I have to say that my favorite episodes are the ones where Milly (millie?) is in her happy place too. Exploring, hiking, diving are all fun and you guys do an awesome job of entertaining us masses with just about any story, but Milly is a character in the show too! And its just so cool to see her jogging along in all her cutter-rigged glory. Thank you!
Kudos on using the jacklines. I noticed (@ 7:48ish while having winch envy) the jib lead is a bit off. Same on my boat (but we have different cut/size headsails) which the previous owner solved by putting a 11"/280 mm strop or extension line onto the genoa sheet block. The winch loads much better with it. Lovely sail. Hard to not let Millie romp along when she wants to. Remember the difference between a bad haircut and a decent one is about 10 days.
Nice vid guys, not a criticism but an observation, Kiara goes forward to help with the sail hoisting lovely, she does a great job, and she is wearing the appropriate life preserver, later Adam goes forward to help lower said sail, and sadly NO appropriate life preserver, naughty bad Adam, All the best guys, Al
Being lazy is one of the main objectives on our boat because convincing our teenaged crew members to do anything hard is almost impossible. But, the more you change things to be 'lazy' the easier the whole boat is to operate which means your more likely to do the necessary things early: reefing early, pulling the dinghy instead of towing it, locking the boat before leaving, changing headsails, whatever. Easy things get done. Hard things get left to later, which usually leads to trouble
Great idea for the dinghy lifting...however we don't even have a manual windlass, but I purchased a winch adapter for a battery drill (you need a hefty drill) which makes life a lot easier...most of the time...
I like your dinghy arrangement. My dinghy weighs only 100 lbs (45 kg) says the catalog listing. When I arrived to sail my boat south, the dinghy was 'magically' lashed to the fore deck upside down .... So far I've barely even looked at it. So this is one of those puzzles that isn't very difficult, except for the first time you do it. I have a power winch, but it's back in the cockpit and I'm mostly solo. So I thought a pair of double pulleys 4:1 mechanical advantage. They don't even have to be that heavy duty. Of course just hoist them up on the spinnaker halyard, as you've done. My mind was doing something complicated with the spinnaker pole. The top double block has to have a becket and the lower one a jam cleat. I'll attach this with lots of line, to the halyard and raise the top block up 4-5 meters. This should be a lot quicker and easier than using a winch or the windlass. Basically I just have to lean on the line 25 lbs or 11 kg of my body weight to lift the dinghy up. We shall see.
Good show. 👍 same winch process works for going up the mast extend the main halyard if necessary take a turn on main halyard winch to the anchor windlass and up u go.
Make life even easier for yourselves by shortening the tenders bow strop and then you will lift the tender with water draining out of tge stern. When there is water in the tender pull tge bung out as you step out to lift and as soon as you start to lift it starts draining..... life easier !
Yes, I have a full keel yacht and I must say that I am continually amazed at how much sail I can reduce and still get good speeds. Something to do with lift and drag I suspect. Anyhow makes for a much nicer sail. Less heeling and a better motion. I f anyone knows about this let me know.
Why on earth didn't you stop at and *explore Dominica?* I worked there for 4 months and though I've visited and worked in over 25 countries, Dominica is and will be my absolute favorite. Didn't you pass the northern tip at 8 pm and the reasonable good anchorage at Portsmouth?
As a long-time lazy draftsman, I always say, "work smarter, not harder". And yeah, you could have used a drawing to explain your dingy thingy lifting rig. Very nice haircut. Employable quality.
Good to know that redhead has the fire inside too. I was ships engineer but people found out I could cut hair & not screw it up. I hated to do it so raised my price x 10 of anyone else. Still people paid for a good haircut. Pretty sure I cut the redhead Sweet Kate for free, but just cut the ends.
Some ladies do not weather well in the tropics. Gorgeous Khiara is looking better each episode. But it's a fine line with fare skin. Don't forget your sun block.
Release the gypsy when using the ropedrum!!! What will happen with a Lofrans is that the clutch is getting tighter and tighter until you need a bloody big pipe and hammer to release the clutch. Ask me how I know… 🥴
Why not just put the spinnaker halyard straight on to the rope drum of the windlass? We hoist our dinghy up the side of the boat for security every night on the spinnaker halyard.
14:00 I am confused - you want to go slower, so you hoist the stays'l? And then you didn't drop the jib? I was expecting to see the jib get stowed, and perhaps another reef in the main to reduce total driving force. Can you please explain the reasoning to a landlubber? Thanks in advance~ EDIT: After finishing the video, I understand what you did to accommodate Millie's desire to hit Warp 7, but I would still like to know if further shortening sail would have achieved the desired low speed. Thanks~
when mille romps she romps . Dinghy easy load is excellent. Adam their are no bad hair cuts they all grow out, Iain and Andy maybe just just a bit slower.
Using the windlass to haul the dingy…brilliant!
Beautiful sail. Smart work with the dingy.

