I used a remo control ring on the bass batter head & tuned front head down & wow sounds like a 22x16👍
I thought you did a great job describing the A400. Thank you for sharing your experience with this set.
Such a nice groove.
@2:30 "...which is the weight of a fat baby or a small man." Hah hah hah!!!
Enjoyed your drumming, I like your vid, thanks
What a drummer!
Wasn't the Arbiter Flats around before the Traps came along? Very similar.I use a Traps kit for band practice, I've been very pleased with it for that purpose. So much easier than lugging my full Ludwig kit around. I love the sound of the snare. I find the toms are a bit boom-y and benefit from gels, the kick is tricky to tune a sound out of that I like (again I'm not a fan of boom-y kick), but with a ported front head, a bit of muffling and a mic it does the job!
I've got a set of traps as well, and I love 'em! Swapped out the heads (which are equivalent to Remo pinstripes) with Evans. Then I ported the kick drum and muffled it with a door draft guard I got on Amazon for about $10 bucks. Works like a charm! ヅ
As a follow-up to my original comment: I've been perfectly happy to take the Traps out to pub gigs, so it hasn't just languished in the practice room :) Once I'd got the kick sound how I like it I've found it mics up nicely and that's all that's needed. The little snare cuts through wonderfully. Evans 360 tom heads made a big difference to the sound. Best of all, it's light and simple to stuff in the back of the car (I stow the cymbal arms, take the toms off the rack and use the Traps hardware bags, the rack itself just lays flat). It's quick and easy to set up and to dismantle without the rest of the band wondering how long the drummer's going to be fiddling around? :)
Everything is holding up very well, nothing's broken at all. The snare wires came a bit loose toward the end of one gig, but they just needed re-clamping ready for next time and have been fine since. The simple kick pedal and high-hat stand work fine.
... and just to add, my son now has his own Traps kit just so we don't argue about swapping left/right handed setups :)
Did you use gel dampeners on snare, toms, and kick?
These look interesting and very tempting to edrum conversion.
Buy it, slap a few triggers, buy some roland cymbal pads and add the module and you have a nice acoustic looking kit. Yeah, I'm very tempted. I already have the module and cymbals. I'd sell my drum pads and drum rack, buy the triggers and, voila!
What replacement skins would you suggest for the toms?
There’s a guy playing one with some Evans heads that sounds mint!
Good review!!!
Do you thinks these are a bit quite than a full kit ? Are they better for practicing on in my house if you know what I mean?
im looking for the same thing acoustic but at a lesser volume
they are loud as hell :D
Awesome
Very helpful
Will it fit in a 135cm X 285cm room ?
Just about.
I wanted to know about "Traps" Thank you for the information.
Would these work well for classic rock cover band gigs?
Perfect, once you learned the art of tuning drums. I myself got a Pearl Compact Traveler Kit, very similar to this. You can use it in almost every situation from home, to rehearsal room, to small to mid venues. (Don't use this to play Queen on Wembley, though). ;-p
Pearl compact traveler or this?
@Abraham Sink This one costs more than twice and needs more room, all must be said. So this may not be an option for a budget/practice space, putting it in front of the Pearl. But the Traps could be more suitable for studio work as well, although the Compact Traveler sounds nice...
27 kg are you certain?
Please let us know how loud it is! Would this be usable in a house?
that’s a stuuuupid fucking question.
Pretty close to as loud as normal drums.
You can play it in a house if you want to, but these aren't quiet like a practice kit or e-drums. Toms and kick don't have the depth of sound of a full kit but are still quite loud (I use mine for small gigs) and the snare can really cut through when it needs to :)
How did you tune the snare and toms?
Neslie T with a drum key
nice steppers groove @ around 4 minutes
2:25 if it helps, 27kg is the average weight for an 8 year old child. Not sure about big baby... Baby elephant maybe!
I always advice any new drummer on getting this rather then shitty e drum.
Smart comment, I agree!
Shitty e drum? Ok then...
@@4xxx449 Even top e drums are shitty
Definitely needs better drum heads
