Our man has succeeded again.Looks professionaly built. Ocean M. looks wonderful. It was blessing when your family found her.
Thanks Page! Lovely to hear from you as always
Andy, Melissa, Jack & Oliver: The hardtop looks magnificent, professional and should provide shelter for the whole family.
That hard top came out wonderfully. I think you are going to get a ton of enjoyment out of it.
Thank you I’m happy with it
That looks really cool, you must be proud!
Hey mark! Yeah I'm pretty chuffed with it. I'll give you a call soon for a catch up
That cockpit has turned into a Swiss army knife. Sun protection rain collection and protection plus a solar array. Also spray and wind protection when sealed up. Just wow.
Let’s hope it all works as planned then eh :)
@@SailingMelodyit will..
Looks great and I can’t wait to see the canvas go on. 🙌🏻
Me too!!
It’s all coming together once again great video
The enclosure looks absolutely wonderful. Looks like it should have always been there . I can’t make it to the gig but wish you the very best on the day . Love your guitar playing so I know it will be a fantastic gig. Please keep us updated if it’s going to be online as I would love to see it . Best wishes to you and family . 😊
Thank you 😊
A lot of work, there! Looks amazing. 😎❤️😎❤️😎
Well done on the cockpit enclosure looks great mate
Thanks 👍
Starting to look really fantastic.
Thanks 😊
Looking good. I like your idea for the the displays .
Thanks!
Wow. That is truly impressive Andy. Along with the cushions, floors and ceiling the boat is looking like a great home for your family. Love the videos.
Thanks 👍
Little man’s having fun 😂😂😂❤
He is 😂
Very nice Job, look at the beauty
Love the new cockpit roof. Good job Andy…
Thanks 👍
How cool. That big, sleek sailboat looks like shes starting to grow a pilot house, but it looks totally natural and doesn't detract from the lines at all. Nicely done!
The cockpit enclosure looks like it has always been part of the original design of the boat. Great job.
Thanks so much
Hi Andy,
If you decide on plastic, acrylic of some type, then make sure they don't touch any of the stainless material because then you will have rust occuring on the area where they are touching. Looks really bad and will in time destroy the plastic windows. Small stains can be removed with Autosol but it will make the plastic dim. Best solution is to manufacture the enclosure so that you only have fabric touching the stainless material. Or make socks around the stainless parts, fastned with velcro, recommended. Sorry if this was already known and taken care of. Fair winds.
Yeah for sure there will be a standoff/gasket between the plastic and the stainless
Looking good Andy 👍 hello Sailing Melody Family ❤️
Hi there :)
Hi Andy, Melissa, lightning, Jack and little Oliver, wow all I can say is the canopy looks fantastic. You’ve done a great job you guys I really love the look it has change the look of the boat/yacht. Keep up the good work from Australia.
Thanks 👍
Hi Andy. That's a fine job on the cover, bro. It's a credit to you, and it makes a massive difference. Looking good, Andy. 👍 😅🇨🇮
Thanks mate! Appreciate it
Looks like a great job that you've done
Thanks 👍
Fantastic job on the roof and frames, would have cost a small fortune tohave it made to that standard
Yea it would!!!
You'll need it in the 27:30 sun. Coming from the skin Cancer Capital of the US. ARizona. But will also make your days in the sun really enjoyable. Not fatiguing. anticipating great family adventures.😅😊
Definitely and especially as we are all Ginger
Absolutely true! Skin cancer is nobody friend
cool overalls Melissa
Awesome is the correct word. Great job guys.
Andy and Melissa the cockpit enclosure and top looks fantastic. At first I thought to low and didn't go back enough, but after your explanation about the canvas sliding in and out it now makes sense. Where you want to put those 3 gauges to the upper front of cockpit will look fine. The water capture seems to work, but I guess once you are on the move and anchoring at different locations and it rains you'll be able to test it more thoroughly. Sailing Melody is really starting to look absolutely brilliant. Looking forward to next video. And where you are playing your concert is the east side of Birmingham. Wish I was over in the UK now so I would have definitely purchased tickets. I have relatives Rugby, Coventry, Husband Bosworth, Leicester, London and numerous other places. I will forward them information on your concert and how to purchase tickets. It would be awesome if a couple or more go.
