I always though her reaction to Charles was her saying "Why would Lelouche hate his father? The Charles I know isn't his enemy." But when she sees the Charles on the TV, and realizes that this was how Lelouche saw his father, she realizes "Oh. So this is the Charles that Lelouche is fighting against."
The true sadness of Milly love is that she probably knew from young age, that any relationship between her and Lelouch wouldn’t have been possible as Ashford long history with Marianne was too high of chance of being exposed.
Love interest part: If memory serves right Kaguya wanted to marry Lelouch as a child as well, she met him in her youth as she is Suzaku's cousin. For Euphemia you have to keep in mind they are only half siblings and noble and royal families had a thing for relative marriages so half siblings wouldn't be that far fetched for them. Milly was probably an arranged marriage partner considering her family was supporting Lelouch and Nunnally mother, so they sheltered him in the chance he might get back into the royal family and thus secure their position.
I didn’t see a problem with the way C.C. noted Charles as Lelouch’s enemy. She’s always had that indifference about her even when she had been working or assisting Charles, Marianne and V.V. with their plan. In my mind, when she said those words, it sounded as if she was going “Oh, so this is Lelouch’s enemy. Someone I know and used to work with, and his father. Small world, huh. I wonder if Lelouch truly knows the full story.” Or something like that.
Milly in fact was already betrothed to Lelouch. They were supposed to get married, but because everyone hated Marianne they destroyed her backers - the Ashford Family - upon her apparent demise. All they have left is the Ganymede and this school that Milly mysteriously keeps delaying her graduation from. I wonder if theres a boy involved??
I don't know if this is common knowledge or overlooked, but I like the detail in the langauges on screens in the show. All Britanian screens display english, while all used by the Japanese Resistence forces display Japanese. The Chinese Federation displayed Chinese. It is especially interesting when you think on it, the standard tactic for forcefully assimilating another people is to destroy their culture, with one of the first targets being language. Without a doubt the Britanians forced every Japanese to learn english during the assimilation process. But like in real life people who were assimilated by force and managed to hide, and form their own resistances, held onto their language. Likely going as far as changing the language in captured Knightmares from English to Japanese.
isnt nunnally also tied with 4 kind of? lelouch, charles, mao when he kidnapped her, and maybe rolo when he was abducting nunnally before the warhead exploded
I think he also needed the new costume since Suzaku shot his only mask in half, so he made a new one, and later mass produced them for the iceberg. My favorite Zero suit is Dog Zero
Oh yeah, that's a good point Suzaku did destroy the helmet. I forgot to mention that thanks for the reminder. But in fairness he could have made the mask exactly the same as it was before
#2: The marriage thing I maybe remembering this wrong, but the band-aid didn't signify a wedding ring. It was a show to C.C. that he is one of the people who cared about her, because as a slave she rarely saw people caring about her. And that's what made her happy. In the second scene when she tells about putting a band-aid, that showed how naive the new C.C. is, as she doesn't know much about human anatomy or what emotional pain actually is, again because she only remembered being a slave.
I thought she expressed what emotional pain was to Lelouch in Turn 16 when she said pain on the outside feels better than pain on the inside. The reason why I came to this conclusion is not just that C.C. smiled but she held out her hand like a woman would if it were a wedding ring.
#17 is C.C commenting on the audience response to Charles not Charles himself Lelouch goal is to destroy Britannia. Killing the King only replaces him with the next ruler. Seeing the Zealotry response to Charles speech is what keeps Britannia alive and well. That's what I get from that scene even without knowing that she knows Charles in the past.
Honestly the people C.c used her geass on during her backstory probably were under the effects the longest since no one could have removed it and it would last until the end of their lifetime
I would say Nunnally was under the geass longer as when Marianne when into Cs worlds Anya was released from the geass then and what Jeremiah did was restore the memories of when Marianne was controling her@@MyMediaChops
I always took the "I would have ended my life back in the ghetto" as being a "I wouldn't give up, and I'd die as a result of my own actions back then." rather than suicidal thoughts.
The problem with this is the verbiage "ended my life". Usually, this phrase refers to suicide because it's an active verb. Since the person is choosing this fate. But in Kallen's case she wasn't going to end her life the soldiers were going to kill her. If she said "would have died" or "without you, fighting with the resistance group would've been a death sentence" then you might have a point. Even if that's what was intended it's an unusual way to word it. And the English sub clearly doesn't say that. So I have to wonder why the English dub director didn't just use the same word. It's needlessly vague.
