Thank You. I asked support today how I could create a custom scale, and they said: "As far as we are aware, that list of scales cannot be edited." I'm glad you demonstrated that new feature!
For me too. I was still using Studio One 5 Artist and the 149 euros for the update are fantastic for me. But I can understand why old Studio One Pro owners don't think it's that nice. They paid 500 euros and probably updated to the new version every 2-3 years. I think this is fantastic for newcomers to Studio One.
After working for 8 hours with the new Studio One Pro 7, (compared with the Studio One 6.4), i can say that by far the BIGGEST improvement, is the ergonomics and visibility ! HUGE difference, to help you see the various "events", and manipulate and arrange them much more easily. Even in the smallest view ( all view window) you can see and move events 500% more easily. So arrangement and composition is much more easy. Also , for those that they have and use splice , its much easier to incorporate a sample in your song. I have tried the rest of the features (global transport , launcher , impact edit view, tempo detection & stem separation) and i can say that although they are very useful , someone will use them from time to time and not always. From the above i found more useful the Impact edit view, which lets you put the kicks, snares, much more easily.
Yes thank you for the Tutoria,l and i highly recomend Harmony Wizard its alot of fun and easy to use. One thing I would like in studio 1 is to be able to Reverse Volume and Pan Nobs to use with XY pads and XFaders or use the on Board VCA fader to do Xfades between tracks rather than the VCA moves all the fadders in one direction only or Studio 1 gets an Xfadder like Ableton and Trakton Waveform 13 that would be so cool🙂
Thank you. In fact, I've read this statement with every statement since Studio One version 2. Most people don't understand that it has always been the case with Studio One that a new major version (4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) is just the beginning of a new release cycle. So there is no reason why a 6.0 has to have a huge amount of new features, as there was also 6.1, 6.2, 6.5 and 6.6, each with new features. People always say it's extremely disappointing compared to PreSonus' standards - it was the same with every previous version 😅
@@studioonetutorials I mean this is not my experience at all, typically there is at least some things that get me excited to use, this time there's nothing as a producer that I would find useful, it's more stuff that a beatmaker would use. All in all, absolutely awesome, Studio One is becoming one of the best DAWs. One tiny thing i dislike, which was already part of S1 6: Concerning the scale feature: i think the scale highlighting via black horizontal lines is an unfortunate design choice, totally confusing - because a proper piano roll always should maintain its visual black/white-key matrix, upon which any scale should be shown.

Hi Joseph. On Windows, you can switch between open program windows with Alt+Tab. It's not Explorer but another great file explorer software called Total Commander.
This would be awesome. In the Cubase chord track, you have the option of instantiating scales which follow the chord progression. Then, there are a couple of ways to do realtime MIDI recording, where notes are snapped to the scale as you play.

Lukas, thank you for your Top 5. I always appreciate your videos. They are always unique. I have a question though, as you are a composer and work with large scores. I spent tens of hours a couple years ago (v6) working on orchestral templates of various sizes and flexibility. And then I would frequently have real world problems in S1 being able to handle the data flow. It would bog down, overload, stability issues, etc. and seemingly not handle track counts much over 100 on my Windows system. It seemed I routinely had to pursue workarounds. I generally followed your approaches from your many wonderful scoring videos and tips. (Perhaps the main reason I went to S1 instead of Logic or Cubase). I have since gotten a MBP M1 Max that should be about 2x more powerful. I’ve moved and been away from scoring for awhile. Wondering: has S1 7 made overall changes that make it more stable for larger scoring projects?
There were no recent changes regarding performance with large templates in version 7. But 6.6 changed a lot in this regard, zooming and navigating in songs with more than 500 tracks is much snappier than before. However, crashes should never happen, no matter how many instruments are in the song. In this case, it's usually a plug-in problem (which can be hard to find sometimes). I don't use these massively large templates anymore and have moved to a smaller template and using Track Templates. And I hope there will be more improvements for composing and scoring in the future.
