  • Patrick Lencioni thinks it is time to change the way we prepare people for success. Drawing from his book, The Ideal Team Player, Lencioni makes the compelling case that the key to success in an increasingly team-oriented world is being humble, hungry and smart. Whether you’re a CEO or a 7th grader, focusing on these deceptively simple virtues can radically improve your personal and professional effectiveness and fulfillment. Assess Yourself: www.tablegroup.com/books/idea...
    Patrick Lencioni is founder of The Table Group and the pioneer of the organizational health movement. Lencioni’s passion for organizations and teams is reflected in his writing, speaking and executive consulting. He is the author of 12 books, which have sold over six million copies and have been translated into more than 30 languages. His capstone book, The Advantage, is the pre-eminent source on organizational health. After eighteen years in print, his classic book, The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, remains a weekly fixture on national best-seller lists. Other notable Lencioni classics include The Ideal Team Player, The Truth About Employee Engagement, and his most recent release, The Motive: Why So Many Leaders Abdicate Their Most Important Responsibilities. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

    1. Humble - think about others ahead of themselves
    2. Hungry - work really hard
    3. Smart - emotionally intelligent, common sense

    Being humble, hungry and smart (common sense) sounds simple values but they are the foundational discipline to be a great leader and a good follower. He definitely speaks from experience and success.
    Sometimes, people don't understand and appreciate the power of simplicity and fails to deal with complexity.

    I really agree about skillful politicians in a team, based on what I've experienced recently. It's very very dangerous. First, you do not suspect them at all but when you find out at the very end, like way end, it's too late, the whole thing's gone. They will just step on people and the team to save a face for themselves. I wish I learn sth now.

    With the Corporations having out sourcing workforce and as gig workers - creating effective corporate team work won't be enough make a seamless corporate performance since a corporation must work with outsource workers who belong to another corporation or who work for themselves. This is one of the reason why there is a supply chain management problem today. That is inter corporation negotiating and relationships which is not always cooperative but sometime competitive or even adversarial. ... with these multiple inter corporate relationship a CEO task to deal with the outside world is more complex... The US government usually has the CEO assign a team of contract rep to handle this...unfortunately in many nations contract reps can sometimes be the most corrupt government official.

    • @quantum_entangled_tardigrade
      @quantum_entangled_tardigrade 4 года назад

      @@dragoninthewest1 I would stop short of saying capitalism "works great", but you have a valid point about well-regulated capitalism (essentially what FDR instituted back in the '30's to save the super-rich from themselves). FDR capitalism was more equitable than what we have now, which is Predatory Capitalism. The speaker featured in this video aids and abets those predators.