You guys are raising the price of CC Tayana 42’s on the market every time you make a lovely video like this…..😂😂😂😂😂
Love the way you just keep it real. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid.
Hey - I know that boat at the 18:55 mark. Black masted schooner. Saw it round the Bahamas a few times a couple years back. Small world.

Fabulous sailing guys …really interesting about the dinghy haul …
Lovely sail! I love to see Milly shine! And soooo glad you are safely south of Fiona. Whew!
Work smarter not harder, love the dinghy rig! 👍

Enjoy watching while sailing ⛵️ sailboat south to next location ! Good way load dinghy onto sailboat! 😘⛵️😀 Mike from Missouri

Check those granny bars- that port one looks loose!

I always try to do an early reefing. There's nothing better than watching the sunrise while drinking coffee and doing some reef.
Milly sure hit her sweet spot! What a beautiful sail.

Another great video. I'm not a sailor but really enjoy and look forward to them. Thanks
I could not stop looking at the beautiful mountains in the background!

Good job on the music, it felt different this time (different good, not different bad)!
Thanks for the great idea on raising the dinghy. I'm anxious to try something similar, but alas I don't have a powered windlass!
Recommence the day in the afternoon ??
wow what a twist....sailing all nite does to you. still envious.
Another great one! Thank you as always! 😎👍
I love how much YOU love sailing- awesome. Beautiful video!!!🎉
Thanks guys. Awesome as always. 👍🏼💯🎉
Amazing guys!! Hope to see you out there soon!!
Very nice, Beautiful..😎👍✅

And I will definitely look at this solution for my dinghy, nearly lost the davits, solar and outboard to the Atlantic
We’re Spoiled. Thanks to all of you, including the wales and the sunset and fair winds and ocean.

Can I ask you both to share your thoughts your canoe stern...pros & cons
If you have your choice of sterns...?
Keep an eye out to the east, big storm potential heading your way!
And yes on the loose granny bars
Work SMARTER not harder! I love your dingy lifting. Very good use of the windlass.
Nice SAILING too!
So... when are you going to the Pacific?
The granny bar looks pretty loose!!
Envy...

The smallest white caps start to appear at 13 kts
Thank you for your exceptional positive attitude. You always brighten your day.
Can you take the dinghy lift idea and apply it to the bosuns chair
What course will you look at for your sail down under to arrive in Australia for christmas
Some ladies do not weather well in the tropics. Gorgeous Khiara is looking better each episode. But it's a fine line with fare skin. Don't forget your sun block.
now that you've had and used your precision sails for a good bit, what is your opinion of them?
My Tayana 55 might be slow .
@13:10 Hey, are you using a via ferrata lanyard? 😆

how are things going with the alternator??
♥️♥️🥰🥰
Do you have a new dinghy sinceSt Martin?
Was this boat always a cutter or did you add a club stay?
Is this a scam, I know people are putting scam numbers up here and don't know why I would phone you to get this answer?
when mille romps she romps . Dinghy easy load is excellent. Adam their are no bad hair cuts they all grow out, Iain and Andy maybe just just a bit slower.
Kierra... it's "work smarter not harder"
In this episode of: “we accidentally’d the whole thing”
I'm currently working on my Yachtmaster. Has it helped with your passage planning?
Arseberg? 0:04
What happened to Adam’s arm? Hair cut incident?
How did you get such a pretty woman with a haircut like that? LOL! Hahahahah!
😀👍👍👍❤
Hi, could you not just release the clutch on the chain gipsy, rather than removing the chain?
Do not unclip until you are in the cockpit.
What a sail ^^ Nothing goes as planned and becomes a perfect day. Kiara's red trousers on top of that: Brilliant episode ;D
You guys are great but, I mean butt. I had to scrub my phone across my butt because the screen was so dirty. Butt, it got it right. 🤺🤺👍👍🍺🍺😁😁
Dont get too lazy going all electric! or you'll get fat like another crew have lol and have to start doing work outs lol
:-)
I think you are getting old and do not want to do the hard work anymore !!! kkkkkkkk
Just guessing: the bandage on your arm covers an exhaust manifold burn?
First!
So what
Congratulations.
