  • A gas turbine, also called a combustion turbine, is a type of internal combustion engine. It has an upstream rotating compressor coupled to a downstream turbine, and a combustion chamber or area, called a combustor, in between.

The verbal descriptions are incredibly good and simple. Statement of fact followed by conclusion, no babbling.

One of the best videos in this field, very extensive in details, well narrated, and useful to all.

This is an excellent tutorial, especially as I am just starting to study aircraft engineering after retiring from the military. Thank you for this.

I have just found this series of videos and my initial reaction is positive. However, the term 'compression ratio' applies to internal combustion engines and it is actually a volume ratio. The correct term for a gas turbine engine is 'pressure ratio'.

Compression ratio is the ratio of two volumes whereas the pressure ratio is the ratio of two pressures. Gas Turbine is also an Internal Combustion Engine.

Again excellent, it's great we have FADEC now. If I may, a small mistake at 12:00, the green line engine RPM should be 105, not 60%.

There is a lot of love in the design of one of these hair driers. Makes me feel very good in witnessing through these nicely produced RUclips Videos. Already I am in admiration those who find a way to study and work with such engine poetry. It almost feels like each working turbine is a laboratory in the study of air vapor under pressure and fluids.
