Do you need spacers? Please answer! I changed my wheels and kept the spacers now my wheels are sliding and squeaking. Without the spacers they don't. Do i need a different size spacer? Is that a thing?
maybe you don't know a thing about washers or maybe you forgot to mention there are 2 sides to them, one side is rough and one side is smooth and polished. for those wanting to 'not' destroy their bearings, it's best to put the polished shiny side towards the bearing and the unfinished side towards the truck.... you can thank me later. ~ kev.
If they don't come with washers is it necessary to install them? And if so what size should I use? I'm putting together my first pair of skates so this sort of information really helps!
@@ZoeInWonderland95 Even on skates that come with washers, they're not ABSOLUTELY needed. To use them or not is up to you. The size depends on your axles. Axles only come in two sizes...7mm or 8mm. Look at the bearings you have. You will see 608, 628, etc. or 607, 627, etc. That last number - the 7 or the 8 - is what denotes your axle size. If the number ends with 8, you have 8mm axles...likewise, if the last number is a 7, you have 7mm axles.
NEVER use the axle! 44 years of skating, I've seen that damage more bearings - AND the axles themselves - than screwdrivers. Also, if you're serious about skating (derby, artistic, or otherwise), you'll also have a bag with tools and some basic extras on hand at all times. Fanny packs and drawstring backpacks are great for holding items when skating outdoors. Regular backpacks or tote bags are easier for rink skating.
I just bought my first pair of skates this week. The first thing I did was find the right tools, adjust the wheels, trucks and stoppers, then put the tools straight into my skate bag.
thank you so much i am in derby and i just got new wheels but i dont have the push pull tool and i needed to get the barring out this helped me so much. thank you again
I could use your advice. I replaced the wheels and bearings with outdoor gummies but it seems now one side of the skates doesn’t have enough axel. Not even enough to use the nut & bolt down .
Omds this helped so much, just got some new Rio light up wheels and my bearings didn't go in easily, but now if I over tighten them it out the bearings in really easily, tyyyyy
i got some outdoor wheels for my skates and I was freaking out cuz the bearings came separately and I don't have a bones bearings tool but this video helped! thank you!
Hello! Is it necessary to put metal rings (washer??) between bearings and lock nuts? I realised that they are making a noise when driving. Maybe it would be better if they're made of rubber or something. Thanx!
Hello thank you for sharing. My bearing on the outer part of my wheel dose not fit snug like my old bearing that I replaced. So now I have no free spin?? If I loosen the nut it is to loose :/ Are all bearings the some size??
Gret video. Kinda curious why no bearing spacers? I get that the wheels have a flanged design for the bearing to stay seated against the wheel. But that nut is pressing only against the outer bearing and nothing else.
No spacers because wheels don't actually need bearing spacers. That's an individual choice. It has nothing to do with the nut, but some speed skaters swear they can go faster with the spacers than without them. When .002 seconds counts in a race...it's a good thing to have. If you're hitting the rink or your neighborhood, they're kind of useless and only gets you to spend money on things that aren't necessary. I'd much rather spend money on a complete set of spare axle lock nuts than 4 bearing spacers. As far as the nut pressing against the wheel, that would be washers - not bearing spacers - you'd need if you wanted something in between. Bearing spacers go between the bearings...not against the axle lock nuts.
You can put skateboard wheels on roller skates - and vice versa....just remember that some skateboards have a riser to allow bigger wheels, such as 70 or 80mm wheels. Most roller skates will only comfortably hold a 65mm or smaller wheel. A 70mm wheel will fit on some, but many have issues when it comes to turning if their trucks are loose because the plate of the skate will "scrape" the taller wheel.
A size 4 child's IS the same as an adult 4. It's once you hit size 5 that it begins to differ a bit as size 5's are considered the 'smallest adult" size, even though many children's shoes go up to a size 6. The main difference between a child 5 and adult 5 (or 6) is that children's feet are typically more narrow than an adult's foot.
hey does anybody know if I switch the wheels on kids roller skates to buy adult roller skates this if it will matter or do I need adult roller skate wheels for quads
There are some other channels that are good for cleaning bearings. But only the COLORED ones! The cheap all metal ones don't open, but almost no one mentioned that and I thought I was going crazy.
@@jodygirl I only recently started skating outside everyday and taking care of my wheels and bearings. I thought bearings were either metal or ceramic, with no clue about most common knowledge. Tbh I didn't know that the wheels had bearings that were sold separately until I wore my wheels down to the size of munchkins. I just got a set from eBay Cheap Skate Wheels and they have been the best thus far. The bearing cleaning vid on Indy jammy Jones channel is good, but I watched 4-5 vids and I only 1 mentioned that the solid metal bearings don't come apart. So much info I was unaware of.

Why there are no spacers between the bearings?
Both my skateboard and quad skates have the 'spacers' between the bearings...are they needed?
what kind of bearings do you recommend? and wouldn't you put in a middle piece between the bearings inside the wheels? or doesn't it matter at all?
I was also wondering about spacers.
Where are the bearing spacers
Thank you for the tutorial. I have the push/pull tool on order with new bearings, but i really couldnt wait to try the new wheels i got!
Thank you so much for the bit about removing the bearing with the axel. You saved my life with that.
What are the best bearings for speed
And roll...looking for new wheels and bearings...

Is the rough side going to “sand” wear down the axle? Mine look pretty worn
Great video. Looks like the links to products don’t work anymore.
Thank you for the close-ups and for the no tool method. Also for what to be careful with (e.g. denting bearing shield).
What are some good bearings to buy..... and where can i find some nice wheels. 62mm 31mm

I need a washer for my impala quads. What size of washer do I need?
working on the next video. Bearing service, cleaning, and lubing. Thanks for the feedback.
your video is so good i m new of roller skates. thanks.
What is the best bearings for roller skate?
Great vid man. Um can the wheels be dynoed for top speed vs torque and then grip? What about lighted wheels?
What about a rotating wheels for even wear video 👍

I don't have a bearing tool, help??
Thank gawd for this video, I agree that there is a lack of high quality derby gear videos out there, do some more! :D
what is tool name?
So do we just ignore the spacers that coke with the bearings
That was a cool trick for putting the bearings back on without the bones 🦴 tool in the new wheels
Thank you so much! This helped me so much!
Where do the washers come in? My bones came with washers and a metal spacer-looking thing.

roller skate wheels are the same with skate board wheels??
Through waiting Force the tolerance value for the bearings as it relates to metal is the value will go back to shape and within its dimension
Well done!!! You explained it perfectly. Thank you.
if u take the bearings out on the axle the bearings will bend
And with cheap skates....so will the axle! :(
I found a vanilla renegade on an online shop that says its size kids 4. Would that be the same as a men's 4?

It just took me WAY too long to figure out that you turned the wheel after installing the first bearing without the tool.
Is your website shut down? Did y'all go out of business?
Thanks this helped a lot

I want to see "How to Stretch a Ridell Boot near the top of the toe area?
