This channel needs to be the standard for what is possible with 3D printing. Calling this beautiful work is the understatement of the year. Phenomenal.
My mom graduated from high school in 83 but some time before that she either made the ceramic Yoda or bought the ceramic Yoda and then painted it. My family still has it. My mom passed back in August from cancer. Watching this video of you building a Yoda from scratch just reminded me of that ceramic Yoda sitting on the shelf at home
Totally randomly found this through the almighty algorithm, and I'm so sold. As a mini painter, I love seeing our products being used in other people's projects. Speaking of which, you should totally get in touch with Gaahleri Airbrush company and get you a Swallowtail airbrush. A .7 needle handle airbrush would make those basecoats go so much faster and save some hand fatigue! I'm super excited to see what's next (and to apparently go watch though a ton of backlog videos...I'm seriously nerding out rn)
Finally caved and bought some of the fumed silica. They really need to warn people how weightless that stuff is so they don't panic and think they got shipped an empty jar.
haven´t even started the video yet, i know it´s probably gonna be your best build and also the best yoda lifesize diy project on youtube 5 secs in the video hahaha
Again awesome job and video. He was my first big project when I got my first filament printer 3 years ago. Same files as yours. He isn't my best, but show how far I come with my post-processing and painting. He overlooks our house from a nook above our front door.
Not much else to say but WOW! So fun and inspiring to watch your projects come to life. I had a big smile on my face at the 20 min mark. Yoda looked like he was ready to jump off the screen
The music at the end of the build was giving me Star Trek vibes, lol. Love watching your videos and got me doing a life-size BD-1 to put on my back like the game.
I had this file for a while now, after watching your build I really want to try the build. I have only a FDM printer so mine would not be as awesome as yours. Your moms costume is really cool, she could make patterns and put them up for sale on your channel for us sewing challenged people, I would gladly purchase one for this model. Love your channel.
Awesome! I've got a few Galactic Armory models (Republic Commando helmet, RC figure, and Revan mask) that I just printed after I got my first printer (Bambu A1 with AMS lite). It feels like cheating vs scratchbuilding! I've been looking at that Yoda for when I get a resin printer. I live in Ohio so I also put the RC helmet on the backburner until I can paint in the garage. I only have a large (model wise, maybe 3'x18"x18") spray booth but it can't handle spray can fumes. Airbrush is fine though.
Incredible! There’s actually a product called airbrush masking putty you should consider getting! It’s great for that kind of masking job like on the eyes
As one extra step, you may want to try the soft feel of ultra-matte clear varnish, which helps make organic things look much more lifelike. A few companies make this type of varnish, and you can learn more about it by checking out the (somewhat freaky) hobby of "Real Dolls."
Looks quite real as apposed to the complete CGI creation for the prequels. My only note would be the thickness of the eyelids. I wonder how he would appear if the lids were 1/3 the thickness, bringing the eyes slightly forward in the head.
Awesome build!!!! So much resin, did the bigger pieces fit in you wash station or did you need to use a bucket :) Robes were so good also. Great job by your mother.
All of the pieces managed to fit (barely), and I dunked them in my typical wash station bucket, but for the really big parts I also used my Anycubic wash & cure max just to make sure they were truly clean. Used it to cure the bigger parts as well.
Another great video as always, id definitely buy the figure but is love to get your version, any chance of that? I have elegoo Saturn 3 just bought qidi plus 4 and your Muslim me want this printer... Really addictive
It’s not the printing itself that’s the issue, it’s the spray painting I’d need to do the the FDM parts to smooth them out and prime them that’s the issue when it’s colder.
Thanks! There shouldn’t be any uncured resin, they’re completely solid. It’s only hollowed pieces that don’t have proper drainage holes that are at risk of bursting.
@@MMsPropShop Hate to disagree with you there but I have had 3 solid model that about 3 to 4 months later burst on me. I have found out when you print them solid, you can't really completely cure them inside.
Fumed silica specifically. I’ve been messing around with and switching back to other powders because I realized that the fumed silica makes the mixture a lot tougher to sand than when something like baby powder is mixed in.
@@MMsPropShop Fantastic and thank you! Also, do you have a patreon? I tried to find it, but no luck and if you did then I'd love to support you on there and I'm sure others would feel the same way too. You make excellent content!
Wow. I thought you are more of FDM girl but nice to see you are using resin as well. It is of course best for detailed models. It just suck it is so messy and toxic. I have Jupiter SE and love it but… not the hassle around the printing
Have you considered getting more into 3d modelling? Your builds are always impressive, but would be cool to see some original designs from your own making.
I dabble a little bit and I’ve considered getting more into it, but I’ve just realized it doesn’t really interest me as much as the other aspects that go into building projects like this and I’d rather just pay someone else to do it for me so I can concentrate on building and painting.
@@MMsPropShop Funny, I have the opposite mindset. I find the process of designing and modelling to be the most appealing. I view my 3d printer primarily as a way of getting my stuff into reality. Sadly, I don't have the interest and focus to get good enough at painting to ever do my 3d art justice. I'm surprised someone as creative as you doesn't have the itch to make something truly of your own design, but I guess people are different.

