Ooohhh spooky books -Strange Grace by tessa gratton -leviathan wakes by james s.a. corey -wink poppy midnight by April Genevieve tucholke -sawkill girls by claire legrand -white stag by Kara barbieri (new all time fave) -illuminae by kay kristoff and amie Kaufman -the hazel wood by Melissa Albert
ooooh I'll be reading The Diviners next month and I didn't actually realise it was a dark/creepy book, now I'm even more excited :) And The Coldest Girl in Coldtown has been on my radar for ages!! Hopefully soon because I feel like it's right up my ally
The Diviners is one of my favorites! I recommend it all the time. I actually just uploaded my fall recommended reads video and The Diviners is definitely on my list. I would recommend any of Dawn Kurtagich's books. All of them are super creepy and dark. I recently read her latest book Teeth in the Mist and it was so good. I definitely recommend the audiobooks for her books. Between the cast of characters and the sound effects, it's so good.
ooh i'm getting ready to make a spooky rec video and we have similar taste! :') i feel like i can never get away from The Diviners so i just put a hold on the audiobook, time to try it out hahaha
if you're a ve schwab fan (like me) I HIGHLY recommend "the dark vault" its a bind up of her two books the archived and the unbound its sooooo good!! Very spooky and creepy and the romance is adorable.
3 recommendations for you! All with a common theme of a creepy house! Two are older books, but I recommend the audiobooks. The narrator is the same and he has the perfect voice! The first is The Elementals by Michael McDowell and then Burnt Offerings by Robert Marasco. A newer option is Kill Creek by Scott Thomas. 4 popular horror authors are given the chance to spend the night in an infamous haunted house and then be interviewed for a web show. It was amazing!!!
Here's some recommendations for you all: The silent patient by Alex Michaelidis it's very similar to Verity The turn of the key by Ruth Ware which is similar to Lock every door...I think they're great for this time of the year..I hope you're having a lovely week❤
If you want a great intro to King I highly recommend The Shining. I just listened to the audiobook in two days (it was phenomenal). It's a suspenseful dread type of horror and has the possessed/haunted house (or hotel really) aspect as well. Freaky without being extremely gory or graphic (still has murders and descriptive violence, not even as bad as a modern horror film honestly). 😁✌️
Have you read the Darkest Powers trilogy by Kelley Armstrong? It's my favorite YA paranormal romance series, and I think it fits in well with all the PNR books you talk about but in an old school way (necromancers, werewolves, witches, sorcerers, vampires, etc). The audiobook narrator isn't for everyone but I loooovve her!
Loving these recommendations. I started come find me by Megan Miranda last night and I am hooked. I am 4 chapters in and it’s a good mystery. It’s a YA mystery. I am enjoying it so far. But your video yesterday got me hyped to read a thriller. And i read the savage song and I DNF’d it. But I may get it another chance.
I DNFed the Coldest Girl and barely finished The Diviners (probably more a me problem for the Diviners, I got bored, didn't find it spooky enough because I didn't realize it was just the first book. I wasn't in the mood to continue so...) But I have the Passage & This Savage Song on my TBR And I'll be adding Another Little Piece because it sounds really good!
Cold town is tied for first with Valient. I keep getting pulled back to it and rereading. It's such a comfort read right now. I havent reread a lot of standalones in the last few years and that's one I just eat up over and over again. I reread the tithe/valient/ironside so many times I cant reread them much anymore. So Coldtown really supplemented that but I dont want to not be able to reread again so i have to slow down with that one. I really want an entire series in that world.
Oh and a spooky vamp book would be Sunshine by Robin McKinley. But just read the first part. The second part is more about a mental acceptance and coming to a decision and nothing actually happens. But the first part is really good halloween vibes.
This Savage Song is on my tbr, plus I'm torn about The Devouring Gray, it gets such mixed reviews! Fall creepy recs: The Taking of Annie Thorne aka The Hiding Place and In the Woods (adult), A Series of Unfortunate Events and City of Ghosts (middle grade). I'm kinda not sure about The Diviners, because I think it might be a bit scarier than what I can handle. Btw love this mug!
I read the Coldest Girl in Coldtown last week! It was really good, and I agree that it’s probably Holly Black’s best book. I tried listening to the Diviners, but it felt too (realistic) demonic to me 👀
I wouldn't read the second book of the this savage song series if I were you, Victoria Shwab pulled a Veronica Roth and the ending kind of ruined the duology for me. Your headband is super cute btw!
Read the diviner’s a few years ago and I think a lot of it went over my head or I was zoning out because I’m rereading it right now and there’s a lot in there that I didn’t catch or remember from before. I’m also loving it a lot more this time around! Also, I started the passage last year, got 100 pages in and was really enjoying but got intimidated by it and put it down:( ... lol I want to pick it back up though. The intimidation aspect is also why I don’t pick up a lot of Stephen king even though I have a desire to :p
Hey Kate I really enjoy watching your videos. I just wanted to recommend some dark creepy books for you. It’s the book series of The Haunting of Sunshine Girl. I think you might like it :)
I loved This Savage Song - it was a really addicting read and I couldn't put it down! Have you read The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa? I really recommend it for this time of year if you like to read about vampires, one of the better ones imo 😊
I read The Passage this year and really liked it. Have you read the sequels? I bought the second book, The Twelve, but haven't started it yet. Since you like vampire novels, have you read any of Rhionnon Frater's books? I really enjoyed her Vampire Bride and Pretty When She Dies series.
Most underrated scary book I've read in awhile is "The Call" by Peadar O'Guilin....it's about creepy Fae that randomly call young people into their world to die. The young have 3 min to survive before the fae do horrible things to their body..its so much more than that but the world is terrifying and gruesome and I LOVED IT...please check it out I would love to hear your thoughts...I listened to it on Audible and it just added to the awesomeness of the book! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
I've read them, a little disappointed with the series as a whole. The first book, while I did have some issues with it, I still enjoyed. I saw the potential it had and was hoping the series would just get better and better. Unfortunately, that's not the case. This series has a serious issue with pacing, there's way too much needless information that should have been cut out. At one point I considered DNFing the series, cause I was just dragging through so much of it and it took me forever to finish. They weren't terrible, and I do have friends that love this series, but for me they weren't memorable and I definitely won't ever reread them. Unhauled them a while ago.

