Jane Curtin was "straight laced" one both on and off the set of SNL. She was a sensible, level headed, hard working professional committed to doing the best job she could. She didn't indulge in wild behaviour, make outrageous requests or became difficult and demanding to work with so not surprisingly she found it an often frustrating experience being surrounded by those who did behave in this manner. More importantly she never fell victim to the excesses of show business. She kept focused and was able to parlay that into a successful career post SNL with two hit comedy shows where she won Emmy's for her much deserved work.
+woohooboy I was thinking along similar lines. Just watching her here, it's easy to see that although a little older physically, she seems to be exactly the same person she was "back in the day." Not too many of us can keep that youthful charm and sincerity.
@@KubrickQuentin No Jane did not die. She is still lovingly alive & still entertaining the masses! Love her! Best to all out there from South New Jersey, USA
A very well-adjusted and classy professional. Very heartening that someone can maintain her sense of self in a rather chaotic, high-pressure environment.
I watched her growing up in the late 70's early 80's on SNL and have made it a point to see just about everything she has been in since. Her news sets on SNL made me absolutely fall in love with her as an adolesant and that just never went away, I STILL have a cruch on her to this day :)
Jane Curtin's backstage frustrations with "SNL" are well known. She was (and still is) a very disciplined performer and the fact that she was surrounded by those who had the exact opposite approach to comedy made it a difficult experience for her. She developed strong bonds with her fellow female castmates (Gilda Radner & Laraine Newman) but found some of her male castmates harder to get along with. She and John Belushi were not close at all. Still she has had a very successful career
People always talk about what a 'comic genius' John Belushi was. I read that he wanted to keep the women's skits down to a minimum on SNL because he didn't think they were funny. I thought Jane Curtin and Gilda Radner were much more entertaining than him.
Jane Curtin was the only Not Ready For Prime Time Player who didn't do drugs. She caught John Belushi going through her pocketbook, but Lorne Michaels did nothing. The show needed Belushi.
I like and admire her a lot.. while Belushi, Ackroyd and Chase were self-medicating themselves, Curtin always kept a level head and was strong enough to avoid those temptations
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kate & Allie!! The telly has gotten so stupid with all these idiotic reality-programming. We need more "Kate & Allie," on the telly. We need to let loose and be silly!
Straight-laced lady for sure. Kind of wanted her to be funnier and more charismatic, but glad for the work she did on sNL and others shows. Maybe the interviewer helped to make it kind of boring.

Did she die? Reads like a memorial.

+KubrickQuentin One day it will be. :(

Very humble lady! A rare species these days.

Always enjoyed the work of Jane Curtin for her originality, beauty and refreshing comedic talent.
God I love her, she's so intelligent and honest.
Love you Jane! Blessings!
What a great interview! On both their sides! She is very articulate! Love Jane. :)
The best of the best.
I like her because she is so smart and can really do anything she puts her mind too and least that how she comes across .
I just love her. She seems so warm and balanced.
LOVE HER
I like Jane Curtain. I like watching her and thinking of the endless number of characters she could play.
Thanks Ernie and PBS.

She's so down to earth, what a lovely woman
Lovely woman, utterly professional.
She's the best!!
I Love Jane Curtin!
Love her! Glad she didn’t want to become part of the Hollyweird elite
4:40. Great insight!, This generation is terrified that they might offend anyone!
I'm sure that she saw herself back in the days of SNL when she asked to stay part in the cast of 3rd Rock
Classy all the way. Miss her on celebrity Jeopardy.
I like and admire her a lot.. while Belushi, Ackroyd and Chase were self-medicating themselves, Curtin always kept a level head and was strong enough to avoid those temptations
3rd Rock ❤
She had two very successful series in a row? What about SNL, Kate and Allie and Third Rock? We're they all not "in a row"?
I would liked to have had a wife like Jane...solid gold.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kate & Allie!! The telly has gotten so stupid with all these idiotic reality-programming. We need more "Kate & Allie," on the telly. We need to let loose and be silly!
Liked her in Kate and Allie ..
I never realized how much she resembles David Bowie
Well tough! Comedy is supposed to be offensive! Comedians make fun of people! HELLO!
Straight-laced lady for sure. Kind of wanted her to be funnier and more charismatic, but glad for the work she did on sNL and others shows. Maybe the interviewer helped to make it kind of boring.
landshark!
😘
A wonderful actress, however, she didn't re-define anything.