@MyMediaChops I agree it's needlessly vague and probably did mean suicide. But since she never struck me as the suicidal type, it completely flew over my mind, and I suppose in a vain attempt to make sense of the strange wording I made it more about self-sacrifice. The C.C. not being there during the ceasefire call also flee over my head despite my rewatching it constantly and saying "hey it's the guys Lelouch killed when it got his power." Hoping for a part 3 🙏
@@MyMediaChops At first before the Japanese played, I was considering possibly she was referring to becoming a refrain junkie, but not sure if the refrain warehouse was in Shinjuku. It is indeed a mistranslation though, in the Japanese the subject of the sentence was "Watashi-tachi" 'we', so she actually said "If you weren't there, WE would have died in the Shinjuku Ghetto."
Thank you for uploading this! I love Code Geass so much! Lelouch is my favourite character! And so is CC, as well as Kallen, Cornelia, Jeremiah, Nunnally, Shirley, Rivalz, Ohgi, Tamaki, Villetta, Milly, Lloyd, Suzaku, Cecile, Schneizel and Euphemia!
I always saw the scene of "So this is Lelouch's ennemy" as something completely normal due to how she talks all the time and it's not like she said she didnt knew Charles.
I remember that in the episode where they chased Arthur around the school and that one girl came out of the closet, another girl responded with disgust. I watched Code Geass in German so I don't know how it was in the sub but in the ger dub she responded more surprised rather than disgusted
C.C.: I thought you formed the Black Knights to combat Britannia? Lelouch: Oh, no. Thin mints was the reason. C.C.: What? Lelouch: Well you see ever since they joined the student council, Kallen and Suzaku have been eating my goddamn thin mints! The Black Knights were an elegant way to get them both out of the council room without them being none the wiser.
18:35 I always thought this scene referred to C2's realization that Lelouch's enemy wasn't actually the emperor as a person (though his hatred for his father is clear) so much as it was an acknowledgement of the idea - the desired world - for which the emperor represented. Perhaps even realizing that Lelouch's enemy would also be the shared idea by his mother...
Yo I don't know if you get this a lot but your videos are so entertaining dude. Watched code geass a year or two ago and your videos help me understand the show so much better, especially about lelouch and cc. Thanks my guy
i think kallens line of "i wouldve ended my life" is more a grammar issue than an actual story issue. thinking about within the context of kallens character, she probably means something closer to "my commitment to the cause would've gotten me killed if you hadn't called for a ceasefire" like what she says in japanese
Random observation, but the two people above Jeremiah on the aptly named 'Dead List' share their surnames with two British serial killers. Harold Christie appears to refer to John Christie, 'The Monster of Rillington Place'. Andrey Shipman appears to refer to Harold Shipman, the most prolific serial killer in British history.
Damn, i didnt even know Dalton had 5 sons. I didnt know Guilford became s father figure to them either! Now i want more content of all 7 of them, specifically Guilford and the 5 sons.
Here's one most people miss. C.C.'s original name is actually stated once and is extremely easy to miss. I didn't hear it till the second time watching the show. When C.C. is explaining the terms of the contract being her dying, there's a flashback to when she had geass power. She got it from a nun who calls C.C. Joan (or Jean not sure how it's spelled since I don't know where she's from). So now we and Lelouch are the only ones who know C.C.'s true name.
Funny how it never mentions that Suzaku and Lelouch shared a kiss in one of CD-dramas that was never animated xDD (scene with a pocky-game hehehe live with it >:3)
Regarding no.16, I think the most racist person in the show was Commander Kinoshita. He was the commander of the Honorary Britainnia squad that was dispatched into the Shinjuku ghetto to retrieve C.C. in the first episode. He is utterly awful to his soldiers and the Elevens, calling them monkeys. Him also being Japanese just shows how badly he's accepted Charles' dogma for him to be a self-fating racist.
Err.... Kinoshita was a member of BK's Zero Squad who started the whole downward spiral that would see the BK betray Zero. The overall commander seen directing Sazaku's squad is actually the unnamed Royal Guard Commander who is later killed by Lelouch's Geass.
