    Having green firewood is good to have two seasons in advance for preparedness too. It’s always good to have a buffer for many reasons, even if it’s as simple as whoever handles the wood has an injury one year. Always great to have peace of mind and a cushion. Just Say’n 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸

    Happy Birthday Sarah! I will say that I have seen people discount a face cord by $10-20 and just promote it throughout the year and say it is only available until the end of May. Splitting right into the trailer saves the tote hassle, plus loading of it in the fall (an extra 20-30 mins faffing around) plus, it saves having a massive rush in the fall. All around, it makes sense as long as you are getting fairly close to the same price.

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  2 месяца назад

      Yep lots of benefits to selling green. My customers are paying about $50 less per facecord buying the wood green.

    Hey Jake, I only sell bundles and loose stacks. Originally it was only stacks but now I’ve altered my stand because 90% of my sales are bundles. Winter is a bit slow but things are starting to pick up. When the nicer weather arrives I’ll be busy.

    One of many debates re firewood sales: same or less money for green firewood. Some argue it take the same amount of effort so same price as seasoned firewood. BUT, no time involved stacking it, especially if you load it directly to be sold= less touching. Thank you for letting us know your stance, keep cuttin'!

    There's a 50 site campground on my road and over 100 lakefront vacation rental houses in this town, most with outdoor firepits. My busy season for bundled firewood is Memorial Day to Columbus day with July and August being the busiest months. I don't bother stocking the roadside stand the rest of the year and I don't sell wood by the cord. I buy 20 cords of green wood for $265/cord, let it dry for a year and bundle it. One cord makes $1,350 of bundles.

    Hey Jake - you can actually touch that bird nest and the mother will NOT abandon it! Most birds (vultures are an exemption, for example) don't have a sense of smell. We biologists tell people the white lie that they shouldn't touch nests, baby animals, etc. because the mom will abandin them in order to keep people from messing with them. Even animals that have a sense of smell (like deer) aren't going to abandon their babies if they smell human scent on them.
