Nice tips on using both type of paint repairs. I found the top from bottled water great to hold the drops of paint like your blue cup. Use and toss it!
I have been detailing for a while and from watching your videos✊ I have gained so much knowledge and it’s made me a way better and faster. The class will definitely be a great place for people to come and get that knowledgeable information you offer. I would come and help out if you would like the help. You have a playlist of very valuable videos✊Hands on is the best way to get going.
Sounds weird but I’ve used a syringe with hypodermic needle blunt tip to apply touch up paint to small chips. I’ve found it gives great control over how much paint to apply and paint doesn’t dry out inside the syringe.
Super helpful, and for me very timely. I have 10 years of rock chips to attack and I wanted to do it the right way with real paint, thanks for showing your technique.
Excellent information! I'm buying that paint tool. Never seen that before. Ive used laquer thinner to level off touch up paint that's too high after its hardened. It has worked well for me. Thank you for all your help!
Good to know. My vehicle have about 4 pin size specks I would like to fix. Even though they are tiny, is annoying for me. So I’m going to fix that with this new knowledge. 😉👍
Hey bro whenever you have a run or paint pile up for a chip back scrape it with a razor blade a brand new one don't cut it off just tilt the razor blade and scrape it until it feathers into the paint then wetsand and buff
I bought a color Dr color chip I have plenty of paint I've got paint on my left quarter panel a tailgate but I spilled my sealant do you have any thing I could put together to similar to the sealant sealant thanks it Mike Gordon Gordon from Oxford Ms tks again for all your amazing videos
Brian question. There's this guy that goes by the name on RUclips. Sweet projects that's suppose to be into detailing. He's trying to push using mother's metal polish to compound and shine your car. What's your opinion on that idea sir.
Ok, so I watched the video. I saw u use both touch up methods. 1st , u didn't let us know how both worked out. 2nd, u didn't say which 1 worked better. 3rd, u didn't analyze either of them. 4th, u didn't give recommendation of which method to use. Your video is labeled with the 2 methods, but yet u covered several different subjects without directly answering the label of the video.
Another excellent video Brian! You always show us great content. I need to pick up some of those chip repair tools and use the techniques you taught us! Thank you!
In my much younger days as a mechanic in the eighties I always used the brush in paint touch up (yes it looked horrible). Then a paint correction specialist that used to come to our shop showed me how to use tooth picks to apply the paint. They are cheap and disposable, he also used acetone as a cleaner before applying the paint. Any thoughts on that? I don't have the steady hands to do a good job anymore, it's more about preventing corrosion setting in.
Hi Brian. Do you have a recommendation for removing polish from plastic and rubber trim? Truck is sealed up up now with Artdeshine ceramic metal oxide now but I ended up with a bit of polish on my trim. Thanks for your help and all your hard work. Love this channel.
I have a 2011 GMC pickup when I bought it I can only assume they put a spray wax or cleaner or something on the truck and it's stuck and I cannot wash it off I was going to ask what can I use to remove that if you could help please thank you
Yes. They sell clear coat pens in auto stores. They would also work well. Let it dry before you critic how well it worked. Ive used a few brands. All worked. Here is one; www.walmart.com/ip/Turtle-Wax-Scratch-Repair-Pen/16888947
@@pjfan173 if you are sure you don't need to dab paint go right to dabbing on clear. This video is excellent. The paper end of a single paper match works well too to dab paint. Dont use the brush in touch up pant bottles. If doing only clear Id try to dab your clear & see how it looks dried before deciding if need to wet sand. I rarely have to wet sand my chips. I like laquer thinner as my first step to level my repair if its too high. Make sure ots hard.Small amount on a clean rag or soft paper towel. Very lightly go over it in 1 direction. If you remove too much just re-do your chip. Brian's video should supercede my advice. Im an amateur but I do a fair amount of paint chips.
Can you use Langka blob eliminator on a metallic paint? I was going to order some, but read somewhere that it might not mix well with metallics, because it does something with the the metallic flakes.