Catch you next week
19:10 looks pretty darn good to me, definitely not outta place.. well done guys..
Thanks Trev!
Melissa - those are very groovy overalls you're wearing!
We’ll thank you 😊
I hope your friend is coming out of hospital soon. So kind of them to lend you their home.
Yes they’ve been very sick and things are not looking good but don’t want to share their personal life on here
@@SailingMelody so sorry to hear that. I am sending healing xxx
It sounds like you have a new vocalist for your concert.
Looking good! Just want to say thanks for the inspiration from you guys. Had a phone call today to say that the boatyard near me will accept my offer of a whole £175 for a 26ft MacWester. As you can guess, for that price it's not in top condition as its not been used for 10 years, but it does come with a mooring at £68 a month and an in at the boatyard. A proper bargain in my eyes.
Wow that’s great! Glad we inspired you
Wow, that cockpit enclosure looks amazing, well done 👍hope that slap on the head didn’t do any damage to you Andy??
Great achievement guys👍👍❤️❤️🇮🇪🇮🇪
Hey there Andy, boy your great new beard makes you a compete salty sea captain! No way we can make your event but we're sure anyone who have followed your family and living anywhere would love to see and hear great musicians doing great music! We're praying for you all. FWCS SAIL ⛵️
Thanks guys :) love to you all
Great desing!! Congrats
Thank you! 😊
Amazing progress 👍👍 🥰⛵️⛵️⛵️
Thanks 👍
Love the Rainbow splash overalls Melissa. XX
Hahaha they’re fun eh :)
the hardtop looks great nice to the family together on melody Oliver is coming on nicely and Jack is certainly looking much you have the makings of a good crew
Thank you 😊
Looking great!
Thank you! Cheers!
Dam fine peice kit right there makes boat look fast and right. Excellent job Andy should be right proud of yaself. 😊 Just the niggly bits to be getting on with then. 😅Mel ya colourful suit and pom,pom hat was a delight to behold. 😮😊 Righto then carry on and keep at it. 😊
The Hardtop looks great guys and finishes the boat off . Not long now and you will be off on your adventurers. 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Thanks 😊
Transform the look of the boat and very useful well done 👏
You become captain Barbarossa very soon … nice though. The encloser looks nice and will for sure fulfill its purpose!😊
Hahaha yes I want to see how majestic I can grow this beard before I get annoyed and shave it off
Wow! That's fantastic. Andy, we know you want to set sail next month, please take care of yourself as you are looking very tired 🎉❤
Yeah I’m pretty exhausted tbh lol
Have to admit when you brought that onto the pontoons to fit onto the boat I thought that's a big frame, however it looks great! It does look like it came with the boat - great job!
Thanks 👍
That boat is elegant, really nice shaped hull.
We think so too
Cockpit looks great Andy. Awsom job mate
Thank you 😊
Heath Robinson would be proud of that
My hero. I glory in my long, winding road to mediocrity
Congrats to ALL, Now That sure makes Such a Difference to 'The Boat'.... Now it look So Homely and Protected.... I am sure that This Area will be Very Well used .... Best to ALL from ChCH, NZ
Thank you 😊
Lovely job Andy 😊
Thanks Paul
made for it grate work
Dear Melissa, Andy, Oliver and captain Jack,
The added cockpit enclosure looks like it was a option in buying this beautiful sailing boat Ocean Melody. When everything will be ready including windows, solar panels and canvas nobody ever will notice that this wasn’t an option at all. Willeke and I were happy to see the whole family on board again and we look forward to your next vlog plus we send you love from the Netherlands
Thank you! We love your comments
If you want UV resistant glass please don't use "Acrylic or something like that " but Macrolon. We use it on the shipyards for light railings with glass. Any other material will degrade quite quickly under the sun.
Yes we will use UV stable Makralon or Lexan. I just use the word “acrylic” becsuee people know what it is, but I agree a polycarbonate composite is much better
I love your “unicorn camouflage” print coveralls Melissa!
Thanks 😊
Andy, it's me again.
