Think less of the knot being related to storing haki into things. The black blades are blades that turned black from constant battling, the holder channeling haki through it. The knot is something else entirely, the knot is like the one from Weatheria, the wind knot had wind stored inside it, the knots aren't the first time we've seen something like this, think of Skypeia and the Dials like the Impact Dials. Impact Dials can blast someone back but only after recieving a strong blast. Joyboy could've imbued his haki into the knot, or he could've just punched it really, really hard.

In two years Luffy went from a decently strong, stretchy pirate to an Emperor of the Sea. Koby went from a short, bespectacled prisoner of a pirate, to a Marine Captain, and prisoner of a pirate. I'm fairly certain that Luffy is ready.
Decently strong? Pre time skip Luffy was strong as hell. A rookie, came on the scene and amassed a hell of a resume from the start. Beat Buggy, Kuro, Don Krieg and Arlong. AND beat a warlord in Crocodile and CP9’s strongest in Lucci. Luffy’s never been a joke. Koby can’t even touch Luffy in his dreams.

I thought this too when none of the Gorosei seemed to know/mention Emeth as a nakama of Joyboy. Suggesting either they never met Emeth during the void century, or they weren't around back then. Potentially Imu created them after the void century to run the world for him. Would make sense with the Vegapunk-satellite comparison that's quite popular.
My question is if Shanks felt it. Yeah an argument could be made that since the Gorosei were linked to Imu that that's how they felt it despite being so far away. But still, if anyone else beyond the outskirts of Egghead felt it it would be Shanks.

I think the idea of giving ur haki to something, is probably how black blades work, especially since we know theres a very strong relationship between black blades and their weilders, e.g. its like ryuma giving his haki to his sword because the two are becoming one in a sense
He won’t stop luffy by force because the gap is too massive, but if he meant stop luffy’s dream by finding the one piece before luffy does I think that would track more for his character. Koby doesn’t dislike luffy at all he’s probably in the top 10 of luffy’s biggest fans even if he has to hide it

We've known about imbuing items with haki via weaponry and permanently with the black blades. Maybe joyboy is one of the few who even thought about putting conquerers into a non weapon

This whole hotusinagi bit sounds like it would fit perfect with the theory that the one piece is a gigantic bottle of Sake. Binks sake is a song from the earliest days of pirates, possibly dating back to joyboy and oaths as well as bonds of brotherhood are bound in sake in 1P. Sake brings people together both literally and symbolically. If Luffy were to become king of the pirates and the whole world were to toast him as king that would bind the world and bring it together. I am pretty sure Luffy intends to have a planet wide party after he becomes king, what better time for such a thing to occur?

It's possible the Haki Knot was an ability of his Devil Fruit. His power is literal freedom, so the idea he could change the properties of the knot to contain Haki is not too much of a...stretch. (That pun was unintentional, though appropriate.) Just a mythical fruit altered stretch. I personally would like to see the freedom aspects of Luffy/Joyboy's power much more. The possibilities are only ended by the limits of one's imagination.

I'm going to paste something from reddit. It's sorta long but it perfectly explains the koby situation for anyone confused imo. Interested if you agree with this take or not Koby is the first friend and rival Luffy made in one piece. He's his day one even before Zoro. It was Koby and Luffy's meeting that truly started the story that is one piece. Kobys original goal was to fight and capture Luffy as his equal. Doing so wouldn't necessarily get in the way of luffy's dream because he could technically be fighting Luffy after he already became king as long as the fight eventually happened, it didn't matter when as much, but things are different now. Koby is gunning for the one piece now because the fate of the world depends on it. Him getting it will BY DEFAULT take luffy's dream of pirate king away from him. That's what he's referring to. He's not targeting Luffy specifically, people. He's saying he's taking the one piece before ANY PIRATE gets it, which includes Luffy. However he's thinking of Luffy specifically because he's the only pirate after the one piece that Koby actually cares about. What I'm trying to say is: Never underestimate these three minor pirate. You'll never know.
You forgot about the Kuja tribe's arrows. Those are permanently imbued with haki, and it's done during the manufacturing process. It's more a case of the Marines not knowing/having the technology or knowledge how to do it. So if they knew, they definitely could manufacture haki imbued cannonballs or bullets. Remember, it was explained by Rayleigh that your haki can't remain in objects that lose contact with yourself. So if you imbue an attack with haki, the minute you drop the weapon, the haki dissipates. There's a specific technique that the Kuja know of to permanently imbue ammunition with haki, and it happens while the items are made not after. Now, if Joy Boy did the same, then it's more about imbueing the haki during the manufacturing of the knot, rather than "sealing" afterwards. Either it's like that, or it's more about the knot's ability to store stuff (like Skypiea's dials) instead of Joy Boy having the ability to seal into stuff. It could be that there are different kinds of knots (like dials) that could store different things. Like the wind knots to store wind, and the knot that stored JB's haki. As for Enma, I'm not sure about Oden's presence. It could just be that he was on his way to making Enma into a black blade. But then again if black blades are made by imbued haki, then Shusui should have cut Monet's real body despite Zoro not using his own haki. So Idk. It's not adding up.
That's not what chekovs gun means though... The one piece isn't one, neither is any part of this story setup. Saturn being copied however would be an example, telling us at some point this needs to become a plot point.

