    Tatterdemon sounds fab ~ as does The Halloween Fiend which I had thought was lighter fare until now. Thank you for blessing Afterlife with Archie so! It has to be the best meld of my grown-up Lydia horror and little Lydia childhood memories! Love those comics :)

    Al Sarrantonio's Orangefield books are pretty great, plus Black and Orange by Benjamin Kane Etheridge. For shorter Autumnal fiction I love Kealen Patrick Burke and James A. Moore. Both have written collections based around Halloween and this time of year.

    • @jasonmcgarry550
      @jasonmcgarry550 3 года назад

      I just finished it the other day and I’m a little disappointed. I feel like there were a lot of loose ends and the characters did things that didn’t make sense.
      Spoiler warning
      clay getting with Ali after his sister just died and others are dying left and right was pretty weird to me like I would think it would kill the mood. Also I’m not sure what exactly happened with Ali. I guess the explanation for all the weird stuff she does is that she was possessed or something but didn’t she know about all the devil stuff? The preservation society were all in on it and we never figured out what Tyler said to the two who turned on clay to calm them down but that kinda proves they knew what was going on. Also we Never got it confirmed if Lee was having sex with Jess. Overall a bit confusing with loose ends and I wanted to like Ali but she did some strange things.

    This is a great list! I'm going to be reading mostly anthologies during October I think.....I'm working through a novel that's a bit of a slog so some short stories will be refreshing.

    I'm currently reading and enjoying Cullen Bunn's HARROW COUNTY series, so I second your recommendation! Two other books I would recommend for the Halloween season are classics that I'm sure many of your viewers have already read, but if not they might really enjoy discovering them: GHOST STORY by Peter Straub (a novel) and THE OCTOBER COUNTRY by Ray Bradbury (a story collection).

    • @TheShadesofOrange
      @TheShadesofOrange  4 года назад

      I shamefully I have not read those two books so I really should get them on my TBR. Maybe I can do a follow up video next year. And I'm so glad your enjoying Harrow County. I think it's perfect for this time of year.

    It’s funny. Halloween fiend is a book I was most excited about and I’m definitely going to start with that one after this review. I think Halloween is the only excuse for me to read middle grade, because the season is all about nostalgia for me so I’ve also got small spaces in my shopping cart now. I can deal with most horror but it seems so many Halloween books involve children dying, i was wondering if any of these books have that, mainly the tatterdemon omnibus.

    The horror short story collection "Something Borrowed, Something Blood-Soaked" by Christa Carmen definitely fits the season. Multiple stories were set during All Hallow's Eve/Halloween!
