  • [Hi-Fi Mono] The group appeared on two episodes of this eclectic USTV program. This performance was taken from a "bonus" segment, and unfortunately, the sound isn't as great as other episodes would prove to be.
Apologies for the slight hum in the signal. This was always present in the recording/broadcast, I'm afraid.

☆ They covered Herb Alpert's, "This Guy's in Love With You", during their encore. Terry had this battered trumpet sitting on his keyboard all show...Tommy comes forward to sing lead, they get to the trumpet solo and every band member takes a shot, with Tommy, finally blowing everybody's mind. Hey boys it’s a wild weekend.
We did it then and we'll do it again.
We're having fun and it just got started.
We're on the run and we're crashing parties.
Get ready 'cause it’s a wild weekend.
Johny pulls up and we all got in.
Rock'n roll is what we did, my friend.
I’m feelin' good, yeah, I feel so crazy.
The girl's a drag, but it don’t even phase me.
Get ready, it’s a wild weekend.
Tired waiting for the (?) for the weekend.
It's getting harder as the days go by.
Cause every boy needs a girl at night.
    It makes him feel alright.
There's a place just around the bend.
The same place where it all began.
It’s the best, man, you just can't beat it.
And later on when the place gets heated.
Get ready, cause it’s a wild weekend.
Tired waiting 'til it’s time for the weekend.
It's getting harder as the days go by.

I said that that Drummer is a fat Italian American boy like me and I know he wolfed down a big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs and chased it with some merlot or Chianti get those chops . This Drummer I know can play anything even jazz like Buddy Rich . To my surprise my Drummer friend said “ Yes Excellent Drummer ! You get it ! I am one of those who have Ringo in my top 5 . Fuck Neil Peart ! “.

    • @whatsforafters7843
      @whatsforafters7843  4 года назад +4

Part of what he is doing, on this particular number, is what is referred to as "comping". Terry Adams can play rings around many other keyboard players who attempt to play "rock" music. If you haven't yet listened to him, for background on what seems to be "wrong notes" to many a person's ears, try listening to one of his influences, Thelonius Monk. That will give you two lessons on what is considered by some, to be music: techniques, as well as sound. "Feel" is another important part of performance, some will also point out. Hope that helps to answer your question; or was it just rhetorical in nature, to begin with?

    • @judehanley9980
