I feel like air max won't go back to running and will stay as lifestyle at this point because it feels like Nike moved past Air for running models. I COULD BE 100% WRONG, but that's what I feel like
“Air max” as a brand will not be associated with running, you are right. Nike still uses air (successfully) in their runners, but not using the air MAX branding. Still got air in the Pegasus, in the alpha fly, in the vomero, etc. Either air max bubbles or zoom air units

Pg 4’s are really tight fit, so maybe you’ll feel them good not loose at all, i got a whole size bigger bc they’re really reduced

Man I used to love air max performance range with the full 360 unit. Air max 2017 were some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve owned

I love these for their simple silhouette and futuristic details. Wore them for over 10k steps yesterday and definitely comfy but today I realize my big toe nails hurt so the fw lean is real. Maybe better for days when you’re not walking a huge amount.
The. height "boost" demo at the end should be a regular part of reviews, especially for Basketball shoes. 😁

I appreciate Jodi talking about width versus length...for us wide footers length is always an issue because shoes don't always flex under the ball of the foot right when you have a lot of extra length to accommodate a wider foot. So...thanks! 😍👍
I agree, plus any situated arch support hits your foot in the wrong place which can actually injure you!
Hey Chris. Just tried these on yesterday, and the heel cushioning was a big let down. The fore foot was extremely responsive, but I never felt that heel air bag at all. So glad I went to the shop to try on first.

Aesthetic on these are...super funky! Kinda weird I basically stopped going with Air Max back in 2017, its only Air MaX thRee/Air Max 90 and Vapormax from hear on out.

i've been waiting on this particular review for a minute. i've wavered this past week in the Nike app trying to decide whether or not to cop. Since it's a lifestyle shoe and you didn't totally trash it, i may still give it a shot. Comfort-wiseI didn't mind the 2090s. Thanks as always for the insight and the fire content!

Ugh… man the 90s air Max’s are so great. The space age crap they’re pushing just looks terrible. But they do look comfortable

These were on my radar once I saw some preview images last month. Definitely a sneaker I want to try on at the store first but very interesting none the less.
I really enjoy how I'm just budgeting my salary and WearTesters upload another vid. And the shoes they review ends up being a part of my budget expenses. Wew, classic.
The air unit itself doesn’t look bad but the cage looks funky.
The shoe looks intriguing only because of the way the air unit is made and structured. I’m not a fan of the weird drop as well….I get that with the React 270. Also on a personal level wish there was forefoot air…especially since this is the flagship.
As a big fan of Air Maxes I was like WTF are these? The silhouette was looking trash to me till you showed the on foot look with the laces loose and I was like Hmmmmmm, now I can rock with these. I like that big ass air bubble in the back. I just wish they added some lines or something to the side of that midsole. Looks too plain for a Air Max. A bit dull and boring for my taste but interested to see what other colors drop. Now after seeing these and noticing how Nike been "Remastering" their retros lately with the "OG" style. I feel like we'll eventually get big air bubbles back in Air Max retro's again.
Side Note: Yo Night Wing. Those Penny 2's are still fresh man. You just need to reglue that bottom sole and they're wearable again. It hurts my heart to see them looking like that...lmao!!! Keep dropping those videos. You're the best shoe reviewer on RUclips, I been rocking with you for years. Really appreciate all the tech knowledge you're always schooling us on. Once again, sounds like Nike drops the ball in terms of functional tooling...same as Nike Air Max React 270: sneaker looked dope, but the transition from heel to toe was awkward at best. Having two different densities of material between the forefoot and backfoot is clearly not a good idea.
I agree. I was so looking forward to the React 270's, but 1) I felt like I was walking off a curb mid-foot and 2) they were SO tight, I couldn't even fit with 2 sizes up. There's sock-fit and then there's a medieval foot-girdle.
I like the 2090's WAAAAAAY better than these. I'm really not feeling the aesthetics of these ones right here. 2090's looked like an airmax sneaker, these just look like a generic nike shoe with a weird bubble midsole.
Facts, if I saw these without knowing the name I would have never guessed these are an airmax. But regardless I'm not a huge fan of the looks but I love the 2090 design.

This has the same problem as the air max 270 react. The heel to toe transition isnt smooth because of the air unit at heel and a softer foam material at toe
I agree…the more leveled the heel to toe drop the better! I don’t want to feel like I’m wearing high heels!

