- Over the past year I have been documenting the progress of a brand new Motorcycle museum being built in Somerset West Cape Town.
Finally this gem in the Western Cape is open to the public and it is world class. This is truly a "Journey through Motorcycle history" . You will find bikes from all decades of the last century, from Italian, German, French, Russian, American and British origin, some beautifully restored and others with their original age appropriate patina. There is something for every petrol head in this phenomenal collection, from vintage enamel signs to pylons, helmets petrol pumps, oil cans and old oil dispensers. It is an Aladdins Cave that will keep you captivated for hours.
The restaurant , Vintage Bike Cafe is open too and I can highly recommend their food. A must stop on your next Cape Tour

What an awesome place to have near you.
Very good video. This museum is now definitely on my bucket list the next time I am in the Cape.
Amazing, if I ever find myself in South Africa I’m definitely going, I do hope this museum gets the support it deserves from the South African motorcycling community.
The BMW @ 3.47 hasn’t got Earles forks so is probably the model before the R50. I have a soft spot for Ariel Square 4’s, no similar 4 strokes come to mind but Suzuki did make Square 4 two strokes including the RG500 🇬🇧
Very interesting! Thanks Dietmar
Nice bikes 😍👌🇧🇪
Thanks for this video, I'll definitely be checking this museum out if I ever get to SA. Cheers! 😎
Cool video. But you left out the 2 strokes from the late 80's/90s.
Yes, there are many bikes I skipped as it got very long…..I just referred to them as the highschool bikes we ran in the 80‘s and 90‘s
Keep you the good work. Oh and sick cherry Bomb Buell xb12. Love Buells.
Very interesting! Thanks Dietmar
