- Patrick Lencioni thinks it is time to change the way we prepare people for success. Drawing from his book, The Ideal Team Player, Lencioni makes the compelling case that the key to success in an increasingly team-oriented world is being humble, hungry and smart. Whether you’re a CEO or a 7th grader, focusing on these deceptively simple virtues can radically improve your personal and professional effectiveness and fulfillment. 1. Humble - think about others ahead of themselves
2. Hungry - work really hard
3. Smart - emotionally intelligent, common sense
Yea
Thanks
bet!
Humble, hungry and smart means using food vouchers for half price burger meals, then not bragging about it.
I still don’t understand about smart, can anyone elaborate?

I feel like this should be in every work orientation because it shows the kind of workers out there and what their strength and weaknesses are, but also how they tend to be in the work place and how they operate. Love this!
I think all the three elements can be worked upon and improve them. I need to work upon the hunger element as far as these 3 elements are concerned. Thanks for the video.
I've read all his books except this one - always so easy to understand and apply! This talk was so powerfully delivered in a few minutes. Love it!
Love the book and his message! We are using "The Ideal Team Player" concept in our new business and I'm teaching it to my middle- and high school students.
Splendid! Teamwork begins by building trust. And the only way to do that is to overcome our need for invulnerability
I was teary on the last 2 sentences.. Yes indeed - our world (start at home) will be a better place with all these 3.
I love Patrick...all his books and talks are great.
This is one of my favourite Tedx talks ever!!
This was excellent! So relevant to today's working world and what we are all going through regularly. I shared with my team immediately. Thank you
Being humble, hungry and smart (common sense) sounds simple values but they are the foundational discipline to be a great leader and a good follower. He definitely speaks from experience and success.
Sometimes, people don't understand and appreciate the power of simplicity and fails to deal with complexity.
Patrick Lencioni is the best! I was privileged to attend his conference in Dallas at the beginning of the month.
Lucky you
As an 18 year old i'm a huge Pat fan! He has completely and radically changed my perspective on teams.
The principles of Servant Leadership will embrace HHS. Thank you for the lesson Patrick
Such a great message delivered by such a great speaker.
7:05 three simples Virtues of being a ideal team player.
Humble - erase ego
hungry - hardworking
smart - emotional smarts
Lovable slackers lack hunger.
Accendental mess maker lack smarts
Skillful Politicians lack humility they disgues themselves as humble.

Success, Were in the Universe People. Were Team Earth. It all breaks down to being the best in life towards each other. The first basic in life is we need each other. Good Vid.

Powerful video and I wish many organisations operating like this.
Wow great talk, i really see people in the team member class you describe.
MAY GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU AMEN
I agree with asking family and team members what they see about your leadership abilities or team participant style. The feedback is invaluable if they care about you. I miss having such feedback.
Really enjoyed this message - thanks!
Very well said.
"We" will always beat "Me".

Everyone on the team can redefine roles and tasks until each does what gives them the most energy and drive to grow. Too much waste otherwise.
THANK YOU FRIEND FOR GOOD PRESENTATION IAM GETTING BLESSED
Wonderful tedx talk sir
I really agree about skillful politicians in a team, based on what I've experienced recently. It's very very dangerous. First, you do not suspect them at all but when you find out at the very end, like way end, it's too late, the whole thing's gone. They will just step on people and the team to save a face for themselves. I wish I learn sth now.
Well said. True.
Humble is thinking about others before ourselves.
I would say, Humility is thinking of team's goal in front of personal goal. (no ego centeredness, not selfish)
Im a borderline accidental messmaker. Which confuses me, because I'm great until a skillful politician comes along & i get impatient with the inauthenticity snatching up all the trust from the team. 👀😤
Now im gaining smarts by not allowing narcissists into my life!!!
Awesome!
Outstanding
4 sons wow!!!!!! Good job!
Thanks!
Feelin like 👍 this needs to heard
Nice... 😎 😀 🎉 👌 Good one 1⃣... Motivational

