    I'm always impressed by your intelligence, kindness, and careful nature. You're the best person since Boling/Sando to cover this team in a way that dresses difficult questions into the guise of non-threatening ones. Kudos, Brian.

    Said it before and will say it again - One of your superpowers covering the Seahawks is your ability to read people, what they say, and how they say it. Can’t wait for the off-season content 🙌

    Grubb was figured out pretty early in the season and didn’t adjust. Definitely a compatibility issue.

    Thank you for acknowledging that it is a sad day. Grubb was not a bad OC, he was a mismatch and probably a John choice not a Mike choice. I will miss him and wish him well. Still don't know what that damn energy drink was that he always had up there and now I never will.

    Very glad that they made this move, and didn't wait for Grubb to figure things out. Pete Carroll was WAY to lenient on under performing coaches like Ken Norton, etc.

    Thank you Brian for your intuition. explaining much many felt..Grubb needed to adjust w each game, like MM’s philosophy n his defense..they had a different physiological mindset. Thanks, for your kind, thoughtful reporting, appreciate you!

    My home country’s rugby team went through the same process. You have a great head coach and assistant head coach in their own rights, had a compatibility issue early on. The assistant coach removed himself from the team because of philosophical reasons. Like it was plain and simple. They didn’t try to save face, they didn’t beat around the bush, just straight to the point. And that takes character and leaving your ego to see a team get better. That’s how it should be. If you’re not on the same page, it shows. This is why I like this decision. MM and JS obviously have a plan and are decisive and know what they want and if you’re not onboard… it’s not going to work. Irrespective if RG is a good coach or not. Let’s hope they find the coach they need!

    This was an obvious need half way through this season as I posted quite a few times since. Glad they cut their losses early instead of doubling down on them like they did with Waldron. This shows JS is willing to operate differently than with Pete. Maybe this is a ray of sunlight shining on a new process moving forward---one that isn't willing to play the hopium game and instead one that keeps the tip of the spear sharp by playing the best probabilities and adjusting quickly when the odds shift. This is good news. I hope Grubb finds a fit that maximizes his potential. Staying with Seahawks into next year is certainly not that . . . . .

    I think most miss the point about how the run and pass game has to be complimentary. If the pass game is schemed off the run then the defense can't respond as quickly and properly and the same vice versa. For example if the TE run blocks then releases for a reception he is more likely to be open. This what the best offenses do.

    • @tadwiltman4875
      @tadwiltman4875 17 дней назад +2

      Exactly! The good offenses have 30 plays that look like one, and one play that can look 30 different ways

    I swear Mike Macdonald either reads our comments and listen to these shows,or he’s just that in tune with what us Hawks fan want to see. It’s uncanny man the way Mike is alined with our thinking sometimes.

    Feels like Grubb lost his job at the Jets game. 8 failed attempts total with 5 passes from the 1. Overall, it felt like he didn't feel confident with the players on offense which likely affected his play calling.

    Getting rid of Grubb was the first step for a successful off-season. The next step is to find a young Quarterback to eventually take over for Geno. They have never spoken about Sam Howell being a potential starter Step three is to find a way to fix the holes in the roster. JS has already said that they aren't going to spend much money to fix the offensive line issues. Looks like this is still going to he a flawed team next season, but hopefully, they get closer to elite status in a few years.

    Arthur Smith was the guy and Grubb was an option; it didn’t work and they move on…
    I live in the south and talks of Deboer having a spot for Grubb on his staff have been talked about since Bama got eliminated. I agree, I don’t think there was any guarantee Grubb would’ve wanted to stay anyways

    If you’re saying that Coach Mike was never willing to hand the offensive keys over to Grubb, implying that the other coaches with all of this nfl experience were supporting Grubb, then why is Grubb getting fired?

  • @Nomorepain57

    This was a no brainer. Had to happen. I would have been less excited about next season. If it's not working, dont double down. Move on.
    Glad Mike is much more willing to move on from low performers instead of giving them years to figure it out like Pete would. Admittedly that worked sometimes, but not usually.

    I think it’s not appropriate to suggests Petez may have bad talked Grubb to MM without a source
    Realize you made it clear it was speculation but feels like it crosses line when you raise something underhanded without any hard or circumstantial evidence

    • @hawkblogger
      @hawkblogger  16 дней назад

      Sorry you felt it crossed a line. I think it is naive to assume Grubb felt fully supported by people he had no prior relationship with. It’s also common in any workplace for people to try and move up in the org and position themselves. I made it clear I was not saying Peetz did it, but we do know Peetz wants to be an OC, so it was the most logical example.

    Mike needs someone he can count on to call his offense for him. Because while Mike has made improvements on the defense, it is obvious he is still no match for the Rams. Seahawks couldnt stop a second string Rams and let them keep the game close.

    I hated the hire at the time. Nothing more annoying than UW fans hyping up a college playcaller. Peetz isn't in contention for OC, so that aged poorly.

  • @ewwee2k
    @ewwee2k 16 дней назад

    Grubb was a terrible hire. Nothing personal against him. But hiring an OC without any NFL experience to work for someone without HC experience, is foolhardy at best or just dumb. Another boneheaded decision by Little Finger Schneider. Good Grief!

    What it sounds to me is that he purposely screwed grubb over. If macdonald was 100 percent trusting grubb he maybe been more successful. So it's all on Macdonald and the offense sucked because of peetz. All I'm going to say you get what you wish for
