a courtesy nor should it be his decision alone. He also acted way too eager to get rid of Luanne. Peggy has every right to be mad at him for going behind her back and acting too eager to be rid of Luanne.

    • @HarveyMcCloud
      @HarveyMcCloud  Год назад +1

      @@joetophat2121 Again, that's not true at all. Hank, even in the earlier seasons, is not often a jerk to Luanne. Much of it has to do with the fact that he doesn't know how to handle emotion, and Luanne is an emotional person. If Hank is such a jerk, he wouldn't have spent so much time with her after her boyfriend dumped her. He hoped they would move out and get an apartment, but even when Buckley comes back, he told him to get lost because she knows he's not good for her. As far as saying he loved Luanne and Bobby less in the tornado episode, Hank was telling her he loves Peggy more than anyone else in the world. So of course Hank has to Hank it up and throw in he loves his son and niece to a lesser extent, because 1, Hank's always been weird about saying "I love you" to Bobby, and 2, Luanne isn't even a blood relative.
      As far as the rent goes, I never said Peggy had no right to be upset. She clearly was, but Luanne was living there for free for years at that point. There's no reason for Hank to have to consult Peggy on everything when he occupies the space too. And way too eager to get rid of Luanne: yes, that was addressed in the episode that Hank wanted his own room. Either Luanne was going to move out to free up his den, or Hank was going to have a rental house to himself. Hank wanting his own space doesn't mean he can't stand Luanne and wants her gone. The two desires can be mutually exclusive. And as I mentioned in the video, Hank never rubbed it in her face that she couldn't take care of herself. He even said "it's nice seeing her, knowing she's going to go home."

    I find it funny Boomhauer chose the nickname B-Dawg. I find it funny because it's the same nickname my mom gave her old boxer, Bruno. And in a later episode, Boomhauer calls Bobby by the nickname Little B, which my mom named Bruno's son. My mom gave her dogs names that Boomhauer used without even knowing it. Cute 😂

    So I think Luanne rejecting the food wasn't a 'charity case' thing, but more of her being a burden or a mooch. A lot of the stress between them came from her taking his den, utilities, and (implied) food. It's not a crawling back thing, she doesn't want to be seen as taking more from Hank even though she's out.

    The worst thing I could think that Luanne probably did was probably underage drinking, having coitus with a few idjits in his house, and taking Bobby to Crazy Judy Halloween episode you're right she's not bad

    I think the reason the other roommates acted like total freeloaders is because they weren’t paying the bills like Luanne was, it is a big responsibility after all. At the end of the episode she gave them the push they needed to start paying their own bills and buying their own food.
