- A stunning courtroom moment in Alex Jones’ defamation trial. The lawyer for Sandy Hook parents reveals in court that Jones’ lawyer accidentally sent him texts and emails from his cell phone. The bombshell twist proved Jones wasn’t telling the truth in prior statements. MSNBC’s Chief Legal Correspondent Ari Melber reports on this shocking moment and the high stakes in this trial. Daily Beast reporter Will Sommer joins, adding Jones “has shown on the stand to be a liar.”

They 100% did, it's not as if they didn't have the ability to protect the leaked texts after they were 'accidentally' shared. The prosecution even asked if they wanted that information retracted and they didn't respond. The lawyers are risking being disbarred, there's a good chance they will be but that is the level of scum they were tasked to defend and I guess they just couldn't stomach helping Alex Jones continue his nonsense.

In Canada, it is against ethics for a lawyer to call or refer to his / her opponent as ‘incompetent’.
There is no right to knowingly defame grieving families for profit.
Yeah..”accidentally” sure. More likely his lawyers realized Jones was going to commit purjury and immediately distanced themselves from being included in something that could lead to ethics charges or disbarment against them.
I agree, the plaintiff's lawyers have already asked the judge to sanction Jones and his lawyer which she stated will be addressed after the judgement is in.
Or another possibility, that his attorneys did this on purpose, Jones fires the lawyers, and his new attorneys will appeal the verdict due to ineffective council.
That seems plausible
Um. I'm pretty sure that:
1) if the lawyers have clearly recommended that Jones not commit perjury, they're pretty safe. If they recommended that he commit perjury, that's when they're gonna get disbarred, in which case sending the messages intentionally would be incredibly stupid.
2) Also sending the messages, for any reason, might merit disbarment, but even without it could be a career-ending move, because it completely destroys their credibility. Like who would want to hire a lawyer that intentionally ruins their client, or just can't handle confidential information?
My money says the lawyers are tech inept boomers who legit messed up. Or maybe they asked a temp or an intern to send it, and that person messed up. Regardless of who, I can't see anyone intentionally sending it. The repercussions are just too severe.

As one American to another, my sincere thanks for bringing a glimmer of justice to this era of shameless greed, malice and outright, bold-face lying, that has come to be rewarded with wealth in this country.
Next trump! Lol
I agree with you Michael.

"Alex Jones stunned"
Proceed to watch a video of Jones staying calm the whole time. Wtf 😂😂😂
The best part of all this was the prosecutor telling him his lawyer messed up. I am glad he was as animated as he was.
They shouldn't just take his last penny. He should lose everything and owe them for the rest of his life, and everyone connected to him should pay.
for doing what now? because his words hurt? what a terrible president. You are directly attacking the first amendment and America.
Alex was right.
It was a staged hoax.
Go after future earnings as well.
Are you kidding ... for talking/stating his opinion ... next time you tell someone how you feel and they don't like it ... I hope they sue and take everything you have even after you apologize ... it's all fun till it happens to you ... words are just words man. Don't you think this dude in this trial should be suing the gun companies... the school ... the police ... the parents of the shooter for not protecting his child ... instead he's suing someone who said something he didn't like ... I feel bad for the dad but this is a sad misguided world
@@bryantmessina3657 imagine being the families being harassed for no reason after losing their children, he deserves it lmao
Are we sure the lawyers for Alex Jones aren't doing society a favor?
Exactly what I was thinking, especially since they let the 10 days run out on the retraction. I don't know if he can appeal claiming ineffective assistance of counsel, though. To be clear, I appreciate what they may have been trying to do for the Sandyhook families and as you say, society. I just hope it doesn't backfire.
Those lawyers knew there would be no appeal if they accidentally released the text messages because it's a civil case,... They probably also knew his text messages had damning evidence for the January 6th committee whoopsies
Oh they definitely are. Whether it was a deliberate "mistake" is the real question.
@Mike Delcavo exposing a huckster w a microphone.
Lol ! Yeah. This is like the reverse of the secret service wiping their phones of everything from J5 and 6.
The $4 million judgment is lame. Should have been FAR more.
This is only the direct costs that the families incurred. Wait until the punitive (punishment) damages part today. That's when the PAIN happens.
People like Marjorie Green and this joker wouldn't know reality if it smacked them in their mouths.
Watching Jones cry and sweat and stammer to walk his testimony back and then to double-down and fritz-out... is one of life's few joys. I could watch this over and over...
John Anderson.... If I had Champagne I'd have a glass and toast the screen with Alex Jones in the WITLESS box. Pure Schadenfreude!
@@macforme I don't drink at all, but I have two bottles of sparkling-wine and one of them is chilling in the fridge door right now. I'm saving it though, for tRump's demise. You might want to save it and watch it in November.
Actually, Ari, this is the punishment phase. Remember, Alex was found guilty by default after multiple years of not complying with the discovery process. It's why he's been reprimanded multiple times just this week for trying to plead his innocence. That chapter is closed.
I can't say I fully understand it, but ... Decision of "damages"/"monetary damages" (something like that) was made today by the jury, and then the "punitive" (or the punishment) damages/"non-monetary damages" will be decided by the jury tomorrow or soon after. Also, the jury can decide the punitive damages to be an *additional* monetary amount (on top of the $4.1 million decided today), if they so choose. ... (The only term for this case that I know, for sure, is the word "punitive"). ... And...
I haven't listened to the judge today. Maybe the judge explains all of that, or maybe this was explained at the beginning of the trial or sometime before that.
One of the most important things we can do to try to have access to as accurate information as possible is to pay very, very close attention to the information that's available to us. Skepticism is a must, but it's easier than one would think to be unaware of faulty information that can slip past even the most vigilant among us. If we, for even a second, let certain happenings and/or peoples behavior affect our logic/reasoning skills, or take someone else's opinion at face value, (which is real easy to do especially when it's people who's opinion you respect), you have to stop, do the research from every source there is and even if every one of your nerve endings is screaming with the discomfort of cognitive dissonance and mind bending confirmation bias. If you turn up zilch, you've learned some really important stuff about yourself. But, I can pretty much guarantee you will learn some things that you'll may wish you you hadn't.
These families deserve every single cent!!!
The Parkland survivors need to take the same action and file a defamation lawsuit against Majorie Taylor Greene. She did the same thing..
Careful what you wish for...she might actually have plaintiffs do discovery and a real trial take place. If AJ weren't just a role-player, he'd have done that & satisfied all of the people questioning the anomalies and inconsistencies that are so abundant and obvious to anyone with discernment.

Couldnt happen to a more deserving person.
I wonder if somebody in Jones' lawyer's office grew a spine and a conscience and "accidently" sent those texts to the prosecution.

Are his lawyers going to be held accountable too for withholding incriminating evidence?
"...more positive," pfffffft
I think his lawyers don’t like him because of his remarks
The lawyers didn't make a mistake. They're smart. No lawyer should be willing to risk being disbarred for any client. They were legally required to provide requested evidence on discovery, and they did. Alex Jones thought this was a game, and just learned he was mistaken.
They actually stand a better chance of being disbarred for not defending their client to the best of their ability. This was an obvious mistake.

Agreed. Jones, with his sycophantic audience, thinks he's a cut above everyone else and shouldn't be subject to the same rules and regulations as the rest of us.
