TONS of respect for you and Leah to make the decision to put your kids right into a full Japanese school. Albeit there is a big bit of xenophobia still rampant in Asian countries, this will be a huge, huge plus for your family and your kids as they grow older. The fact that they will be fully fluent in TWO languages will be absolutely priceless (especially if they want to stay in Dad's profession maybe as an import/exporter of whatever they find a passion about!) and is a huge oversight for first/second generation immigrant families. You made the right but tough choice! Your kids will get over the language barrier super, super quickly and will be speaking fluent in both Japanese and English before you know it. Now... will DAD be able to speak Japanese is the question! HA! You're going to be in a house full of women who can talk shit about you in a completely different language! HAHA! my japanese grandparents and mom didnt like teaching me japanese when i would visit them, because they wanted me to study english more. plus they said "you are here in japan with us you dont need to know japanese because we speak it." i can read hiragana and katakana but my speaking japanese is so broken i cant hold a conversation. always regretted not doing more to learn it as a kid, but i didnt care then
here in India kids need to learn 3 languages at the same time since the age of 5 haha

Josh, been watching you since EP1. You're blessed beyond belief brother, you have your youth, your beautiful family and experiencing life as best as you can. Your sincerity and genuine personality is what shines most in your videos but its funny how it started out as JDM car stuff which why most of us started watching. The best part about this so far besides the JDM goodness is seeing what great parents you Leah both are to your little girls. The kids will find it much easier to adapt and learn Japanese though not without difficulties, and that's completely normal. They will appreciate you greatly in the future for giving them the opportunity to experience life in different areas of the world.

Immersion language learning is the best way to learn a new language especially for younger children (their brains are still like sponges). Based off experience here, it works.

I recommend you take night classes to learn the language, the sooner the better. Your experience in Japan will be totally different. I've lived in Japan twice before and being able to communicate on your own makes it so much better.
dude when i came back to japan, my son went to japanese school not understanding or speaking japanese. my wife had to go to school with him for 2 months or so to help translate for my son. now he reads, writes, and speaks fluently. your girls will learn in due time.

That narrow section of road is to space traffic out and slow it down. With those narrow two lane roads there has to be staggering or traffic will come across an obstruction like a parked car and grind to a halt.