You’ve been spoiling us with so many new videos lately 🥰
I guess it's kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to watch newly released movies online?
@Logan Thomas i use FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
The Diviners is one of my favorite spooky series! Definitely something i’m considering rereading in october once i finish my TBR list. 🖤
You are slaying the fall/Halloween aesthetic!
Nicole Sedran thank you!🎃😈
You made me want to reread The Coldest Girl in Coldtown... it’s been a minute and I think it’ll get me into the Halloween mood!

ooooh I'll be reading The Diviners next month and I didn't actually realise it was a dark/creepy book, now I'm even more excited :) And The Coldest Girl in Coldtown has been on my radar for ages!! Hopefully soon because I feel like it's right up my ally
I’m so happy you mentioned Between The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea! I feel like no one has heard of it.

Cosmic Stardust of that energy drink is soooo good!
I loved This Savage Song. I listened on audio and it was so well done. Same with Coldest Girl in Cold Town
I love these recommendation videos! I added almost all of these to my tbr!
Ooooo I want something cotton candy flavor to drink!! Minus any creepy clowns that could pop up in any of these spooky books.
Loved this video! I need to give Coldest Girl in Coldtown a try and I'm interested in Devouring Gray.
Awesome mug and shirt!
YES THE DIVINERS!!!! YES THE MERCILESS!!!! YES THIS SAVAGE SONG!!!
SO MUCH SPOOK SO MUCH CHILL
ooh i'm getting ready to make a spooky rec video and we have similar taste! :') i feel like i can never get away from The Diviners so i just put a hold on the audiobook, time to try it out hahaha
it took me FOREVER to finally give in and try the diviners but it's well worth the hype! ahh can't wait to check out your video once it's up! :)
if you're a ve schwab fan (like me) I HIGHLY recommend "the dark vault" its a bind up of her two books the archived and the unbound its sooooo good!! Very spooky and creepy and the romance is adorable.

Scary book: "Digger Doyle's Book of Real Monsters" (YA novel, Japanese beasts, dark mountain-forest-sea adventure)

Vicious by V.E Schwab is amazing! And it has a supernatural kinda element into it. You should try it
Fangirl's Heart & Soul I read Vicious a few years ago! Also great for this time of year

I loved City of Ghosts! I'm hoping to pick up the sequel this year!
@@Katesbookdate Same, I don't feel I'd reread them, but I want to know Cassidy's future adventures, what with the adaptation and all 😉
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand has the spooookiest vibes.
I read the Coldest Girl in Coldtown last week! It was really good, and I agree that it’s probably Holly Black’s best book.

Currently listening to The Diviners by Libba Bray
The unbecoming of Mara Dyer is my favorite spooky reads
such a great book!
I loved This Savage Song - it was a really addicting read and I couldn't put it down! Have you read The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa? I really recommend it for this time of year if you like to read about vampires, one of the better ones imo 😊
Shazana Mansoor those books may or may not be popping up in another video 👀👀
I read The Passage this year and really liked it. Have you read the sequels? I bought the second book, The Twelve, but haven't started it yet. Since you like vampire novels, have you read any of Rhionnon Frater's books? I really enjoyed her Vampire Bride and Pretty When She Dies series.
I read The Passage earlier this year and I didn't love it as much as you but it was still good! Are you planning to read the sequels?

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Does The Passage wrap up well or are you left really needing to read the rest of the series?
Kira Donofero I only read the first book and was satisfied with that!
it took me until 11:30 to realize you were wearing a skeleton shirt, I need glasses I swear lol
Yessss!
💜💜💜
Hi. Has anyone here read a discovery of witches? I bought the trilogy on sale. I saw the tv show, so I'm curious.
I've read them, a little disappointed with the series as a whole. The first book, while I did have some issues with it, I still enjoyed.