Hammer toes... damn lots of cool looking nikes have that angle and you don't feel it until it's too late. I bought my wife and I some 720's a while back and we decided to rock them at Disneyland for the first time. Big mistake!! My toes were actually bleeding by the end of the day there . I love collecting sneakers but I can honestly say that was the only sneaker I returned. Sucks !!! I completely agree with you man. And the air penny 2 is a top 3 sneaker for me. Keep up the good content, much appreciated.
I've got 2090's on layby at footlocker, can't pick them up because of lockdown here in Sydney.
For me, these look way better than the 2090’s - got a pair but they are some big trainer…
The forward lean is real! But!....a very comfortable shoe. I love them

I think the main issue it could get is accumulation of dirt since it's an open structure. Too much worry for a simple shoe. They could just had covered it up completely and made a see-thru but thin plastic to make it collapsible. It's plain gimicky by Nike.
Once the right colurway drops for men I think these will be 🔥, I remember hating 270s on first site till the triple black dropped
i like thicker heel cause it will still feel good after walking / running for a year

At least means it’s definitely that much but maybe more... so it’s definitely 20 percent recycled but could be a higher percentage
Which is why I'm gonna stick to 2090, as it's as comfortable and passes for a beautiful design and good looking shoe. Win win

Yes. 2090 is good after 270.. 720 not that great in my opinion. Recently there is 1 air max Flyknit racer which is really comfortable in my opinion.
Max airs had some great designs back in the day.
I have a hunch my daughter will like these. One day she will understand the power of the Air Max 3 :)
I learned the toe drop effect wth the AirMax 270 React I wear those from my house, to the car and unto another house and back. Never walking long range in them.

I don't like the shoe. I like the big fat air bubble with that line in the middle that connects the 2 pieces of air bubble. And my question is, if they can make a big fat air bubble like that with the connecting line in the middle why they don't put it in the retro nike air max, bball and runners?

I thought in the old mid 90s air max 2 days that the 2 chambers were separate with different air pressure? The inner chamber was 5 psi and the outer was 25 psi for greater multi-directional stability, whereas the runners had the 5 psi chamber extended through the back/lateral so as to guide the foot through the stride - or did I dream all of that? 😂

Thank you for reviewing these. Was on the fence from the pictures but seeing these on foot and in action have sold me. I'm just waiting to see more colorways.

Despite all the variety and advances in technology & materials over each new Air Max release...i still can't bring myself to buy the latest one when I can spend that money on a Air Max 1 or the 90, 95, 97, 98
Just ordered these in green but kind of bummed before I got a pair of 270’s last year and didn’t like the feel so I returned them. Hoping this isn’t as bad and feels better. Maybe would just have to wear for a while.
I like these quite a bit. Similar to the PreDay’s. Would have liked a Phillips head on the outsole vs the flathead. Ha

Time for an episode for those with high arches/insteps. So many shoes are simply too tight on the instep nowadays
This is a hit and miss for me. Sure, the tech and materials are cool and look comfortable, but they look a bit too exaggerated. I’d say my limit is at the AM720s. There’s something about that futuristic design that hits home for me.
Can you say these are more comfortable than the Nike Zoom X, in terms of cushion?

All the recentish air maxs/huaraches bar the 95 neons have hit the outlets over here, even the infrared 90s. Will pick up another pair of BWs when they are $50-70! My faves are the 180s was hoping Nike would release a few this year for the 30th anni.

I feel like the air unit is kinda like the 270 air unit and the 2090 is trying to copy the 270 react. The bubble doesn't add much to the comfort compared to previous air max shoes :/

After viewing this, I wound up copping a pair of 2090’s off Jodi’s testimony lol. Plus I was able to get them for $80! Loved, loved, loved your breakdown on these, though. Maybe I’ll cop ‘em if/when they hit the outlets.
What happened to having a pair of trainers that you do anything in not one for walking one for running one for going to the bathroom etc.

I thought the pre days were the air max for this year. Either way not really feeling these but I love my pre days so much.
They made them look like the reacts with a bubble so you dont like them and pay for the VAPORMAX or VAPORMAX PLUS... My still go to is the Pegasus turbo nothing beats that zoom foam..