CC lying to the audience can be interpreted a different way and I think it fits way better. Even if she hadn't known Charles. Anyways saying "So this is Lelouch's enemy" may not refer specifically to Charles but rather to his ideals. CC knew of Charles, she was with Marianne and Marianne married Charles, but that doesn't mean she knew a lot about him or how he thought. This broadcast was him showing the worst of himself and his nation. I think that's what CC was referencing, Not just Charles, but Brittania, and In-Equality, and everything that Speech spew forth.
Here is the much-anticipated part 2 of Code Geass facts you missed. The video was in production hell as I had completed it weeks before but then the file got corrupted forcing me to start from scratch. Anyway, let me know your thoughts on the facts and feedback on the video itself. Also for one of the facts, I forgot to mention Akito or Oldrin who were both under Geass for a long time. Good to see you didn't forget @mymediachops about the wedding ring when I told you on Facebook text and yes this is the same who told you about that so I'm glad you mention it
21:45 I always thought Collan was saying that she would have fought to the death in Shinjuku, and that Lelouch was able to turn the tables and change the outcome.
"KAGUYA'S BIRTHDAY IS AUGUST 10, 2003!" Brittania invade Japan on August 10, 2010 Hhhhmmm! My birthday is August 10th! No wonder i love this anime. Coincidence......OR IS IT!?
The irony of Edgar N. Darlton lamenting David T. Darlton is that both of them, in the English Dub, are both voiced by the same person, Bryce Papenbrook. For those wondering what I am talking about. In Japan, the Glaston Knights are voiced by FIVE different actors; yet in the English Dub, there are only FOUR actors voicing the Glaston Knights. With Bryce Papenbrook voicing both David T. Darlton and Edgar N. Darlton. Nothing too big, just figured I would mention this one.
Since Marianne and the Ashford family had very good ties (as evidenced by the Ashford family being disgraced after her death), so maybe if she didn't die, Lelouch would have been married to Milly as they are family friends and Britannia is full of Pureblood ideological people.
After re-watching about 9 times now, I've noticed all these. Did you notice the changes in music they made between the sub and dub? Completely changes the tones of scenes, and the Dub is actually SUPERIOR.
for #16 I think it's personally the royal guard general guy at the start of season 1 episode 1 he calls them all monkeys and even said "the stench of these monkeys should make it easier for you to spot them" something along those lines if he didn't die he definitely would have been had more scenes of him being the biggest racist
I still hate Nina and consider her one of the worst characters, but I never saw her behaviour as her feeling superior to Elevens. I always though she was scared of them, maybe she had a traumatic past and that is why she acted like that. Also, yeah, I agree that Code Geass has an amazing english dub, alongside Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which is my absolute favorite Anime of all times. However, people need to stop being so anti-english dub in general. Sure occationally we might run into a bad dub, it happens, but there are so many out there that has an amazing dub that people don't realizes because they aren't willing to give them a chance.
Am I the only one that actually kind of likes Nina as a character? I mean, sure, her crush on Euphy was depicted as perhaps the most cringey way possible, but after that, I'd say there's a genuinely interesting character arc. On a side note, I read the whole "So this is Lelouch's enemy" line as serving two purposes. Without context, it comes across as you're reading it...but with context I read it more as her saying to herself "Oh, so this is his enemy, this is going to be interesting..."
I one thing I missed was if C.C. walked way from Charles, Mariane, the Geass Order and Britannia as a whole, how did she end up in the truck in episode 1?
With #16. That's a surprise with Alicia. I have been watching Roze of the Recapture. Nina has grown. She doesn't seem to be annoying as she was in the first 2 seasons.
Excellent use of Keith David and Husker. Also, let's be honest. Nina does suck but, she at least has some redeeming qualities and most of her hatred is understandable in that Zero killed her best friend. She didn't so much want that Japanese wiped out, more she just hated Zero that much. Plus, she did put her hatred aside in the end to give Lelouch the means to stop a Flaya in order to atone for creating such a horrifying weapon. Alicia really has no redeeming qualities. Just the worst.
What would happen if Jeremiah used his Geass cancel on lelouch now, or even C2? And what happened to the girl that lelouch used his gears on to make her carve crosses on to the brick wall everyday? I can't remember.
Some bits of the side lore mentioned that after Season One, much of the rescued Ashford Academy students where returned to the Britannian Homeland and that partiuclar girl ended up in an insane asylum or something like that due to that Geass pretty much breaking her pyche. Or something to that effect anyways.
