The lyrics could have been about what's in the fridge and it would probably still make me cry.
It’s because of that damn melody. A beautiful melody unlocks a part of the human spirit that is super spiritual and primal, the part that cries out for something more, something beyond. The best musicians, like Thom Yorke, are like vessels that bring us the key to unlock that part of us.
Sour Milk,
Is in my fridge
A half-full milkshake
Left out for days
And loaded fries
Fanta, pies
Covered with dirt
Girl Scout tagalongs
Fresh from the pan
Crumbs on the edge
That is what is here
In my fridge
That is what is in
In my fridge
@@elliotanderson324 Someone needs to do a cover with these lyrics
@@elliotanderson324 I really felt "Fanta, pies" part.
@@serbianstallion8321 Thank you. I’m glad I could emotionally touch someone with these lyrics I totally didn’t spend 5 minutes on while trying to loosely rhyme with the original. It is nice when fine art gets appreciated and makes a difference in someone’s life.
I consider this song to be some of the best Radiohead to ever exist.
Amy took her life a few years back, and this helped some. Eternally linked...useless regrets about things never done...
Definitely but also some of the most depressing.
I think you can say that with any song of Radiohead jaja
Underrated
You read my mind. Possibly THE best, but I dunno. Probably the most haunting, more even than Pyramid
What a criminally underrated song.
Bc not everyone deserves or understands this precious
which genre is that?
Anirudh K same
Just fell in love with it.
Who said it is underrated? I was at their concert 2 years ago and when it started the whole crowd gone mad!
The best thing about Radiohead is that it grows on you. An album like The King Of Limbs may not seem appealing to you at first but you'll start appreciating it eventually.
Crazy how it just happened to me this week 😂
I’ve been listening to almost all their discography except for this album and out of curiosity I went and checked it once more and got struck by this song especially. But event some other titles like Little By Little or Lotus Flower poked my interest 😳
Better than Huey Lewis?
I'll add to this that as well as each of them growing on you.. each one is stylistically different but always unmistakably them. They are one of the greatest band the world has ever known. And as you say.. every single new exploration of themselves they release is a gem of rare beauty. Often requiring you to invest with you're time as a type of reward it unfolds it's richness in its tones and subtleties. They are awesome artists I have deep gratitude for what they contribute to my interior mind space. It's something that I know in isolation mostly. We all have unique reasons why they stroke the g spot spot of the mind and how so nicely. But if you are one of those regurgitating lumps that never give it the go bec as use "they depressing" it's all about depression radiohead is. It makes you feel dark.. bullshit it does it's the most rewarding and beautiful music to be found I this era of music history.. and the fact they are still strongly creative together and getting more intricate and subtly genius in their composing is not common to see at all. These men are finding their reason and the nature of mankind's conciousness in their collaborative talents. They give each other with love the freedom of self expression and the safe space to be lost to the surrender that real honest true music is born from. Never once being found to be giving boastful yap happy interviews. Never did their attitudes to fame and the bullshit change. They stayed true to their sound and they haven't ever been bound into contractual boundary that made stale their stylistic sound. Si they never obliged anyone with "more of that last shit" albums and got richer and more sonically honned instead. And they are seriously educated in musical theory also because they wasted nothing of themselves to rock and roll be. I could rant for sometime more but I should have stopped about a month ago.. radiohead is a good bad.. fulLsTop. It's like preaching of Jesus.. everyone has heard their name. So none of need to bash the heads of fools that don't seek what will free them the musical soul's salvation is but for an elect few it is heard to be said. Let Those who have ears, hear!..as for me.." I do!! and I do!. It's a sacred act..a it's mine alone but you can yours and that's what we want it to be like or it's not a thing worth anything. Radiohead and specific human type human is a symbiosis. Rare to knowledge of the entire collective but essential and necessary for the future of the whole planet. Be sure bout that tho hey!. 🤣🤣. 🤫🤐 I need money less than what they contribute to my life.
So true. I started listening to their albums when I was a young teen. There are so many songs that dig deeper into me as I age and relisten to them
My favourite, without any doubt. That's pure refinement.
Sometimes hearing this song is the equivalent of getting the most comforting hug after going through something tough alone
The Basement doesn't need to make this song better than the album versions like most of these, it's already flawless. Pyramid Song's long lost brother.
Nicely put. So accurate
Wow indeed so accurate. Thanks for bridging that connection in my head forever.
Isn’t it just perfect??? Pyramid Song is so very special. I am sooo happy they played it when they were here in 2018
This album is what I listen to as my husband died from cancer. This song got me through the pain and helped me heal my soul.
💜💜💜
Sorry and what an amazing song it is
💙💙💙💙
Peace and love to your hurting heart
I am sorry for your loss… Best wishes!
This song is medicine for the soul after a long day.
SAME
My thoughts exactly.
Indeed. Radiohead are extremely therapeutic.