At 22:51, can you see those black specs in the captured water and on the drier surface? I believe they are bits of pollution, possibly soot.
I have seen this many times as I leave a large stainless bowl full of water out in the garden for the benefit of the cats and the hedgehog (who has arrived from hibernation too soon). After it rains, the water needs changing due to the black bits that fall with the rain. I can't remember from previous instalments whether you mentioned a filter system in between the drains and the fresh water tank. If not, please take that precaution.
Yes we will have filters :)
Excellent job! Well done!
Thank you very much!
Absolutely brilliant, really looking forward to seeing the boat at anchor in epic locations. (Drone shots are a must do)
Yes! We have several drones so there will be a lot of that
She looks great ! ❤😊
I think so too. And the enclosure is pretty cool too 😂
The enclosure looks great
Thanks we’re really happy with it
looking very good 👍great job
Thank you 😊
Absolutely fantasic Cockpit Enclosure. You have really outdone yourself this time Andy. I am so pleased everything has gone to plan and it looks very good and is so practical. This boat is going to be such a success and a terrific home for you all. Keep well and safe. James.
Thanks James :)
Great progress Andy and Crew, I love your piano track.
Thanks for listening
Nice work looks great guys love it
Thanks 👍
Cheers guys! 😊
Its a nice cockpit become but it’s looks a little bit high Melissa can with the canvas end the windows a better line creating with smaller windows end upstairs smaller en under wider canvas.
End make it close to the roof because wind en rain is coming true the gaps. Good luck.👍👍
Don’t worry. We are using bolt rope and track to attach the canvas directly to the fiverglsss so there won’t be any gap at all
😀I got my tickets
Amazing thank you 😊
Not too shabby ❤
Hahaha thanks 😊
Looks great Andy !! 👍
Nice goin m8s, really impressed with Melissa's rainbow-alls 🤨 Liked the familiar figure of Andy as well, who helped with lid on to the boat. Nice idea the lid, the solar panel, with the drain hole taking water to the water tanks 👨 🦶🦶 Andy. 12:24in Look like your reversin away from the dock already m8! 26:17in AB Olly, is diplomatically suggesting Captain Andy get on with the job 😉 As for me, I'm lookin forward to the nextie. Thanks m8s, keep up the good work, stay vertical Eh! You got time, the kettles not on here, yet!
Cheers Greg! Thanks for your amazing support as always chap!
That is one beautiful boat👍
It looks fabulous, well done.
Thank you! 😊
The music at 15 minutes it’s like a funeral music 🫣😂😂
Erm. Ok. Sorry about that.
Looks nice good job
Thank you 😊
well done looking good
Thanks so much 😊
Well fone. Relaxing to watch. Now it is done you can relax a bit🎉
We’ll we’re pressing on to get moved back aboard and head off asap
Have an MPPT charger per solar panel because the boom will shade at least one panel most of the time.
We will have the boom held out on a preventer but yes we have an mppt for each panel definitely
Looking good 😊
excellent. still think a aech just in front of the mizzen would be useful to hold some more solar and to have and extension canvas roof when not sailing
Maybe yeah. Sadly the person who had all the stainless steel I purchased for these jobs used a LOT of it on another job and never replaced it so I can’t afford to do that now. I bought a job lot of stainless tube for £900 and only ever saw less than half of it again.
Tack!
Wow!!!! Thank you so much so kind!! 😊😀
Is there anything Melissa can't do? talk about 'Jill of all trades'! Team asset. Cockpit looks good, when it is completed you can stand back and pat each other on the back. Fm Australia.
You might get some tips at Ep. 195 RAN Sailing. Full enclosure at the back will be a plus in cold conditions.
I’ll check that out thank you
Looking good can not wait for the Maiden voyage
Nor can we! Not long now
Proly fit a couple of 300w solar panels on it.
See the next episode
It looks like it was there all tbe time.
I’m glad. It’s not as pretty as the spray hood but way more functional
Getting battered by giant hail stones is painfull to potentially deadly.. Squalls and storms are now occuring more frequently as temps rise.
The barefoot Doctors were on their leopard off Turkey and an Evening squall thunderstorm hit. They got hammered by the hail but still had to secure the boat.
