Sewing jersey is such a pain. After trying all the (half dozen) stretch stitches on my machine, I still mostly use a very small zigzag, though. Stretch stitches just take *forever*, they're so slow (lol). And the fabric needs a lot of stabilizing, to not stretch out. Which means starching or using interfacing on every single seam. I did not know about stretch yarn, though! Will check that out.
I totally agree with your points about stretch stitches - that’s my experience, too (I would only add that thicker fabrics with less stretch work a bit better with those stitches). Stretch thread was absolute game changer to me 💯

I mean, if it makes sewing jersey a breeze (especially for things like the neck binding, where I always struggle to get a good result) it would be totally worth it.
What can I do when there is a bulb between the two lines of the twin needle. I tried everything with the tensions at my machine. It's a pfaff and I cannot change the tension of the bobbin.
It’s definitely a bit tricky finding needles for industrial machines, not all sewing shops carry them… In this video I show needles for domestic machine; when I sew on my industrial machine I use Organ Needles needles that have indication ‘SES’ on front of the packaging - these needles have light ball point and are great for sewing knits🤗
Try using a leader, a small scrap of fabric that you start your sewing on, then sew off it and onto the seam line. Quilters often use these for the same reason. I hope it helps.
Check your throat plate. Most machines come with two. Play around with them depending on your stitches. In the US, we have stretch thread now (as she discussed in the video) so you can use straight stitches with knits. This allows you to use the throat plate with the smaller opening. Knits will get stuck less. Not never - but less! Keep trying and good luck.
I got frustrated with this issue too, turned out my machine has trouble pulling the jersey. So I put a stip of very thin paper under the line I was going to stitch and ripped the paper when it was done. It worked very well.

Honestly, I wanted the cover stitch machine for the longest time, but after ‘discovering’ twin needles, I no longer want it🤗

When hemming, I press the hem in place using strips of fusible web tape. Then I use my twin needle and it keeps the hem from stretching out.

Hi could you suggest the organ needles for sewing knits on a serger? Or is it fine to use the regular DC×1 serger needles?
When you use Mettler seraflex thread, do you have to wind the bobbin thread by hand?
