I wouldn't use a screwdriver for punching those holes. It knocks out a bigger patch at the back and weakens the hole. Drill it gently instead.

Hi, interested in your remark on using rosette (or is it rosette?) fittings for rads.... can you advise which one is good for rad brackets into plasterboard, thanks!

@@nicam49 hi mate I’ve only seen 2 sizes one is for single and the other for double plaster board usually blue or red in colour and about 50mm in length👍 I get them from a local hardware store but I’m sure I’ve seen them in b&q🤘

Have you ever installed the brackets level and the rad is not because the rear rad brackets haven't been welded level? Would you adjust the brackets on the wall to suit or leave it like that?

Brilliant. You made that look a piece of cake. Thanks for sharing the tip of using expanding foam to make it that little bit stronger. I’ll definitely be doing that. Love it. What do you think of gripit plasterboard fixings and have you ever used them? Thanks Derek 👍🏻 Much appreciated.

I remember back when I was learning the trade working with a guy who would always put his TRV’s on horizontally instead of vertically to get the head further away from the side of the rad. Out working with another guy in the same firm and I’m putting the valves on horizontally and I get “what the f*** are you doing?” 😜

I like the idea the foam using, but pig tale is a no no,
Because every houses I go to the tenants that there radiator has come off the wall and the fixing is pig tale fixing, so I replace with anchor bolts and no one reported it has come off the wall.
Pig tale fixings are suitable for light weight fittings not radiators such as lights, switches, etc.
    Thank Derek

Always put some tape on. Couple yrs down line they'll leak. Had to put some tape on leaking ones so many times. The rubber o ring eventually goes

What size Philips screwdriver do i need for Poking the hole through the plasterboard Derek? No2 or No3, and what Brand expanding foam are you using? looks like good strong stuff.

    • @andrewmillwardwatford9410

      A pz2 is ideal. A pz2 leaves to big a hole. If you don't have a pz2 a pH 2 works just as well.

Crap fixing get a pattress in wall if you do use them drill board so you have more strength instead of bursting the back of the board, ok for hanging a mirror.

I personally think that it is best to use a stud finder to locate the battens and possibly screw the brackets in the wood or metal frame. If you're building the wall to install a radiator there must be communication between plumber and carpenter or if you're doing everything yourself there must be common sense. Of course if you are moving the radiator where it was not planned to fit one then I would follow the tips

Everything was going so well until the Pig Tail fixings come out!! Hope nobody sits on that radiator or a kid climbs up on it!! Wham!! It’s on the floor & water everywhere😂😂😂
At the very least, use Brolly fixings in Plasterboard & only then if you can’t get one bracket on a stud!!
