Very nice work! I have a question on the thread. Where I get my sewing supplies they do not have thread that is made for leather or suede They have strong denim, furniture thread and a mending thread. I had just ordered needles for leather, as I'm repairing a zipper in some new boots, but I didn't think of needing a different thread. I live on this little island in Norway and there isn't a sewing or fabric store so everything has to be ordered online. My next order if I can find a thread I will order some.
Hello Annie! I believe that denim thread should work, too - in fact, a lot of threads that are leather-dedicated also mentions that it's suitable for denim, so denim thread should also work on leather, too!
@@Julija_Gobere Thank you! I do have denim thread. This will be a big job putting a zipper in a boot, but these are brand new boots and I don't have a place that could repair it for me. It got stuck in the fur and now it will not zip up or down. Maybe once I get it taken off the boot I can get it to work again but I will still need to sew it back on.
@oskarmolly in this situation may be better choice hand sew your ziper, you already have holes in leather, so all tools you need only thread and needle
What if I have to put Style-vil foam interfacing for stability and the advice with fabric is to fuse it from the fabric side? I can't put the iron on faux leather, but the foam is thick and I don't know if it will stick or is advisable to iron...
I think it would not stick, as such interfacing requires both heat and damp cloth (both not good to use on faux leather). Maybe sew-in version of Style-vil would work better for your project?
I’m getting ready to make a pleather purse. I’m probably biting off more than I can chew, but I bought the pleather today. Thanks for this tutorial.
You need to do a video on placing the zipper in the leather or faux leather garment.
Can you do a video on faux leather themming?
I really appreciate it.
Very informative videos
Good work! I love the idea of hidden embroidery. So fun! Thanks for sharing. I look forward to more leather sewing videos. I'm eager to try it.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video! The embroidery detail turned out so cute, I wonder why I didn't think to do it earlier 😅
Thank you very much, can you please share how you pretreat the faux leather & how do you care for the garment?
Hi there. How about the bobbin & bobbin case for sewing leather. I guess the regular bobbin & bobbin case are not suitable for nylon thread.
