@@globalkiwis I'm now doing an MPhil in education at Cambridge. Homerton (my college) is not far from Hughes' Hall. I rowed for a bit too. It's all good fun. Looking forward to see what's next with you two. cheers. P.S. You two have gotten some of the best shots of cambridge.
This is great! I’ll be joining Cambridge for a Politics MPhil this October. So excited to see how involved grad students can be in student life, sport etc.
Yeah Hughes! As someone who graduated three days ago, and who also rowed for 3 years (and bouldered) at Cambridge, this is already a fantastically nostalgic vid!
@@globalkiwis hey, thanks so much! Lovely of you. I just recently got into making videos to preserve some of the memories of my final month in Cambridge - it's a hell of a lot of fun! Hoping to make some more vids soon! Also, shame we didn't! I know the Hughes Captain quite well and so loved how well you guys did in Bumps. Unfortunately I'm not in Cam until September/October again at earliest - I'm off to Bristol to start work very soon instead!
Hi! Nice video! Funny enough I will be starting the same course (MPhil MLMI) this October! It's nice to see we get our own study room in the Engineering Library :)
Unfortunately I probably won't be making a video about the degree, but you can see a lot of details about next year's course here (as you probably know) www.mlmi.eng.cam.ac.uk/ :)
Thanks for posting this video! I'll be joining Cambridge for an MPhil in a related field this October, and this is such a fascinating glimpse into MPhil life! I'm especially looking forward to trying out some rowing. How would you say your schedule would differ during the taught part of the course? Did you have any issues settling in? Also super random, but are you using an M1 Mac to run models? I heard that you have to do some weird set up to get some popular ml libraries working on the new Apple CPUs.
Thanks for your support! The workload was a bit different in the taught section because for the dissertation section you manage your own workload. The more work you put in the more you get out etc, but for the taught part you don't have as much control as you have exams, assignment deadlines etc. And no, not a Mac M1 so didn't have to deal with any of that!
this is lovely! did u get those top down views from a drone? i thought they were not allowed in cambridge - was really excited to use mine once i got there :(
Thanks Colin! I am working on 'Joint Learning of Practical Dialogue Systems and User Simulators'. If you want to see a simple demo of my project so far check out huggingface.co/spaces/alistairmcleay/cambridge-masters-project :)
Unfortunately not! A lot of Cambridge doesn't have bicycle lanes, and there are plenty of impatient drivers too! Thanks so much Visal, we're glad you enjoyed it :)
Hi Raguram! I did my undergrad in CS and Applied Physics, but it's fairly flexible. The main thing is having a strong background in statistics and math :)

Thanks for the comment Rory! I just subscribed to your channel :)
Sounds like its a shame we didn't cross paths! Are you in Cam over summer at all?

Could you make a video about MLMI in several aspects including modules and dissertation? I'm an incoming student for MLMI this coming year.
Unfortunately I probably won't be making a video about the degree, but you can see a lot of details about next year's course here (as you probably know) www.mlmi.eng.cam.ac.uk/ :)
Good luck though, it's a lot of fun!

Could you make a video about MLMI application? I plan to apply for it this year. Thx so much!
Thanks for the suggestion - will consider it! And good luck for your application!! :)

@@globalkiwis Thanks for sharing, I'm certainly not an expert on NLP or conversational agents, but it looks interesting. I hope you're enjoying it.
Could you make a video about the application of masters of Cambridge?
Like interview preparation or p.s
Thanks for the suggestion :)

Hello brother, I'm Raguram from Sri Lanka. What degree you need to apply for this program?
Hi Raguram! I did my undergrad in CS and Applied Physics, but it's fairly flexible. The main thing is having a strong background in statistics and math :)
Nice video! Keep it up :)
Thanks, will do!
