Your builds always blow my mind. You're so casual about these huge projects that you tackle whereas other channels make a huge fuss about the smallest amount of effort. Love this channel
I love the use of Christmas decorations cut up for the bubble lens part. Really makes it pop out. Fantastic subtle chrome glare on the outer shell as the light hits it also. Really nice work!
Oh my goodness! I remember a toy from my childhood that my friend had, it was this droid on a stand with a motorized turning mechanism and a disc launcher built in. You’d have a lightsaber with IR leds in the hilt and it would track you around the room for you to do target practice / deflection training with. Fun times!
I know! Would be super cool. I’d thought about making an Essie droid and putting a camera as its eye to monitor printers, but it just wouldn’t work out in my current workshop layout.
I just found your channel today and damn i learned so much from the 3 videos so far. Alot of cool techniques and tips. So far i only made a custom bmw rc car and i wish i knew these techniques back then. Btw your work is amazing 👏
0:58 have you tried using a Sander like a 2 inch sander from proxon? I have the foot Sander and the Proxon and the Proxon just feels much more controlled and fast. Plus its not a heavy sander at all! :)
I have too. As someone who has used modelling paste many times for its intended use, I’m not sure I’d want to go slathering it all over pieces, even thinned down. If it works for you, great, but I like knowing my props are as solid as they can be and will stand up over time. I would be interested in testing out what sanding it is like though. My main reason for using ABS is to cut down on sanding difficulty so if thinned modelling paste is terrible to sand that would be an immediate no from me on top of my other concerns. It’s great for adding texture to props though! Modelling paste with acrylic paint and baking soda/corse medium gives an excellent rust effect.
They were actually meant to be a part of this video but then I realized the droid was probably enough 😂 They are still definitely on the to-build list!
@@MMsPropShop As a nerd that is going to attempt to follow your build I would love to see the binoculars done up! Your droid tutorial helped me with my 3D printed Maul wrist bracelet too.
The model designer could improve ease of finishing by moving that main seam off the ridges to one side. There doesn't seem to be a reason, other than designing the mesh with a "mirror" modifier, to place the seam where it is.
Really depends on the size of droid and the complexity of the paint job. This one I got finished in about a week and a half. I’ve had others that I’ve spent months on.

Thank you! Any concept of normalcy has gone completely out the window for me lol
I've jumped into the deep end on helmet FDM printing. Your videos are like school for me. Thank you so much! Your work is amazing.
You are an incredible maker. Your painting is just . . . well, it's just awesome!! We so need to collab on a project together! (just say the word!)
Thank you! And I would absolutely love to work on a collab!
Your work ethic is insane. All these big props and projects always turn out great!

Glass cabochons can also work great for droid lenses but sometimes you can’t get them in the exact sizes you need.
Thanks!
The base was almost as cool as the droid💚🇬🇧🌱 Great work
You’re so talented. I discovered your channel today and I’m so pleased.
Keep the awesome content coming!
I was kinda hoping you'd make this a remote control drone. Still neat either way, nice attention to detail :D
Your work deserve so much more views !
Great build as always you have great talent for these builds ❤.
Great build!!! I have the Pit Droid from Droid Division and hoping to get to printing soon! Your channel really helps out!!! Thank you!
Great build. Love your painting technique

Super cool project! Great work as always. Thx for sharing!
I love this. Wish I could buy a finished one somewhere.
That came out great! So cool!
Looks spectacular! Amazing work.
Thanks!
This is awesome. Imagine putting a security camera in it? haha

Really nice, clean Droid build. Looks great!
Looks absolutely amazing, the best part was you and your dad fighting over who gets it 🤣

this just makes me want to 3d print the drone from halo and the silly british one portal
Would also be interested in you giving it lights and sound!
Outstanding as always, Well done!
Really cool stuff, definitely something I wanna get into this summer🎉
Love this build! Congrats!
Imagine if that got turned into a film projector.
not gonna lie that is so cool!
You be putting that little foot sander to work! 😂😂😂 I keep forgetting to order one.
Haha, I have a small army of them now
I've had this kit almost a year now still in my shipping box. Hopefully now after watching this video, I can finally get motivated to start.
Really awesome results 😊
Magnífico trabajo como siempre 😊
Why did you choose to print in ABS instead of PLA?
Ease of sanding. It takes way less effort to smooth out ABS than PLA. I pretty much avoid using PLA at all costs now for props.
Amazing work, subscribed
Can I ask what foot sander you use? Great idea on using that!
Great work! :D
Impressive, you have a new sub . Thank you !
Do you have links for the lenses

I haven’t… yet anyway 😂 Might need to change that in the name of sanding science.
Ive seen many using Liquitex Modeling paste instead of bondo?

What brand/model of foot sander pls
I would have installed a security camera in it.
Where did you get the base file from! I like that rock sand base
We watched them make it lol
Would you consider doing Maul's binoculars next? 😃
They were actually meant to be a part of this video but then I realized the droid was probably enough 😂 They are still definitely on the to-build list!

do you have the antenna file you would be willing to share?
magnifique !!!
Someone really needs to design that podracer helmet 😂 it’s too complex for me to do, otherwise I’d do it myself.
I’m very tempted to try. Hopefully I haven’t maxed out my brain capacity for 3D modeling for the month 😂

It’s an older file so I’m sure now that would be a consideration. Maybe there will be an update made to it to make the finishing process easier.
Do you build masks for sale?
Dad has a Sith Shrine?!? 😳
Haha, that’s what I nicknamed it. It’s more than just a Darth Maul collection because there’s a lot of Sidious/Plapatine stuff as well.
On an average how long does a droid take you to finish. From start to finish??
Really depends on the size of droid and the complexity of the paint job. This one I got finished in about a week and a half. I’ve had others that I’ve spent months on.
I have one question can you really do this to have cameras inside? 😅 is it a way?
Nice !!!
The droid in the movie looks like it was built from LEGO.
I want a real flying one
Dont be so hard on youre self for using that foodfiler i use one my self and is so happy with it
Why not a nail file :P just joking !
This will has convinced me NOT to buy an FDM. You should get a job at a body shop you have the sanding skillz.
When you sand it with that vibrating circular sander make sure you're wearing a mask you're not breathing plastic in your lungs
🤌