Carve chan is free of the geass. It showed in season 2 how she abruptly stopped making the markings on the wall when the camera panned over to the markings she made. Instead of a "+" there was only a "-" which means she was freed of it moments before she finished carving.
Not true because Milly said all the parents pulled their students out of the school following the Black Rebellion. So Carve chan like many others went back to the homeland.
For the Eng Dub voice acting part, I thought Charles' S1 all men are not created equal speech, in the part "some with greater beauty, some are born into poverty......and others born sick and feeble" would be included because he made a slight awkward pause there, i guess to read the lines again
Didn't the unfinished carving on the wall meant that carve-chan was freed from the geass's effect? (Don't remember exaclty witch turn but somwhere at the end of r1 or beginning of r2)
Most of the students left Ashford Academy after R1. That's why the carvings were no longer present on the wall. Suzaku or Lelouch mentioned that everyone looked different and Milly explained what I mentioned earlier about people leaving.
Technically #20 can be understood both ways in English. I have always understood that she meant that she would have died, but never that she was suicidal. I would have ended my life in the ghetto. My life would have ended in the ghetto. I would have died in the ghetto. All three are valid based on the individuals inclination, with the first being the most refined way of speaking. The word selection actually makes sense in English as she is of the upper classes on her father's side, and so her grammar would be inclined to be more elegant in such a formal moment. As a lover of classic literature, including the Bard qnd the King James Bible, this phraseology would not have been out of place among the elite of such a culture.
Eh, actually, for the Kallen 'suicidal' line, we could always argue that what she meant is that she would rather die than give the genocidal britannians that attacked the ghetto the satisfaction of killing her, and since she wouldn't have been able to flee, she would have killed herself instead of being killed by them. It's a stretch, but it would be understandable. Also, maybe her tongue just flipped and no one noticed. "I would have ended my life" and "My life would have ended" are not that different, in the heat of the moment, everyone can have its tongue twisting!
Just finished the show last week, what a disappointment, season 1 was fine, but during season 2, most characters became plot devices with no character anchors, all for a bad plot too. Everything feels rushed, and the ending is not expressed properly to reflect the power transition on the world stage. And the movies are even worse, Kallen never got a closure and we just presume time skipped and everybody now gone but CC and LL. I honestly regret watching the show, such a waste of potential and my time.
The kallin mistranslation is easily excusable if the teanslatir wasnt a native English speaker because "my life would have ended in..." looks alot like "i would have ended my life in...." without the cultural understanding we have to the second one mea ing suici
I do not think she genuinely thought it was a wedding ring because she is going back mentally to when she's a child she's very likely just playing pretend like a child in the book I am legitimately seeing children with a band aid on that finger pretending it's a wedding ring as just a little bit of Make believe
I think your second Topic is a Bit of a stretch man lol I get you line of logic but your reaching It's more acurate to say she admired the gesture Being a slave in mind she wasn't accustom to people Caring about her well Being. I will admit the Pose she takes up is suggestive has it's exactly the same pose wemon do with an actual ring. But theres just as much reason to assume it had to do with the gesture. and not that she thought it was a proposal.
Dude, you're the only other person I know of who still loves Code Geass this much. Thanks for still making videos on it.

"KAGUYA'S BIRTHDAY IS AUGUST 10, 2003!"
Brittania invade Japan on August 10, 2010
Hhhhmmm! My birthday is August 10th!
No wonder i love this anime. Coincidence......OR IS IT!?
18:56 I always thought she was talking to Marion after re-watching the series
The irony of Edgar N. Darlton lamenting David T. Darlton is that both of them, in the English Dub, are both voiced by the same person, Bryce Papenbrook.
For those wondering what I am talking about.
In Japan, the Glaston Knights are voiced by FIVE different actors; yet in the English Dub, there are only FOUR actors voicing the Glaston Knights. With Bryce Papenbrook voicing both David T. Darlton and Edgar N. Darlton.
Nothing too big, just figured I would mention this one.
12:04 what would actually happen in terms of Milly and Lelouch's relationship if Marianne didn't die?
Since Marianne and the Ashford family had very good ties (as evidenced by the Ashford family being disgraced after her death), so maybe if she didn't die, Lelouch would have been married to Milly as they are family friends and Britannia is full of Pureblood ideological people.