Here's what's confusing to me...Koby's whole motivation makes him look like he sees Luffy as some evil criminal mastermind. Yes, Luffy IS a pirate but his whole reason for wanting the One Piece is simple; to bring freedom for ALL people. That doesn't sound like some scheme for world conquest or mass murder like all these other pirates out there
no character except for Roger pirates know what one piece is, and no character outside of strawhat pirates know about Luffy actual dream, we don't even know what Luffy will do to the one piece if he gets it. And it's just logical for koby or anyone in the marine to assume that one piece is probably a weapon or something to use in a conquest since not only Luffy who wants the one piece but all pirates, and most of them actually do some pirate stuff, and getting an ultimate weapon does help doing pirate stuff

I want to point out that Luffy had his "Roger vs Garp" rivalry with Smoker. Smoker allied with Luffy before (on Alabasta and later at Punk Hazard) but was still dedicated on catching Luffy for a long time. Koby may be a better match (and more interesting character than Smoker) but the story already had the marine who was chasing after Luffy despite knowing that Luffy is an OK person. In fact, Smoker x Luffy relationship is a better allegory for Roger X Garp, because Garp was never a friend of Roger. He most definitely saw Roger as a stinking pirate and wanted to beat him up. Roger says as much when he puts Ace into Garp's care. Meanwhile, Koby&Luffy started out as friends and Koby has been fanboying Luffy for the entirety of the series. Now Koby wanting to stop Luffy is a change in their behaviour and in the opposite direction as the "lovers into foster father for my boy" relationship that Roger had with Garp.

I'm not sure Luffy knows that finding the one piece requires the poneglyphs. It seems like the cubes are not in his field of view, he just wants to sail island to Island until he gets there
I think Oden dreamed his swords would protect his children, so they did. Joyboy dreamed the knot would protect Emeth, so it did. Only difference is Joyboy knew the full truth about the world, so his dream was more of an action than a hope.

I only remembered now, but we have also seen another instance of "stored" Haki in One Piece. Big Mom's Vivre Card (given to Nami by Lola) could display her aura to scare away and force to submission the homies. I really really like the idea of the One Piece logo and/or title have a hidden significance. It blew my mind when the actual writing of Laugh Tale was revealed, so if Oda has something like that in store for the title of his manga, I expect it to be incredible.

My first thought when i saw joyboy stashing haki in an object was that black blades could be the protype version of stashing haki, like first you must be able to imbue conquerors in something you use all the time, once you have mastered that then you can attempt to imbue it into other things, maybe faster, and eventually imbuing specific haki techniques to be used
I was reading about Koby in the wiki, and it said that Pizzaro’s hand was roughly the size of a mountain and Koby was able to split it in half. That should say something when it comes to Koby’s strength.
Fun fact: 1122 reads in japanese as "The One". Oda Revealed only one date in the story. 1122 which was the year Mont Blanc Noland found the golden city. 1122 is the first chapter we see Joyboy. Can he be "The One"? What connection does it have with Noland and Skypea? We have to look out for 1127 chapter because it reads in japanese as "The One Piece". Literally the One Piece. I do honestly think that we will see something in that chapter, maybe a big revelation. Oda loves word play, so I wouldn't be suprised.