The little guy is getting well singsongy 😂 good luck all.🤞🏼 Hope it stays dry for you..🧙♂️
Th
That’s a good point! Hail can be nasty
@@SailingMelody
Last year as the drought broke in N Italy there were a series of brutal hail storms across the belt.. roads filled with large hailstones. The largest were well above golfball sizes and car bodies were getting hammered so was ordinary glass.... Whenever you get sudden weather bombs and temperature changes you will get violent winds and rain.. possibly big hailstones. It can go from steamy hot to freezing in minutes. Canoeist helmets and goggles help if you have to step out into it.
Looks like some of your welds will rust, you have overheated the weld and probably the chrome in the stainless has degraded. Pulse weld helps when welding stainless.
Not much I can do about that now unless I start over which isn’t going to happen. But thanks
That backing music when you were sanding was depressing.... I thought that was a crystal salesperson around...
Hahah when I watched it back a few days after I edited it I thought maybe you're right, at the time is seemed kinda cool but maybe not
Just a heads up re the side panels etc DO NOT buy cheap material as the chep clear will not last 12 months so get the info from a prof maker of awnings etc . The canopy looks great well done
Yes we’ve avoided the super cheap stuff. Found an alternative to Sunbrella which is a bit cheaper but not cheap rubbish
Make sure you get a screen for your drain holes
Oh there will be proper filters not just a screen :)
Nice job; after the welding and polishing of the stainless will you need to passivate it to keep it from corroding?
Yes I will do that
that looks awesome guys but i have to tell you that thing is a jibe disaster waiting to happen ..if you jibe uncontrolled that sail and boom will tear that thing clean off the boat and could even kill someone if they r in the cockpit ..also any sort of angled sheet rope to the boom is also very dangerous ..i know because i almost broke my back when a jibing angled sheet rope picked my whole body up and smashed me against the gunnel ..ive done 3 circumnavigations ..plzz be very aware of the danger in a jibe with that cockpit cover
We covered this extensively in previous episodes. The boom and mainsheet clear rhe enclosure with feet to spare in a crash gybe
sorry mate but you are wrong ..crash jibes occur when you are running down wind ..sure when the main is extended out fully and the sheet is straight there is couple of feet clearance but when it jibes the sheet goes slack and the wind will hold the flailing slack ropes foward and it will definatly go around that cockpit cover and rip it off ..there will be ten foot of slack rope when the boom crosses the middle and that rope can go any direction ..you think that sheet rope will just come neatly past the cover but it wont ..it will be out of control and extremely dangerous@@SailingMelody
Well done, looks pretty good! Would have liked the enclosure to follow the sheer of the boat a bit more, just for the esthetics, which of course may have compromised convenience a bit...Can see you going hahaha..... Ever thought of organizing paid day or weekend trips? I'll sign up for it if you do!!!
What do you mean by “follow the sheer” interested to hear your thoughts
@SailingMelody, if you look at the line of the boat, from bow to transom, you see the sheerline having a very slight downward curve in the middle. The enclosure over its length from bow to transom shows pretty straight.
Sutton Coldfield is no where close enough to NE Scotland for it to be a day trip. Not unless I can get a free helicopter.
We’ll that’s true but you get my point. If I’d done the gig in Falmouth it would be even further lol
Yes live stream, count me in from Beaumont Texas USA what's the email & fee for live stream?
Andy, You're beginning to look like a cuddly Ewok.Great build on the top.
Hahahah I’ll take that! Ewoks rule!
I have a tow bar and a large 4 wheel trailer if you need help iam ghere. Ask Simon or Gemma to reach out
Oh that’s really handy thanks, might take you up on that if Sharon isn’t around
@@SailingMelodynot a problem
Sorry Andy, I'm not able to make the gig, but I will 100% pay for the live stream.
Amazing thank you. As soon as we cross the 100 tickets sold I’ll sort out the live stream
👍🏽👍🏽
🙏👍
Stainless is obviously great but won't those welds corrode
Why should they? I used stainless wire and argon mix to weld
@@SailingMelody Sorry if you've used stainless wire it's obviously not an issue.
