I own a 67 Yamaha fg-180 probably the best guitar ever. It’s needed lots of work to get there refret, neck reset, some internal braces installed that were missing. Guitar ready for 50 more years.
I've had a Yamaha FS850 (all mahogany, slightly smaller body compared to FG) for 2 years now and it sounds beautiful and looks very nice. Its great for fingerpicking and smaller size body makes it more comfortable. The video does not do it justice. It really looks and sound better in real life.

Yamaha originally made musical instruments - hence why their corporate logo is three crossed tuning forks! The bikes etc came later but kept the original logo! If memory serves they started as piano makers and diversified into other instruments, their brass wind instruments are very high quality, my daughter wanted one of their flutes but I couldn't afford it as it was over £500, but a beautiful tone, not for grade 3 though!
I’ve always used Alvarez guitars up until now. They’re really great guitars, I always get mahogany, I just love the sound of it. To me it gets more bass tone which is nice for my playing style. I really love that all mahogany one, going back to figure out which one it is specifically.was a bit too caught up listening to that beautiful guitar. They’re all amazing, I wasn’t quite as fond of the maple one though, it was still amazing but the mahogany definitely was better. This is the only other brand I’d buy besides an Alvarez. I bought the FS800T after watching this video. Excellent guitar and sounds better every year. I also bought the FS830 Tobacco Sunburst. The FS830's sound quality has never improved with age, but the FS800 gets better every year.
@@drew5191 It depends on the type of music you play. FG800 is a large size guitar (dreadnought), which produces big sound with a lot of bass sound. FS800 is a small bodied guitar, which produces more mid-range and high end tones, but not as much bass sound as the FG800. lawrobi FS800 is brighter but no bass. FG800 has a bigger sound and has more bass. I have the FGX800C its the acoustic electric version of the G800 so if you want it brighter like the S800 you can adjust it with the equalizer on your amp.
I just got a 12 dreadnought guitar for ...wait for it ....under £200! eBay. So now a National and a mixed hybrid guitar are in my sights. Then an electro-acoustic nylon and lapsteel. And then I may have the basic guitars I want for recording. Fine playing gents.
Hey I am beginner, want to buy a acoustic guitar , either fg820 or fs820, and i love finger style mostly. Please suggest me which should I buy. Thanks for making such this kind of video!
I'll go for a FS850, beautiful balanced tone across the range for fingerstyle. I also play classical pieces on this as well, and its divine. However, the FS850 being all mahogany is more expensive. It looks fantastic and the finish is superb. As the FS models has a smaller body, it will be more comfortable than the FG's.
The FG140 came out at the same time as the FG180 and was slightly cheaper.I know 'cause I bought one in '68.Cost me £25! And made in Japan in those days. But the neck/string spacing was so narrow. And that's always been the problem for me with Yammy acoustics. I wouldn't buy one now for that very reason.

Hey, they're cheap and sound good. Thank you for another groovy demo.
That was much better than if I'd have done it Pete. Top job fellas. ;-)
YAMAHA is a leading musical instrument manufacturer with there great line of grand pianos , classical guitars as well. Get ready to spend $18000 USD for their best classical guitar.
Both guitars sound excellent. A little different but each has its own voice. Nice Guitars.
Fs820 vs fgx800c ? Played Les Paul’s (and one strat lol) all my life… im looking for an acoustic to just noddle around on the sofa… guy I know has both for sale used… being an electric player, I don’t have much experience with acoustics lol… never liked how high the action is on acoustics, not sure how easy it is to have them setup… anyway for me whats prob the better choice? I’ll sit around and noodle 90’s rock on the sofa on standard tuning along with drop d… help :)
I'm in kind of a crysis. Yamaha FS 800T, the Ibanez AC 240 or the Epiphone Texan. Help pleeease!
Thank you for the answer, but i actually ordered a Sigma OOOm-15, and i am waiting for delivery!
Thanks! :D
I got my 800 for Christmas and i love it
whats deal you got?
can you please recommend how & when to get best deal.
I think both Mick and Pete would really enjoy the Milk Carton Kids if they don't know of them already. Kenneth Pattengale's acoustic lead playing is intoxicating and their harmonization is on point!

Is there a difference between the FG800 and FS800 beside the size, in terms of sound, neck playability and nut width ? Which one would you recommend the most?
lawrobi FS800 is brighter but no bass. FG800 has a bigger sound and has more bass. I have the FGX800C its the acoustic electric version of the G800 so if you want it brighter like the S800 you can adjust it with the equalizer on your amp.
I play on stage, but love the fact these come without pickups. Let me choose my own.
"I prefer my guitars less blingy"......you play a metallic purple tele Pete haha.
I just got a 12 dreadnought guitar for ...wait for it ....under £200! eBay. So now a National and a mixed hybrid guitar are in my sights. Then an electro-acoustic nylon and lapsteel. And then I may have the basic guitars I want for recording. Fine playing gents.
Thanks for the review and demo's , order a Fs-800 , just need a knock about acoustic for the bar gigs.
Good job boys, good job! Especially the jam from 18:35
You know which chord this was? Is this based on a song?
Hey I am beginner, want to buy a acoustic guitar , either fg820 or fs820, and i love finger style mostly. Please suggest me which should I buy. Thanks for making such this kind of video!
Go for fs820
I'll go for a FS850, beautiful balanced tone across the range for fingerstyle. I also play classical pieces on this as well, and its divine. However, the FS850 being all mahogany is more expensive. It looks fantastic and the finish is superb. As the FS models has a smaller body, it will be more comfortable than the FG's.
These 2 guys Mick and Pete were magic together, very entertaining! What happened to Mick?
Look for the "That Pedal Show" channel.
I just sold my old FG-180 and will buy the new FS-830 in vintage tint, soon.
Nice chemical connection on both of them. Excellent guitar players as all that watch this informative show. Love it eventough idk where Andertons is located. Greetings from America
"Massage in a Brothel!"
It burns!
I can't decide between the Yamaha FG800/FS800 and the Ibanez AC240 OPN, in my country they cost the same. Any advice please?
FG800 most versatile. FS is a bit thin when you take it next to a bigger body thus better for traveler, finger pick. No experience with the Ibanez.
Need to look at the levels of the sparkly new lapel mics a bit low there guys in comparison to the guitar mics . And the placement on Mick's as mostly talking in direction to Pete better on the left side. Great vid though both in entertainment and info ... and of course .... shirts!!
What color is the darker guitar
