So this is my interpretation of this beautiful and haunting song...
I believe that it is about a couple or siblings. One finds the other fading away from a self-inflicted injury from a suicide attempt.
They call the paramedics and theres only so much that can be done; the other knows their loved one is going to pass, and the injured one passes. I imagine the spirit being seen by the remaining one leaving the body, trying to hold on but not being able to stay.
The other must fight the inner battles of losing a loved one and wanting to be with them, not wanting to be left on earth alone. The remaining one thats left behind has nightmares of the entire event and re-lives the traumatic experience over and over again, always coming up short in getting to their spouse or sibling in time. This person breaks down often, Broken, Falling Alive.