And, now for my shift change with my fellow coding cyber geek👨🏽💻
Yes
That trumpet. The depth. The pure emotion. No one else could create anything like this. He truly is a genius.
The first time I heard this song I was in the gym with my headphones on. I had to stop exercising as I genuinely had a tear in my eye because of how beautiful it was. What a stunning piece of music from true masters of their craft.
Agreed
Music affects me like this too
Same. Had to stop in the middle of a set and hide so no one could see. Crushed.
Slight of hand
Jump off the end
Into a clear lake
No one around
Just dragonflies
Fantasize
No one gets hurt
You've done nothing wrong
Slide your hand
Jump off the end
The water's clear
And innocent
The water's clear
And innocent
Beautiful
Mikail Pradipta so beautiful 🥺💖
*sleight
*flying to the side (not fantasize)
I always thought it was 'the waters clear, and it is safe'!
No one can replicate the feelings Radiohead creates with their music, and that's what makes them amazing.
It's a joke how some people compare Muse to Radiohead. That's like comparing Cardi B to The Beatles.
Pink Floyd and Tool for sure but the three bands are untouchable
One of the best songs ever. clear, emotional and perfect.
Vero vero!!!
Exactly! The most beautiful and touchy. Never ever get bored of it, It's like a meditation.
@@nickaglyc i feel the same
@@nickaglyc so true.
I love the "From the Basement" sessions! I wish A Moon Shaped Pool got a similar treatment :) I am still holding out hope :)
This song is one of my all time favorite from them. It’s like when you’re halfway down the water and realize that it’s too dark to see the bottom (or to deep) and you feel afraid, but the moment you enter the water and open your eyes, you see how beautiful it is... at the very bottom of everything.
I love how Ed did alomst nothing, just standing there beautifuly
slight of hand as alwaysssssssssEd
i feel bad for him, he only gets to watch lol
@@ibnufasya6408 Don't feel bad ... he also gets to 'listen!'
He does so much usually that he needed a break
Don't feel bad... he gets paid
This song is the seconds of floating before you jump into the void.
The horns get me every time.....
I cry
this is radioheads MOST underrated song and albums. it's a masterpiece of music.
Oh rubbish, not it's not
I can never get enough of *Radiohead*
Greenwood. Always up to some sorcery in the background.
Also, this song made the Westworld Season 2 finale SO MUCH better. Straight up goosebumps.
This song transcend this reality, it's like it was being played on the edge of the universe and resonated through every fiber of space and time.
I know it maybe exagerated, but I feel in touch with my dead relatives when I listen to it, 'couse it seems to breach the veil of death
You ain’t wrong ✌🏻❤️
It does :) that's called ART
You’re not alone, feel the same with this song
Jesus Christ, this song touched the depths of my soul. what a beautiful thing.
Why can't I ever meet a beautiful woman that loves Radiohead...and me...in real life? ;)
The trumpet adds such a great touch to this.
Radiohead has a way to get to your soul like no other band can. Their craft is a whole different level. In a nutshell, this guys are mad geniuses. Thank you for your work!
For me, this is one of the most beautiful songs there is.
Absolutely agree hauntingly beatiful
Sounds even better than the album. Absolutely stunning performance.
Thom's vocals here.... oh my God
Why people don't appreciate this album. It's masterpiece as other albums in his discography
Many do, but of course nothing pleases all "people" all the time
well it's a pretty deep album and none of the songs are catchy, and most normies want something they can "dance to",one of the main reasons Kid A is hated by many people is this, eventhough it's the greatest album of all time
I think the studio version doesn’t do the music justice. This whole performance from the basement is so much better.
@@fruitsy3020 rather fell short of expectations
I agree 100% with you !!!
Bonjour de France les amis ✌😉👍🇫🇷
So beautiful. How grand it must feel to be able to play something like this, with people this good.
This song is for the human being; because it has universal effect on everybody regardless of nation, culture...Greeting from Azerbaijan 💙❤💚
This is baptism.
I like how everyone is chattering until Thom plays the first few notes, a pin drop silence appears and everyone just knows what to do.
Musically brilliant, lyrically genius, total perfection.
Breathtakingly beautiful
My grandpa died yesterday. This song always takes me back to the old summer days when, as a little kid I used to eat tomatoes he grew in the garden. Mentally, he was long gone before death but I'm very grateful for any memory I have. My childhood was perfect, almost like from a fairytale, so why does this song always make me want to cry? Maybe it's because I know none of this will never come back.
One of my all-time favourites. Not many songs that pull at my heartstrings as strong as this one. Thank you Radiohead.
This song has been on repeat in my head for the last two weeks I come here when I'm down or depressed and somehow it's melodies like these that heal my soul🎼❤️ for the love of music 🎶
3:10 full body chills
Such a beautiful song and performance. Not many bands can do what they do.
These two from the basement recordings are the absolute pinnacle of Radiohead in my opinion.
My favorite song 😭😭😭🖤
Excellent taste.
Mine too. Also Nude off In Rainbows.
