Bud E You do know there's no such thing as a literal translation, right? English is a particularly flexible language. In Texas, こんにちわ means howdy. 😉 (The best known example of this is probably John 21:15-17 in which, according to English versions, Jesus asks Peter the same exact question three times. ("Do you love Me?") This has confused some English readers, but in the original Greek text Jesus asks three unique questions.) But thank you for correcting the romaji.
I was mainly correcting the Romaji. I used to make that mistake all the time for that word, so it was near and dear to me. :-) I agree translations are flexible, I just added that as an alternate for the reader's benefit. I did not mean to insult you.
So many people misunderstood the childrens action... Japanese kids keep touching the hair of the baby, thats not because they are curious about the hair color but that is the way Japanese cherish little kids. Patting a head gently while saying "yoshiyoshi(good good)" is the typical japanese way of cherishing, or cheering up little kids.
