Step away Mustie1 there is a new team in town, well done. I love this video, we all needed it to help us through these crazy time . My parents divorce when i was three. I did not know my dad until my late teens. He was a great guy. He died young from cancer back when my son was three years old. He told me to find something we both enjoy, create moments for him and I and provide him a life time of father/son memories. That same year when he died i got my son his 1978 beetle and he is 31 & this summer we have big plans up dating his 1978 beetle. I love seeing you and Josh working together, there no greater gift a father can give his son.

He's a smart cookie , He's " learned me " before too👍...I should of listened to him and buttoned up the throttle linkage 1st but I was so eager to figure out why Dubwerk's Bug wouldn't run.
They all run and look at Josh ! Getting right in there good for him😁👍👍👍 I was eleven years old when I was building mini bikes and fixing old motorcycles. Don't laugh my first motorcycle was a late 60s PUCH or (push) because it seemed I was pushing it more than riding it will 🤣

That guy rode it come hell or high water, snow, whatever. It was all he had. Later on, I rode my 500 yammer year round, it was all I had. I even rode it through a snow storm with two feet of snow on the roads. A cop followed me almost all the way home, just waiting for me to dump it I guess... but I didn't, I put my feet down like outriggers and took it slow.

I once (30 years ago... good grief... sigh) had a similar problem with a distributor. I needed one for a type 181 but they sold me one with a wrong alignment. I bought a car once for a dollar...Was sitting in a garage for 3 yrs...they couldn't get it started so that lady said "Just get it out of here" So I hooked up the primary to the coil, started it up and drove it home.
I have zero interest in VWs. However, 150% interest in a father and son doing the damn thing. Subbing and liking for that alone. Didn't have to watch the video
@@DubWerks when it had a non original distributor on it, that should have been a clue. that's one of the first things you check, just turn it the 180 even if you don't think that's the problem. As you know, even very experienced mechanics can make that mistake. Hell I've made it a few times, though I'm not much of a mechanic and don't claim to be. That's why I love original vW's the mechanics are relatively easy in most cases.
If the title says "Will it Run?" and the vehicle in question is an air-cooled Beetle, the answer is very likely to be 'yes' if 1.) the engine has remained intact and dry, and 2.) it ran when parked. 😎

Same bug. I checked and thought everything looked good. I'm not mechanical though and I was obviously wrong LOL. It's ok, needed to free up space anyway.

Old cars like this will always run so long as the rubber parts are in good shape and there's not allot of corrosion. I wish cars were nice and simple like this again. Now they're full of electronics.

Hmmm - he sounds like some of the people that said the same thing to me about my '77 Cordoba - then when I resurrected her, all of a sudden they were like "Can I get a ride?" LOL This car has (almost) all the right things going for it: it's the right year, the right color, I kinda have the space & time...just not the budget. She's not coming to me, but I hope you find the right home for her.

Great work dude these Vee Dub motors are so easy and simple to work on doesn't matter how long they've been laid up with a bit of this and that you can usually have them running again in no time at all. My stepdaughter has a Vee dub Bay window camper she has it M.O.Teed every year then just leaves it sat on the car park I've got it running again for her on at least four occasions after she's just let it stand. It's now in a real sorry state it needs a real good wash a damned good T cut n polish all four tyres pumping up and gettin running ... again, it's absolutely stupid I've told her to just sell it but she won't listen.
WoW !!! That brings back a lot of memories dude when me & my brother would haul old VWs home and got them running like you did . That's awsum ! Worked on VW for years and I know you can't just spin the distributor because the drive is offset. I'm amazed you didn't show the trick on pulling the gear to put it in the right place. Matter of fact, I'm wondering how it got in the wrong place. Do we know the history of the car?
I am flipping it today , get it running on org dizz . I do not know the history of the car or how the plug wires were initially run ....a friend was trying to get this running prior , I had just pushed it off the trailer and tried to fire it .

Worked on VW for years and I know you can't just spin the distributor because the drive is offset. I'm amazed you didn't show the trick on pulling the gear to put it in the right place. Matter of fact, I'm wondering how it got in the wrong place. Do we know the history of the car?
I am flipping it today , get it running on org dizz . I do not know the history of the car or how the plug wires were initially run ....a friend was trying to get this running prior , I had just pushed it off the trailer and tried to fire it .