I've never seen a better yoda. You are destined for greatness. That's amazing.

Finally caved and bought some of the fumed silica. They really need to warn people how weightless that stuff is so they don't panic and think they got shipped an empty jar.
Wow!
You and your mum executed that, perfectly.
What a superb project!
Congratulations!
Ps. I prefer the OT Yoda.😂
Haha, it’s all good. Maybe one day I’ll do a proper OG puppet Yoda.
@@MMsPropShop 😆I´m from the camp that thinks Lucas overdid it with the green screen on the prequels...But then, I was there in 1977.

Truelly, it's a master piece ! So realistic and serious !
You are very gifted !
that paintjob is just a pure perfection!
Calling Yoda "an eight hundred-plus-year-old balding alien" made me laugh so hard. Amazing work as always, M!!
Nice work, glad to see the thought process before printing begins. The model looks great 👍
Your job on that Yoda is simply amazing.
I kept waiting for Yoda to move at the end. Incredible work!!
i tell you in french: tu es une vraie professionnelle !!! tu es incroyable!!!!

wow that is awesome! Well done. I always loved watching him in the prequels flipping around like a maniac lol.
Absolutely amazing work. Thanks for sharing your journey of creation with this brilliant piece.
Wow !!! This came out looking awesome thank you for sharing. Merry Christmas.
Can you make a full size Rancor next? He’s my favorite monster. Lol. Yoda looks amazing. I’m only a little embarrassed to be seeing his rump.
Winter project idea: Babu Frik!
The music at the end of the build was giving me Star Trek vibes, lol. Love watching your videos and got me doing a life-size BD-1 to put on my back like the game.
Dang that is cool! I appreciate showing us your printing and airbrushing techniques. :)
You brought Yoda to life 😊😊😊
Simply amazing!! Thank you for sharing your build!! Stay healthy and happy for the upcoming year!!😳🤔🙂
Absolutely amazing like always! Thank you!
You returned!!! I love watching your videos.
Well done, looks great. I wish my resin printer was that large, that’s amazing
So awesome I'm actually lost for words!
Another stunning build. Your channel is insane

Alcohol inks also would have worked really well for age spots and some washes

4:08 you already scarred me with Yoda's butt. 🤣
He came out amazing.

great work!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
wow! That is a job wel done!!!
Thank you for the how to showing us building one
now that looks life like😊👍
like always awesome job
nice build, when working with hair i can suggest working from the bottom up instead of top down.
This was awesome!

gosh, I'm also making a Yoda , but in 1/6 scale and ep 5!
Great build! Though I wonder, how cold is it in your area? I thought enclosed printers can still do well indoors

AWESOME work as always.!!!!
17:07 Cool piece, nice job! Please can you tell me the real name of this "hair"?
Can you please explain the thickened resin you brushed on the back of the head? It's UV resin mixed with what?
Wow! Great looking build! With the feet solid arent you worried about uncured resin inside bursting and oozing sooner or later?
Thanks! There shouldn’t be any uncured resin, they’re completely solid. It’s only hollowed pieces that don’t have proper drainage holes that are at risk of bursting.

@@malibuman792004 Correct. The UV curing only fully cures a crust around the piece. The inner thickness will still be uncured.
