I dont believe breaking Benjamin is generic, they just found their sound and are running with it. But this song definitely triggers some emotions in me lol
They definitely put out good songs. They do have a particular sound, it's just it's almost like every song is written in the same key lol. But it works for them!
I don't think generic is the word you are looking for. Breaking benjamin do have a style and a lot of their music is noticeably similar, but when a breaking Benjamin song comes on I know its them. Generic music I think is more of an artist that when they play their music it sounds similar to many other artists in their particular genre of music. When 3 songs come on the radio and all 3 sound like it could really be coming from the same artist but the radio DJ says you just heard music from artists A, B, and C. Well that is likely generic music.
Generic? WTF???? I bet their bank account is not generic. Come on, one of the best bands out there. Least they are making music that a lot can relate to. They are doing things that they feel is the right direction for them.

Appreciate the comment forreal. The greatest thing about music is everyone is going to have their opinions of every band that they enjoy. BB puts out really good music and have a ton of hit songs, their sound is very distinct and carries the same tone on majority of their music. The most recent album I believe was their best yet and they really started to reinvent themselves so hopefully they keep doing that moving forward! They are far from generic! They found their sound. Would you say that about Alice Cooper or Ozzy? No they all have a sound you recognize! Not all their songs are sad. They hit just about every feeling imaginable. They also mess around with darker feelings some people don't address.