After re-watching about 9 times now, I've noticed all these. Did you notice the changes in music they made between the sub and dub? Completely changes the tones of scenes, and the Dub is actually SUPERIOR.
i would like a video about the myths of code geass i'm sure theres plenty of them out there
(2)
I think in #17 C.C was referring to the chanting fanatics and blind loyalty they show that she might not be as familiar with.
for #16 I think it's personally the royal guard general guy at the start of season 1 episode 1 he calls them all monkeys and even said "the stench of these monkeys should make it easier for you to spot them" something along those lines if he didn't die he definitely would have been had more scenes of him being the biggest racist
Clannad also had a bad dub. The way Nagisa's name is mispronounced makes me cringe.
Tbf C.C. could be surprised that it was the classic story of the son killing the father
How did Nunnally survive the Freja ?? that question is always in my head, when i rewatch Code Geass
I covered it on this channel if you are interested
Im a simple man, I see a MediaChops video, I smash the like button.
I one thing I missed was if C.C. walked way from Charles, Mariane, the Geass Order and Britannia as a whole, how did she end up in the truck in episode 1?
Because Clovis found out about her immortality and wanted to gift her to Charles.
the pizza hut integration continues to amase
Now i need to rewatch again the 2 seasons
With #16. That's a surprise with Alicia. I have been watching Roze of the Recapture. Nina has grown. She doesn't seem to be annoying as she was in the first 2 seasons.
Her character growth is one of the strongest in the series
Kaguya showing up also makes Zero loose the Black Rebellion. She specifically says she's the god of victory if irrc, ironic really lol
I never realized Zero's costume ever changed
Same, here. I always thought it remained the same throughout the series.
Dang, nvr knew these hidden references and fioreshadowing and extra lore was on the show! edit: plz make a part 3!
That was my favorite part when making the video
20:32 not inckuding yu yu kahusho is a crime
Here comes a bigger crime I have never seen Yu Yu Hakusho
20:41 Bro's worst role.... 😂😂😂😂😂
I rewatched this many times only few surprised me like the punch and pizza sponsorship.
7:43 i hate to say it but... idgaf who those guys were. lol i only barely knew of that Dalton guy
clicked for the thumbnail. please someonel lemme know wheres that part
Did not notice any of this after watching it 5th time
Some of the stuff I didn't notice until the 3rd or fourth viewing of the series
What's the episode where Cecile says "Self-Centered Brat" in?
Turn 18 right before Suzaku fires the FLEIJA warhead
What is Lelouch's wreck burai count or how many knightmare did tamaki wreck
Can you do a summary of the oz of reflection 1&2
I love Code Geass
Was it not V2 that gave Charls (the emporer of britania) the geas, not C2!
Nr 17 to referance
In Season 2 Episode22 Corneilia Gets shot in the back And collapsed like marriane.
Why you asking bro just make as many parts as you can I will watch all of em
I'm at soup!
Number 5 isn’t a lie. No one knows for a fact how tall they will grow over time or at all. If anything, I’d say it’s wishful thinking.
I just finished Resurrection, what do I watch next, does anyone here know?
Roze of the Recapture
I always did ship Lelouch and Miley
code geass video in 2023 ? hmmm
Where can I read Oz the Reflection manga ?
Mangafire and mangadex
Eh, actually, for the Kallen 'suicidal' line, we could always argue that what she meant is that she would rather die than give the genocidal britannians that attacked the ghetto the satisfaction of killing her, and since she wouldn't have been able to flee, she would have killed herself instead of being killed by them. It's a stretch, but it would be understandable. Also, maybe her tongue just flipped and no one noticed. "I would have ended my life" and "My life would have ended" are not that different, in the heat of the moment, everyone can have its tongue twisting!
PART 3
is the Carve-Tan thing a joke? Because Carve-Tan be dead.
Poor Kaguya
12:10 Lloyd is gay. It's been confirmed but yeah I guess your wife has to do want them together.
Milly... and Kullen are the best ships..... by far not Including the obvious.. C2 which I don't hate but Kullen and Milly.... 👅😏🗿
It pisses me off the dub is so good because I love the sub va for Lelouche but I always watch dub instead
pizza hut!
A kill count would be awesome.
Ppl watch anything to make others money. Sad
based and red pill
oh.
First
Is this YT's new UI? It's very dogshit, to say the least