Think less of the knot being related to storing haki into things. The black blades are blades that turned black from constant battling, the holder channeling haki through it. The knot is something else entirely, the knot is like the one from Weatheria, the wind knot had wind stored inside it, the knots aren't the first time we've seen something like this, think of Skypeia and the Dials like the Impact Dials. Impact Dials can blast someone back but only after recieving a strong blast. Joyboy could've imbued his haki into the knot, or he could've just punched it really, really hard.

It's possible the Haki Knot was an ability of his Devil Fruit. His power is literal freedom, so the idea he could change the properties of the knot to contain Haki is not too much of a...stretch. (That pun was unintentional, though appropriate.) Just a mythical fruit altered stretch.

Koby is the first friend and rival Luffy made in one piece. He's his day one even before Zoro.
It was Koby and Luffy's meeting that truly started the story that is one piece.
Kobys original goal was to fight and capture Luffy as his equal.
Doing so wouldn't necessarily get in the way of luffy's dream because he could technically be fighting Luffy after he already became king as long as the fight eventually happened, it didn't matter when as much, but things are different now.
Koby is gunning for the one piece now because the fate of the world depends on it. Him getting it will BY DEFAULT take luffy's dream of pirate king away from him. That's what he's referring to.

You forgot about the Kuja tribe's arrows. Those are permanently imbued with haki, and it's done during the manufacturing process. It's more a case of the Marines not knowing/having the technology or knowledge how to do it. So if they knew, they definitely could manufacture haki imbued cannonballs or bullets.
Remember, it was explained by Rayleigh that your haki can't remain in objects that lose contact with yourself. So if you imbue an attack with haki, the minute you drop the weapon, the haki dissipates. There's a specific technique that the Kuja know of to permanently imbue ammunition with haki, and it happens while the items are made not after.
Now, if Joy Boy did the same, then it's more about imbueing the haki during the manufacturing of the knot, rather than "sealing" afterwards. Either it's like that, or it's more about the knot's ability to store stuff (like Skypiea's dials) instead of Joy Boy having the ability to seal into stuff. It could be that there are different kinds of knots (like dials) that could store different things. Like the wind knots to store wind, and the knot that stored JB's haki.
As for Enma, I'm not sure about Oden's presence. It could just be that he was on his way to making Enma into a black blade. But then again if black blades are made by imbued haki, then Shusui should have cut Monet's real body despite Zoro not using his own haki. So Idk. It's not adding up.

I want to point out that Luffy had his "Roger vs Garp" rivalry with Smoker. Smoker allied with Luffy before (on Alabasta and later at Punk Hazard) but was still dedicated on catching Luffy for a long time. Koby may be a better match (and more interesting character than Smoker) but the story already had the marine who was chasing after Luffy despite knowing that Luffy is an OK person. In fact, Smoker x Luffy relationship is a better allegory for Roger X Garp, because Garp was never a friend of Roger. He most definitely saw Roger as a stinking pirate and wanted to beat him up. Roger says as much when he puts Ace into Garp's care. Meanwhile, Koby&Luffy started out as friends and Koby has been fanboying Luffy for the entirety of the series. Now Koby wanting to stop Luffy is a change in their behaviour and in the opposite direction as the "lovers into foster father for my boy" relationship that Roger had with Garp.

I think Oden dreamed his swords would protect his children, so they did. Joyboy dreamed the knot would protect Emeth, so it did. Only difference is Joyboy knew the full truth about the world, so his dream was more of an action than a hope.

My first thought when i saw joyboy stashing haki in an object was that black blades could be the protype version of stashing haki, like first you must be able to imbue conquerors in something you use all the time, once you have mastered that then you can attempt to imbue it into other things, maybe faster, and eventually imbuing specific haki techniques to be used
I was reading about Koby in the wiki, and it said that Pizzaro’s hand was roughly the size of a mountain and Koby was able to split it in half. That should say something when it comes to Koby’s strength.

Haki imbued items have been shown since Amazon Lily - Emeth's use was just a super-high level version, IMO.
I think storing/sealing haki like that is something unique to having Luffy's fruit. He can literally manifest and control things at will.