6:47 so I think the word the might fit better is quality. Making sure every job is done to the best standard possible.
10:30 I've met plenty of these people. We don't tend to get along very well.
All goes well until you meet the people who puts you down, drags you down because they are jealous of your success, and acts in order to cause harm to you (emotional/physical).
The key is to BE NICE and Be prepared to face the real world.
Thankyou so much for this Great video, I have learned so many things in life in a span of 14mins+. It changes my mindset rw. And Thankyou to our guild boss Sir Vin who send this yt vid to everyone. Again, Thankyou so much.
Oi kuya g hahaha

Hi y'all haha
Amazing video
May Allah bless you sir.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍Great
With the Corporations having out sourcing workforce and as gig workers - creating effective corporate team work won't be enough make a seamless corporate performance since a corporation must work with outsource workers who belong to another corporation or who work for themselves. This is one of the reason why there is a supply chain management problem today. That is inter corporation negotiating and relationships which is not always cooperative but sometime competitive or even adversarial. ... with these multiple inter corporate relationship a CEO task to deal with the outside world is more complex... The US government usually has the CEO assign a team of contract rep to handle this...unfortunately in many nations contract reps can sometimes be the most corrupt government official.
Can someone share this with our Government officials? (All of them, not party specific)
11:46 ideal team player exercise
Rank yourself with a group on these and ask how to improve the 3rd virtue

A grateful mind is a powerful mind.
Good thing
surely am a Team Player, as long the team can follow my thoughts and mind. Thus I thought until I listened to this great speech :-) But,....lol
Feel so called out as an accidental mess maker 😂 damn, very insightful, thank you ❤️

Oh hey I was there
At the moment, I think I’m a lovable slacker.
Slackers are the worst employees - and literally everyone thinks they are lovable
COOL
There’s so many untruthful things in this speech that’s only meant to pull your heart strings instead of thinking deeper at the conclusions extrapolated from those empathetically and strategically crafted choice of words.
Ok…. Explain.
Can you elaborate a bit? Please
great job, Pat!
YES IA M TEAM PLAYER
😍
Nice
Oh yeah nothing like watching a TedxTalk for a university assignment.
feeling this right now lol
Exactly!!
I love team work. But I MUST be the leader.
Keep living, learning and loving, I too needed this MUST
Hmm
I do think he should have added Intellectual Intelligence to the Smart part. If someone could not do the job due to the IQ, how can she/he contribute to the team work?
Good video, and as a fellow Christian, I’m very happy to see that he isn’t afraid of sharing his faith publicly. May God bless him ! He did very well ! Going to give it a try - and try to buy the books ~
His books are outstanding.
Thank you. It seems you have wound up your 25 years experience in this 14 min talk.

3:24 "You might have to be prepared to do most of the work yourself. Teamwork is everywhere." ...huh????
Hello! I am a translator and I would like to create ukrainian subtitles for this video. How can we collaborate?
Short answer: Nope.
I would love to know if Lencioni’s hypothesis have scientific evidence: anyone?
Nate dog? You there?
No more caffeine for him.
i am a lovable slacker
stay hungry, stay foolish, AND BEING SMART
I wonder which on he is on the HHS scale. 🤔😏
Patrick have drink 3 red bull?
Why cant someone be a little of all three? No certain one describes me . Im a mixture . Humble, hungry also A politician. Is that possible?
Being all 3 is the ideal team player.
There is no "I" in "TEAM"
you'll see how teamplayer you are when you try to cook your favourite food with someone else.
Screw the team! I am the " I ", in Team.
Hahahahah
Where is the language
This is a little bit like the 3A+ model of Arbinger.
pardon my ignorance but where does the bible says that the root of all sin is PRIDE? min (4:48)
Jonathan Aguillon Isaiah 14:12-14 - this may be his reference.
Hey, Team! Let's work as team to destroy what's left of the world! TEAM CAPITALISM! [smh]
You mean Team Corporate. Capitalism works great when it is properly regulated. Unfortunately, many of those protections have slowly been repealed. Teddy Roosevelt rolls in his grave every time Disney buys up a competitor.
@@dragoninthewest1 I would stop short of saying capitalism "works great", but you have a valid point about well-regulated capitalism (essentially what FDR instituted back in the '30's to save the super-rich from themselves). FDR capitalism was more equitable than what we have now, which is Predatory Capitalism. The speaker featured in this video aids and abets those predators.