Me too
This is the best song in The King of Limbs album by far.
I just started listening to Radiohead. I hadn’t listen anything else than “creep” and “karma police”, but I sincerely can say that... this song entered to my heart and also the full album 🔥 aguante Radiohead
Enjoy the ride.
Once you start getting to know everything after OK Computer Creep will be pretty buried down the list!
A Moon Shaped Pool From the Basement!
the basement reditions of TKoL really made me realise what a genius album it really is and it now (for me) sits head n shoulders above all the others.
for me nothing gets close to this vision of perfection.
When those horns cone in it is beyond beautiful but it is then left alone you do t hear them again, other bands would have milked something so beautiful and used it over and over but radiohead just use them once and that's it. Magnificent.
Eternal
WestWorld! When this song came on I about lost it.
@@saulg00dman_ You mean apart from being an excellent show?
Thom and Johnny transmitting human love, despair, hope and joy ...to the universe ❤️
The respect I have for this band

Take care of you guys ! Stay healty !
Bonjour de France les amis ✌😉👍🇫🇷
Malaysia too🇲🇾
I fell in love with a broken heart after 5 years of leaving my true self behind to protect my family. Radiohead I owe you love
I loved how this song appeared in the end of Prisoners. Made the movie so much more special to me.
My only wish is that it had carried on into the credits instead of just cutting off when he turned the radio off. Like, I know it was supposed to be diegetic and all but it would have been a perfect credits song
Mr Flibble so true!!
Sooo right
Absolutely. Great film and when this came on, it really made me love it even more...
Hell Yeah! Made that scene so much better, just added this emotional weight that made the scene feel intimate.
This may be my favorite Radiohead song.
How can anyone not like this?
One of their most Melancholy Tracks..
i don't really see this as a sad song, just peaceful - a lot of emotion attached to it though. beautiful song
Radiohead is melancholy incarnate, so are you saying this is there most radiohead song? Hehe
I'm glad they were able to make this for us under such a time constraint
Codex does the same for me as what in rainbows nude, hail to the thiefs sail to the moon, amnesiacs pyramid song, kid a's how to dissapear completely, ok computers exit song and the bend's bulletproof does for me. Pure and simple. They take me to that place! If u know u know!
The power of an incredible chord progression and backing harmonies with a simple rhythm
I listen to the last three songs on this album constantly. It's one of the greatest single moments in rock'n'roll.
Just came across this comment. I am so glad to hear someone else who gets it - those last 3 songs are a trilogy, they fit together perfectly.
Ditto.
Yup
@@benjaminmorton9436similar to the last 3 tracks on Tomorrows Modern Boxes, they’re just one long piece of music
This is the most underated song in history, even if it is much loved by radiohead fans
I’ve listened to Neil young pink Floyd Bob Dylan Lou reed all my life (61) but Radiohead takes me to a whole new place..thank you Thom and co.
Everybody hates on King of Limbs but nobody hates on Codex
This song is pure tranquility
it’s been one of those nights.
When king of limbs came out, this was the first song I was drawn to. I’ve come to appreciate the whole album. But this song was instantly a soul punch. Haven’t heard it in a bit, and no less of a blow tonight.
the shaking of my speaker with a buzz sound for the gain always give me chillzz❤
When archaeologists find this song, it will justify our entire culture. All of our flaws will be forgiven.

Radiohead is the best band of all time and this prove
AMAZING!!!😮
Perfection
I’ve just got something in my eye love.
the natural light on Thom's piano a 3:22 makes the song whole
My fav song from TKOL. 😭 ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ La amo! 🙌🏻
If this song isn’t played at my funeral I’m not coming!
Absolute masterpiece! Thom is undeniably a musical genius! And the rest but Thom is the heart of Radiohead. He'd never say or admit that though but he is!
genius
Hauntingly beautiful. A companion piece to "Pyramid Song" as someone else said. To me this song is unquestionably about suicide, partly because I lost a parent to suicide (and that's a filter I see things through) and because of two lines -- "fantasize no one gets hurt, you've done nothing wrong"), -- which encapsulate the magical thinking that no one else will be damaged.
They’re in a basement guys
so am i
i need a basement
so beautiful that tears flowed from my eyes! Thanks so much for this!
still brilliant , in every way possible
The Most Beautiful Song Ive Ever Heard,Since I Was 15 And Now Im 27,Its Really,Really Beautiful
Is Thom really saying that he was "afraid" of performing this song? Probably not sure if it would work ... but it did, it absolutely did!
One of my absolute favorite RH songs. Got me through some hard times 6-7 years ago.
Hardly a day goes by without feeling the unending echo of this emotion
still the most beautiful song i ever heard. masterful performance from radiohead as always./
Absolute Genius.
i've listened to this so much that i even know how the flute warm up goes
this song brings me peace. hard to explain yet easy to get lost in it.
What an amazing performance and song! One of my favorites!
Such extraordinary sounds should not be allowed to exist