Was curious if you have a preference on towel company? I tried to see if you have the previous video about this but I didn't see one, nor believe I heard you discuss or mention anything about towel company.
Hey Bryan do you think I can do close to the same process as the OEM process with a paint pen? Fill the valley with the pen and proceed as you explained? Thank you
hi Brian. when in the process of installing a ceramic coating would you use Dr. color chip? before or after the polishing? Also how long do you need to let the doctor color chip repair setup before laying down the ceramic coating??
Can you please tell me if the artdeshine metal oxide coating can get water spot stains on it? Also will the maintenance coat ontop help water spot stains %100 or it won't? Also I'm thinking of maybe using this since it will darken black car even more also giving me high gloss also more durable rather than example gyeon mohs
Hi Brian, great info you have here! I ceramic coated my car myself 2 weeks ago and noticed some high spots on the ppf. What can I do to remove it? Thanks!
Hi.. I would like to know how i can increase 10 points in gloss to my paint?.. My car color is beige or golden what ever color is. Thank you. Have a bless day
Hey Brian, what would you recommend for a paint sealant that is durable and sheets well? I recently began leasing a car and don't want to spring for a full blown ceramic coating. Also water is extremely hard here and it rains a lot so I don't really want to deal with water spotting issues.
I'd recommend Collinite 845 or Collinite 476. Here are the pros and cons of each: Collinite 476: -Durability = 6 months -Harder to apply and remove (requires more elbow grease) -less shiny than 845 -30% more expensive than 845 Collinite 845: -Durability = 3 months -Easy to apply and remove -more shiny than 476 because it contains fillers that help hide the microswirls in the paint -inexpensive
I’ve bought several kits for several cars and have good manual skills. I’ve never failed to be disappointed. Product smears poorly. ‘Cleans up’ poorly. Fills chip poorly. You are better to use other products and methods. Ask someone who’s tried it or spend the money and find out for yourself. The paint is ok, it just doesn’t apply as easily as the video and look as good as other touch up methods.
I used colorchip to fix a rock chip on the hood of my car with mixed results ... while the product is good and works as advertised, the color did not match perfectly to my car. I have a metallic silver BMW X3 and the colorchip color is darker, so I can see the spot of the repair. I shook the bottle to no end to get the colors to mix, applied a couple of coats, and nothing. So bottomline, if you car is a simple color like black, or red, colorchip will work really well. If you have a complicated color, probably not so much. Also don't get the Dr. colorchip sqeegee... it does not work. Use your finger with the glove.
Just get a paint pen from your dealer. It's way better than this crap. I tried this over many days, and it just looks like garbage. Even my wife was like, did you even apply it? I was like, I'm on my 10th coat.

Oh yeah! That sounds much easier than using a tiny brush like I first started out using. Now I’ve been using a sharp wooden toothpick.
Super helpful, and for me very timely. I have 10 years of rock chips to attack and I wanted to do it the right way with real paint, thanks for showing your technique.

Going to use Dr. Color Chip. What's the best method for removing LVR 357 Magnum wax.
On the topic of stacking, do not use angelwax aio followed up by tc ceramic detailer on a black car unless you want to rewash the car
Great video, could I use the small gold pen with Dr ColorChip base color? Thank you
I'd be interested in a trip to PA.
Can I use acetone or thinner to clean chipped area vs. alcohol
If at all possible would like your advice on what polisher should I start out with as a beginner and advance to for detailing.
Great information Brian. thank you.
How do you think Dr. Colorchip compare to the OEM paint? Is it good for metallic paint?
I have a 2011 GMC pickup when I bought it I can only assume they put a spray wax or cleaner or something on the truck and it's stuck and I cannot wash it off I was going to ask what can I use to remove that if you could help please thank you

Thumbs down for every so called detailer that never shows final results
First!😎
OK! So let the stone chips there or repaint the panel! So much effort for nearly nothing good.
